@Porter Muraoka I doubt that. Each judge has a limited number of slots they can fill, and if they turn they MUST accept that person (if nobody else turns). I think it much more likely that judges are looking for particular aspects in the voices that they hear. Sometimes they just hear 'it' (and we can too, most people just aren't trained to understand the mechanical aspects of it.) When we suddenly get goosebumps, when music makes us burst out in tears out of the blue, when that mysterious 'something' shocks us, rips the emotion out of us, we're hearing it. It's just something you hear a voice hit a particular run, or bridge, and you can just know from that series of notes that what you are hearing is something special. Great singers all did/do that. Whitney Houston was a great one. Could sing the phone book and make you cry. Ed Sheeran can definitely do it too.
The last singer, the last word he was supposed to say was "cry" but instead he literally left it and actually cried. Unbelievable how it mingled together. Great Stuff.

The slow take on "Do You Want to Hurt Me" really changed the meaning and emotion of the song. You know a classic when that song can be manipulated it in different ways or even in a different language, and still strikes up the right emotion for the audience.

The slow take on "Do You Want to Hurt Me" really changed the meaning and emotion of the song. You know a classic when that song can be manipulated it in different ways or even in a different language, and still strikes up the right emotion for the audience.
