How to make Super's anime good: -Shintani or Kubota as art director -Story follows the manga with slight improvements -A year+ of pre-production time to ensure Daima level animation
Dunno how much a year would help Super. Daima is 20 episodes, you can plan out the entire storyboard and pipeline in a year. DBS is 130 episodes. You simply need an entirely different method of planning to get Daima quality out of that long a series. Maybe if you go to the new route of "make a season, take 2 seasons off" would work.
4:56 to be fair the mafuba hadn't been used since the last arc of og dragon ball so something like this being forgotten is fine with me. (especially after roshi just now tries to remind goku about the 2nd most essential part of the move)
I think it's mostly from the way it was produced. When adapting a manga into anime, manga is more about the reading, so characters staying consistent, and having good writing is more important. But since super was produced more as a tv show, then an adaptation, tv shows tend to prioritize action and fight scenes then staying consistent. Not saying there aren't shows that have been made for tv, and have both great animation and story, but it's just how things were produced.
I don't expect it to be 1:1, but I feel a few simple tweaks to the power scaling could have at least made it believable. Like, the whole "absorbed God into base" singlehandedly threw everything into whack, to the point where Base Cabba vs SSJ4 Gogeta can be a wash either way depending on how you interpret that single fact. Just have it wear off and a lot is fixed. And give training arcs for the others to be somewhat on par with Buu saga levels, something manga can't show as easily.
1:59 It's the same about the ssg absorbed in the manga as well the next arc shows Goku tanking a Ssgss attack which would be absolutely impossible if he didn't absorb it and yes he did draw the freezer arc but to promote the Movie(so there wasn't any need to redraw it again) and it also shows goku absorbed ssg
@ShafickBuabeng-il9he universe 6 tournament Goku tanks Vegeta's Ssgss attack and has almost no injury and if he didn't absorb the ssg power he would be dead instantly
Jiren was also clearly holding back as soon as he really tried he one tapped Roshi. So if the fight was animated scene would’ve lasted less than a minute but the impact it had on Goku was pivotal. Plus living as long as he did, Roshi must really be trying to master himself to the highest degree. Almost like a Buddha or something.
One correction of Perfected Super Saiyan Blue. It’s not that Blue had a stamina drain before, but it’s that the power of the form would essentially start to diminish over time cause its strength would leak out. Goku and Vegeta weren’t exactly getting tired while using it, they just were only able to use 10% of the forms power after a long time of using it. Great video though.
@ Think about it more like this: a piston can put out a certain amount of force, but over time it starts to not be able to move as well because the gears aren’t maintained and so it starts to be able to make slower movements. Thats what was happening with Blue. This is different from the piston running on a sort of battery and thus starting to slow because the power it’s receiving is diminishing. Blue in the manga requires a lot of ki control to use to its full extent. Whereas Super Saiyan 3 just drains the ki of whoever is using the form and exhausting them.
@@pagawn1640while definitely different, they’re both the same thing in practice. In fact, for stamina of living biological beings, both piston analogies apply, sorta. Main takeaway, not that big of a difference.
@ maybe, but it just always seemed that the different ways they were explained was done for a reason, but that may not be the case. I still have a feeling that the two ways are different, but I could be wrong.
Yup. As a long time Dragonball and DBZ fan of 20yrs i hated the anime so much. I read the whole manga back in 2019 and caught up and was blown away how much better it truely was. I wish Toei held off and adapted the manga instead of doing their own rubbish. Toyotaro is an amazing successor to Toriyama and Dragonball is in great hands.
Nah I couldn’t disagree more at least for the Universal Tournament Arc. That was awful in the Manga. Anime>Manga when it comes to that. The U6 & Black arc were ok though.
