to describe it to the best of my ability: -the first number is how many counts are in a measure -the second number is what is considered one count (here, the eighth note is one count) this is also why some people simplify it to a 4/4 count for this song, specifically with the 3/4 and 4/4 sections; one quarter note (or two eighth notes) would also work for a count for most of the song. the reason op used 8/8 is likely because of the 7/8 measures. in the song, you can actively count out each individual beat, right? for an 8/8 measure, there are 8 total counts at a set pace; that 8 as the second number kinda continues to set that "pace" of sorts even when measures become shorter. i havent done anything music related in a while but i vaguely remember music theory, hope this helps
i have never had so much fun counting in my life
thanks tape
@@wcbq ur welcome
omg lamp?
I love when Neil messes with time signatures. You could do the same thing with Reaganomics.
ok itll be up tomorrow
@@wcbq Please do one for subtle oddities!
@@wcbq no pressure
ive been desperately trying to figure out this time signature for so long, my dumb little brain thanks you a hundred times
I’m going to show this to my drummer friends
Show it to your bassist friends too.
@@elijahdage5523 As a bassist this is so much fun to play

I guess you could say he modified the tempo?
🤣😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😁😁😀😀😂😂😂🤣🤣😂🤣🤣😂🤣😆😆😆
time signatures aren't the same thing as tempo so no you couldn't
@@scheddoche modified the time signature then.
@@scheddoc if it was only the downbeat you could say he modified the tempo, but not in this case
this would be awesome for one weird tip
using this for a jazz version of this song
send it to me omg that sounds awesome
@@wcbq i will if i get to finishing it lol
@@graph100did u do it
oh that’s what time signatures are
honestly im more confused
Sending this to my friend who’s a drum major
YOU CAN MAJOR IN DRUM????
So this is why it feels like something's off...
Does this mean this song is technically math rock?
no its lemon demon
@@wcbq shut up \*switches time into 7/8\*
@@ldbonq are we rping
It feels kinda like prog pop to me imo
Wouldn’t the two 7/8ths part just be a normal 8/8 followed by a 6/8 though? From the :28 - :32 second point I’m referring to
could be interpreted either way tbh
it could be but it just felt more 7/8y to me
subtle oddities is also a fun one!
can you do this for one weird tip by lemon demon?
this is cool but i still dont understand what the 2nd number in the measure does
to describe it to the best of my ability:

i don't understand, these all are the same to me
the number are different that’s why they’re different 😊
