    Greetings, Sharon
As they say never too late, at 72 I'm attempting to learn wood carving, as hobby and to keep busy.
I'm pretty impressed at your patience, in demonstrating how to stairup step by step 🚶‍♀️ to reach a complete figurine.
Your teaching technique is easy if followed, to acquire finishing even a complex project.
    Hearty Thanks Sharon.🙏 😊 🙏

I remember learning to carve these "compact characters" from following Jack Price's instructions in his book entitled "Carving Compact Characters". My first little man was quite pudgy and a little simplistic; but practice, practice, practice; and my later characters began turning out quite nicely. Then I began carving the heads on the 45° angle from its body, and also giving them a little sideways glance. I sent Jack a photo of my head-turned characters, and he liked them so much that he included this version in his second book. Nevertheless, you are a great teacher too, and I really enjoy watching your step-by-step instructions, which are very helpful. When I lived in PA, I attended two woodcarving exhibitions and competitions near Philadelphia from 1987 - 2000. After garnering about 100 top awards in the competitions, I stopped competing and just attended craft shows to sell my work. Now I live in Vienna, Austria, and do not carve too much these days. Thanks for sharing your talent and skill with us. Much appreciated!

A shame that the cameraman was completely clueless… also a pity that you didn’t do any more videos because you are an excellent teacher. A great tutorial!

Hi Sharon, I have thoroughly enjoyed watching these videos on making these cute little folk. I have looked at your web course too but I notice it's been two years since these videos were added and you haven't added to them with more characters. Please tell me if you are likely to add to them as I am eager to make more characters now I have the carving bug. I've watched many others on here but you explain things and demonstrate so well I'd rather keep on learning with you.

@ Richard... How about Bruce Henn, Pete Leclair, Don Mertz, Floyd Rhadigan? The list of caricature carvers goes on and on.. Its still her style of carving. If you draw a stick figure to you give credit to the first people who drew on cave walls?

Very frustrating when you can't see the cut you're making, and then when you take your hand away you lift the block off the table out of the shot. I am following this step by step, carving as I go and this is very frustrating.

I think it would be correct to give credit to Jack Price for these caricatures you are demonstrating. He created a video on these and produced a book on creating the Compact Character. Do the right thing.