The thing with the goku black arc about vegito in the anime being relative to zamasu while in the manga vegito absolutely was destroying him, the thing is vegito in the anime was fighting corrupted merged zamasu who is much stronger than just merged zamasu who was already stronger than both blue goku and blue vegeta but in the manga they didn't do corrupted zamasu so in the anime it makes sense why vegito has his hands full with zamasu in the anime

I think the manga does every arc better besides the ToP. Sure the anime’s version is a bit stretched out, but the manga’s version feels too rushed and I hate the ending
The ToP was mostly better in the manga too imo, because in the anime it was just the Goku and Vegeta show. They got all the coolest and best fights whereas the others were just there for support. The manga actually had Roshi understand through his experience the concept of Ultra Instinct and briefly dodging a suppressed Jiren's attacks, it had Gohan have a cool fight with Kefla and Frieza be the true MVP of the tournment since he fought alone all three U6 saiyans and was able to eliminate Cabba, all three wolves brothers, frost, toppo, dyspo and jiren (with Goku's help), whereas in the anime he was just humiliated over and over and was only useful to give Goku an hand here and there.
Definitely agree here. Vegeta was so well written in the Manga’s Goku Black Arc (and the Moro Arc) it’s almost night and day compared to his Anime version. I did think Goku Black’s characterisation was better in the Anime (we saw him smiling when he was losing, compared to the Manga where Vegeta looking at him was getting under his skin) but the sudden progression, extra trips to the future from our fighters and scythe bullshit/misunderstanding of Vegeta’s power made him Ribrianne levels of annoying. Also the Trunks’ “Boo Arc” portion that was later adapted into Kakarot was amazing; if the whole arc was just that, I would’ve been more than ok. The biggest improvement I thought the Manga has was the ToP Arc (which is funny because many fans have criticised this). Beyond the point you mentioned about Ultra Instinct, it disposes of the fodder characters quickly (unlike the Anime that was paced like sludge and forced Goku into what felt like every fight), Caulifla and Kale are actually likeable and how they fused into Kefla was better and Jiren feels like more of a character.
I think the fight between full power super Saiyan blue goku vs zamasu is fire as fuck way better than what we got in the anime now the TOP arc i was mixed on but i enjoyed it
@@Eonity Alr I just finished it. I still don’t agree with your take but I understand why you think the manga is better. Especially with goku forgetting the tag in the anime
9:06 I remember a theory video that said about how the movies are a separate canon from the manga and anime due to akira toriyama controlling the entirety of the movies and that ultra instinict came too early in the manga and anime compared to when he wanted it to be.
The manga was definteley better up until the TOP. The TOP was much better in the anime. The whole vibe of ultra instinct and the build up of its power was really cool. Seeing Jiren charge up a powerful attack inly for goku to vanish and then appear casually catching the attack and then screaming so loud his aura resembled a universe or galaxy was so fun to watch. In the manga it just jumps straight to gokus silver haired form and doesnt care about building the scene. It was so sudden and made the scene far less intense. Anime's have the advantage of music and voice acting to enhance a scene compared to the manga. However, mangas are typically superior to the anime due to their striking art. However dragon ball has never had a very interesting or striking artsyle in its manga compared to many other mangas. So what you see in the anime is basically what you see in the manga in terms of visuals. Whereas with something like OPM the manga visuals compared to the anime visuals are night and day. The manga is not very good at portraying the impact of a scene very well. Like just look at the destroyer battle royal in the manga. The destroyers all move and fight like every other character we've ever seen even tho they're meant to be the best of the best and on another level. The manga just doesnt know how to portray the impact of a scene properly. In the anime we get a brief clash of a few destroyers just before the TOP starts and the scene had much more impact than the manga. The scene felt like it was 3 elite warriors clashing and the entire screen was shaking and the scene was coloured darker. Even a simple scene was able to convey more than a literal battle royale of destroyers in the manga. Its so bizarre how the manga was so lacking here. This was a scene with universal level gods fighting each other and yet it had less impact and intensity than a fight between two street level martial artists ive seen in other mangas.
the manga did it very well as well. having it be a page turn and he's punching jiren in the stomach with a whole new form. it doesn't JUMP straight to goku's silver haired form, and makes more sense and makes it feel less like a power trip form and more like a martial arts form. it's not supposed to be intense. it's pure tranquility. the anime vs manga debate is just subjective, there aren't any objective opinions on it. I prefer the manga for ANYTHING usually. I agree the DBS manga was kinda poor at first, but my point was simply that it was written far better. the clash between destroyers was nowhere near as cool as seeing all the gods fight each other, seeing their abilities at play. what do you want it to be? You want them to destroy everything? I don't understand your points.
