Dunsy, I like the finish of your friends SG and also thought the fretboard could do with some oil. Both SGs sounded really good but your old SG sounded much better to my old ears.👍🍺
Lovely guitar! Looks like they've used a dark grain filler so it stands against the pale wood, like a reverse of "dog hair" finish that uses light grain filler on a dark background.
It’s a smasher! Great sounding guitar too. Strangely enough 2 of ma pals bought them the same week from the same place - ahm no allowed as apparently I already have enough guitars. Which cannie actually be a thing? 🥳
I love SG's.... mine is from around 1990-91. Still plays great too.... being a southpaw of course I had to be Phoney Iommi in a Sabbath cover band called Sabra Cadabra.... might have told you that before i think. I love that colour as well as their Pelham Blue model too....
Phoney Iommi is an absolute work of genius! 😂. I haven’t owned too many SG’s over the years, but I was well impressed with the sound and playability of this one. Super light too.
Lovely guitar. I'm pretty sure from the serial number, that's a 2023 guitar though. Stamped on 29th September (292nd day of the year). The last four digits are meant to be a tally of the numbers stamped that day but I've been told, they don't start at one! It's worth remembering that the stamp is under the lacquer, so the stamping date is somewhere in the middle of production. There's so much variation in TV yellow finishes. That one looks just right!
You could be right, buddy. The site I entered the number into said 2022, but it didn’t make a lot of sense that the guitar had been in the shop for so long. Great sounding instrument - way better neck profile for me than my ‘72 one, which is super skinny.
22 according to the site I looked up - I think the newer ones have the year as the first 2 digits. Just to add more confusion to Gibson serial numbers! 😆
Now, that looks like a fun one to play! Sounds great. I'm personally undecided about the newer SG necks, but I have to guess that their slightly larger size adds to the overall sound. At least, most of the newer ones I've played recently had a bit more mass to 'em. As always, job well done, Dunsy!
Very Cool, Thankyou Dunsy. WOW, what a stunning guitar. Looks and sounds amazing. Playing awesome as always. OMG, The 'Final Tune' brilliant. Nice Work mate. All the Best. Cheers
I think with TV yellow Gibson's you're meant to see the grain, but when Epiphone brought out their Les Paul Special TV yellow models you couldn't see the grain. But they looked nice none the less.
@@DunsysGuitarWorld Sound good too, but the frets were shocking. I tried 3 different ones and the frets were an absolute disgrace. So you have to factor in another £100 on the price to fix that. The Gibson model is 4 times the price.
Excellent-sounding and looking guitar. They're my kind of humbuckers - very lively tending a bit more to the bright side. Thanks for a great vid and tune at the end.
I was really impressed with the sounds of these pickups - not sure of the thinner body adds a wee bit to the top end rather than a thicker body Les Paul?
Beautiful clean and overdriven sounds from all 3 positions! Nice looking guitar Dunsy and a great vid! Love your laid back presentation mate.
Thanks buddy, yeah a really nice sounding instrument. I liked it.

Yeah it’s a lovely looking instrument - crazy that 2 friends bought exactly the same model from the same place in the one week!
magnifique partage belle découverte 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸👏👏👏👏👏👏

@@DunsysGuitarWorld what is this word "enough"? I don't understand!
I own this same guitar in cherry. I swapped the pickups for a set of seymour duncan 59s. I absolutely love it. Great playing, Dunsy.
Lovely guitars! Thanks for checking it out, mucho appreciated.

Is it not a 2023, the first and fifth digits of the serial number? Or have they changed the system over the last few years?

A really great sounding instrument, I have to say. I was very impressed. Much easier to play than the tiny neck width on the 72 one.
Sounds great and it's a looker. Very nice.
I was very impressed with these pickups - the right amount of bite for overdrive.
*_Great video, Dunsy! I have the 2022 Gibson SG Standard in Silver Mist… Absolutely killer guitar!_* 🤘
Sounded magnificent on the Elton John tune!
@@DunsysGuitarWorld *_Thanks mate!_*
That’s a stunner Dunsy. The grain through the finish 🥰. Great sounding pickups too.
A great playing guitar and sounds braw!
Very nice 🙂 great colour! One day I'll get one!😃👍🏻
You deserve a lovely guitar just like that!

Thank ya buddy. Yeah a lovely instrument - very inspiring I thought.
Hi Dunsy,ya need to make a song outta that tune, get Auld Reekie rockin' again! 🤘 🙏
Thank ya Sir - always some good Rockin’ to be had round my way!

Yeah, my friend has one of the Epi Specials and it’s a lovely looking guitar.

Great vid Dunsy loved yer toon at the end, nice work mate... You heading to see Warrior Soul in bannermans next week? 👍🤘
Cheers Sir - I'm off to the US next week on holiday. Missing the Warrior Soul and Tigertailz shows. Boo!

I thought the older SG looked thicker than the modern one.
Nice Urge Overkill invocation.
Best riff KISS never wrote! I think Cass maybe sat in on drums for them at a shows(s) in the UK at some point.
Killer axe! Excellent explanation
Thanks for checking it out buddy.
@@DunsysGuitarWorld You're welcome
Nice one, Dunsy! 👍🏻👍🏻 Sweet end tune!
Glad you enjoyed it!