You do know that controlling ki is how they fly and do ki blasts right? What do you mean they “introduced it” in super. Not to be mean, but that’s a SHOCKINGLY stupid mistake to make
He mentions "ki control", I'm guessing as in suppressing, hence why he shows goku in blue vs krilin. Also he mentions how blue substitutes every other form in the anime, by the explanation that with this ki control they can use use ssgss for everything. While in the cell saga they stayed in ssj the whole time, there's that one scene where goku sends chichi through a wall due to him not being able to fully control his strength (not sure if that's filler) I'm guessing that's what he means by ki control. Not that ki was introduced in DBS
@@sorlakvader155 are you stupid? Suppressing your power has been a thing since as far as I know the Sayian Saga, probably before. Literally one of the reasons Raditz and Nappa lost WAS because they didn’t realize just how strong Goku (and Piccolo too in the case of Raditz)
@sorlakvader155 that's a gag and they've always been always suppress their ki its always why characters in the saiyan and frieza saga were surprised when they read power levels in their scouters
I never said they can’t control their ki, ki control as an ability allows the user to raise and lower their ki to whatever point necessary, something they had in base form but not in any other forms until super. They introduced the idea of ki control in the blue form, not the idea of ki control as an idea. Not to be mean, but that’s a SHOCKINGLY stupid mistake to make.
I am gonna respectfully disagree I think every manga arc is worse then it's anime counterpart and the anime being first was doing a lot of heavy lifting at the time so everyone could focus on the mangas improvement and not it's flaws I mean a whole arc about future trunks and he's a whole side character his whole timeline gone and it's like he don't even care and they send him off like he can handle things now when he got like 2%
Nah brother trunks fully cries in the anime like he knows it's a semi failure and even though it made no sense he got a lot stronger in the anime in order to protect the future meanwhile in the manga the same thing could happen again and he'd have to go for help again. As for the Top I just feel there were a few things that had much more significance because it had a lot more time then the manga to flesh things out like 17 and 18 had more important moments god of destruction topo the master roshi eps but I feel most importantly ui feels more impactful because of the pacing in the manga ui goes by so quick and none of the gods really give big reaction to it only beerus does and it's of annoyance that Goku mastered it before him it's like it's just a ability the gods know of but it's not that special but in the anime whis is overjoyed and proud all the gods stand when he masters it and beerus is in a mix of complex emotions that just makes it feel like something beyond a normal new form and the longer pace led to some more interaction in eps that's just not in the manga at all.
@@scorchingdoe9467 I feel like when I watch dbs at any moment logic will just go out the window just becuse of the plot sometimes the manga feels like that to but in the anime nothing makes sense the anime does have a lot of cool moments but you have to go through episodes of nonsense to get there I don't care that roshi gets a episode of spotlight and everyone gets these stupid power ups if it makes no sense and the annoying thing is most of this stuff could easily be avoided if they cared I will say as much as the anime gets on my nerves there is something about hearing the English voice cast that just makes me forget all supers problems maby I need to watch the whole thing again in English but I still prefer the manga any day

@@SquidBerry thanks for the compliment I really appreciate it but how don’t I I have a lack of understanding of the power system? And how don’t I understand ki control
the anime canon contradicts itself, and it still goes against whis' explanation. that's why goku couldn't master the form and had to revert to an alternate version of UI omen to fight.
I almost feel like granolah was a reaction to angry MUI anime Goku being so hyped. I don't hate PUI, but I feel like the idea of UI itself shouldn't have focused so much on "calm" to begin with. I get it from a martial arts perspective, but the idea of Saiyans always revolved around rage and resolve. As a tiny fan craft I feel UI shoulda been more about "focus" than "instinct". Enter a state where you're so entranced in the enemy you read and predict their every movement. Rage in that case can still compliment the focus in that bloodshot sort of way. Also leaves the obvious weakness of overall peripherals. It wouldn't be great in a scene with multiple targets.
I couldn’t disagree more at least for the Universal Tournament Arc. That was awful in the Manga. Anime>>>Manga when it comes to that. The U6 $ Black arc were ok though.
Eh tbh they hinted at Goku surpassing ssg in his base when he trains with whis in promotional chapter for RoF when ssg shows behind Goku while Goku is still in base.

I will say the dbs anime felt like typical Toei meddling their hands in the source material to try and create over dramatic scenes that are way closer than they should be that screw with the power scaling and consistency with the story. As you said in the video with characters matching up to Super Saiyan Blue when they really shouldn't. This isn't a dragon ball specific problem either, Toei has done this with One piece as well where they over dramatize or over do scenes simply to get more minutes into the anime but end up screwing the pacing and power scaling. An easy example would be Luffy's king kong punch against Doflamingo, in the manga it was a one shot ko instant hit, there was no time for Doflamingo to react to this attack and its devastating power. In the anime they took what was supposed to be a few pages or even panels into practically 5 minutes of people reacting and slow motion. It's pretty obvious they were simply trying to get as many moments in as well as elongating run time simply to sell something, you can see this no further than the Goku Black arc. There were SEVERAL TIMES where this arc should've ended but they kept pulling stuff out of no where to keep milking the story. I will never forgive them for not giving Future Trunks the win and simply deleting his time line.
@yeetmeister3055 let's be super for real future trunks should had been able to murder body snatched goku. from the anime perspective goku black didn't have instant transmission until later nor ssj . future timeline gohan and goku wouldn't had have the training of fighting cell perfect cell. and the games atleast implies trunks took care of majin buu before his revival so technically trunks should be the strongest saiyan of his timeline besides gohan if he was revived again
@@pickledeluxe4636 I think it was proven that trunks took care of majin Buu effectively but it costed the life of the supreme Kai. And yes I whole heatedly agree trunks should've made short work of Goku black, hell I'm certain Vegeta SSB should've made short work of black. It's as Vegeta said Goku black was just a copy there's no reason for him to match Gokus power, let alone surpass him. Captain Ginyu was the first to steal his body and easily ran into this wall. IDC how long Goku black spent in Goku's body no matter how hard he trains he can't be Goku, Vegeta spent the entirety of Z chasing that and he wasn't able to come close to Goku's power and learned to simply concede and respect Gokus drive. The entirety of DBZ follows the idea of mind, body, spirit. Goku black is an antithesis to this so the fact that they pulled out random strength feats for him is a testament to how much they wanted to sell this character. Super Saiyan rose and the weird scythe thing are obvious picks, they are cool designs don't get me wrong but they make no sense in the grand scheme of things and barely get an explaination. Hell the MANGA does explaining super Saiyan rose better by juxtaposing it with the normal super Saiyan state Goku black.
Dragonball is the only anime where the anime comes first before the manga Like bro???? Manga would always be better than the anime, for a powerscaler the anime is a nightmare How you gonna make trunks compete with ssjB level charachters?
"Slow incline" which translates to him going from weaker than SS2 Vegeta to stronger than Blue in the *same fight,* meanwhile the anime had him fight Goku and get bodied which leads to him learning to apply his body more like Goku which then allows him to get much stronger, meaning he got stronger a lot slower than he ever did in the manga. You might as well not have bothered with this one.
He literally just attained the equivalent of blue. I don’t see how that’s an issue? The anime had him lose to super saiyan 2 Goku, get the form literally the next time he saw them and completely fodderize ssb Vegeta. Definitely a far cry from “learning to apply his body more like Goku” especially compared to him fighting Vegeta AS A SUPER SAIYAN, and literally saying he can’t go beyond it yet. Therefore foreshadowing the form itself. This is literally fantastic writing and people shrug it off cause the anime was just more hype at random moments
Because even in the manga after he got rosé he still wasn’t outclassing them by any means. He gradually got to that point. In the anime he literally IMMEDIATELY outclasses them and they somehow just get stronger in mere seconds. The manga has much more consistent and better feeling inclination.
@@Eonity yeah, no, Black was literally outclassing Vegeta as a regular Super Saiyan while Vegeta was in BLUE, only to outclass them even more after going Rose, there was no "feeling inclination" at all, he just got ridiculously stronger ridiculously fast and turned the tides, you could even say he got stronger in SECONDS, unlike the anime where he actually had a few days to acclimate and prepare, did you actually read the manga? I don't see how that's in anyway "fantastic writing" because it's barely deeper than a kiddie pool.
@ super saiyan goku black was literally losing to blue Vegeta. Vegeta asks why doesn’t he go blue and black angrily says he can’t, while beat up. Zamasu had to heal him from near death cause he got cooked. The anime is a bunch of power jumps for the sake of it and isn’t consistent at all. There isn’t any writing to it. Goku black goes to the past, loses, gets rosé, and is constantly able to power gap them within mere moments every time they get the upper hand. It’s just ping ponging back and forth. He literally whips out a move that he DIDNT KNOW WHAT IT WAS while fighting Vegeta. What kind of awful writing is that. Like, you have to be rage baiting
@Eonity yeah, I don't think even you believe that, but whatever, it's not like either the Super manga or anime are very consistent in it's quality anyway, I don't really have any stakes on this.
Agreed (on the former more than the latter). Think about it. If Goku can punch away a planet destroying Ki attack, how could he do something as simple as open a door, hold a glass cup or hold his wife in his arms without breaking them? It just seems that there’d be limit on how much strength he could hold back. And Goku at this point is universal (we’ll just say this to downplay his insane level of power, because that level alone is insane in consider), so it’s logical to say that he has to hold back a ridiculous amount of strength and speed in order to interact with everything (even in Z, being a solar system or galaxy level threat also is pretty ridiculous).
@@Eonityit didn’t introduce anything whis taught them how to properly use their ki, without it leaking out with every attack they make they must keep it in leading to discovering blue and with the whole kaioken thing ssb is the perfect form to stack it on because it’s souly represents control and tranquility.
Imma hard I would agree with everything y said up until the tournament of power , I think the anime did it better cause it felt more organized the manga felt like fights where happening to close yet so far away, it also was way to fast and Goku going ui is a bit underwhelming compared to the manga, I would tell anyone consuming dbz to watch the tournament of power instead of reading it
I think the slow tournament of power in the anime was really bad, especially weekly. We saw characters they didnt even try to make us care about for weeks on end with nothing important happening and stale animation until universe 7 fought. The manga just got all the good parts and made them better, while throwing out all the meaningless fluff. Ultra instinct, as cool as it is in the anime, isn’t supposed to be the most ultimate power up transformation. It’s supposed to be a tranquil constant flow state. The anime made it feel like a power trip
@ yeah cause at the time the anime was ahead of the manga so that’s why it’s a finale form feeling, I just really don’t like the manga adaptation it went by hella fast, off screen fights, overall not an enjoyable read . The anime had some terrible pacing but it had a lot more peaks Ssbe vegta vs toppo, Goku vs kefla , Goku vs jiren, hit and Goku vs jiren, mui vs jiren, universe 7 vs jiren, and the final fight was spectacular, the anime had so pretty bad moments but it felt more like a battle against other universe , also the master roshi vs jiren fight boiled my blood completely cause how tf is he even able to keep up with jiren for a millisecond
7:02 I still find this to be stupid as the Cell Juniors should be stronger than 17 no matter what, & they could've gotten one of them to replace Buu when their team is down to nine members
Well those Jr's would assumedly be the same power as a decade ago at that point. No reason 17 couldn't have trained even casually and gotten maybe SSJ2 Gohan levels. Even the the Cell Jr. Power levels were always inconsistent. Maybe they have the power level of cell, but no the durability.
Super takes the usual peculiarities of shonen manga adaptation and takes them to 11. There are a lot of small filler moments in the original Dragon Ball and Z anime that built up some parts that were just glossed over in the manga by Toriyama. But, a lot of those "filler lore" moments contradict and diminish parts of the "canon lore" that comes before or after. Best example I can think of is Trunks' backstory being rewritten several times. Now apply that kind of thing to a situation where the anime studio is actually churning out show faster than the manga and creating a whole different canon. My understanding is Toei basically got the Sparknotes from Toriyama and filled in everything else themselves, more or less what happened with GT to similar results I'd argue. On the other hand, Toyotaro was working directly with Toriyama in writing the manga, with a lot less corporate interference. Much more direct connection to the intended story. Toyotaro's also much more aware of Dragon Ball lore than Toei. The editors got involved a lot with the original Dragon Ball manga. But by Super, Toriyama was pretty much the God of Shonen. So, it's reasonable to expect the manga was as close to Toriyama's vision as possible given having another writer and artist.
I wanted to talk about how Toriyama has given direct input on the manga, essentially “okaying“ every single chapter and even adding notes/fixing drawings for Toyotaro. While the anime just did whatever and rarely ever asked for input from Toriyama, probably so that he wouldn’t have control and they could keep making new forms for new toys. I agree whole heartedly
@@Eonity The input Toriyama did have, especially from the outset with Battle of the Gods, is probably what saved Super from just being another GT. The man was the father of modern shonen for a reason.
@Eonity I heavily disagree. There's things I definitely prefer in both over the other. Battle of Gods movie handled the whole arc better than the anime or the manga. Gohan fighting Kefla over Goku is a bit of a toss up for me. UI was better handled and explained in the manga. That said, my statement still holds true. We definitely need to see these fights and arcs animated. I'd much prefer them continue Super anime than this weird Daima bs.
I think everything in the manga is better until the T.O.P arc. Especially the finale as well as UI's awakening, when the anime finally reaches its peak. However, SSJB Kaioken was a cool addition to the Universe 6 arc.
I think UIs awakening was perfect in the manga. A simple understanding of the idea and tranquil, as it should be. The anime, as cool as the moments are, made it feel like a power trip
@Eonity I think the anime and manga versions of the original transformation were both really cool. I do prefer the anime, though, because (1) Roshi doing that well against Jiren was straight bs and (2) UI lasted for like a page and basically did nothing. I will say, the MUI transformation was WAY better in the anime.
Tbf I wouldnt say he got rid of God being absorbed, its more likely he skipped it, remember the Manga wasnt even gonna be its own thing at the time, it was just to promote Battle of Gods, hell Toyotaro even tells you to watch the Movie for details.
He tells you to watch it for more details because the manga was originally just promotion for the anime. Then it eventually became its own thing, cementing its own canon. If it didn’t happen in the manga, then it didn’t happen. Statements shouldn’t be taken if the story contradicts it
@@Eonity It doesn't contradict that statement tbf as that doesn't change the fact Goku can still absorb God Narratively, remember, Dende in the Moro Arc outright says Goku's Ki is God level and yet he could heal someone like Gohan easily (Who was Blue level in the ToP) and yet not Goku (Ik it was because of the wound but the god level ki was also a factor),
@ it doesn’t outright state he DIDNT absorb it but there are things that point towards that idea. toyotaro never showed saiyan beyond god like the anime. and gokus ki has divinity because he’s used super saiyan god and blue a bunch, but that’s different than being on the level of a god. It would also probably be a lot to heal the supreme Kai even though he’s actually way weaker than Gohan, especially at that point lol.

@ no that’s just your head canon, goku literally said after Beerus told him that’s just to show you how big the universe really is which goku replied by saying not just the universe take that guy 17 as an example he doesn’t do much but somehow he’s just as strong as us (him and vegeta) He is, no he didn’t lol he held he’s own with blue goku multiple times and he even hold blue goku and trunks that they couldn’t move long enough for black to charge the kamehameha Roses black > goku & vegeta and zamasu is somewhere around that level too Vegito should have trouble with him because if he didn’t in the anime it wouldn’t make any sense in the manga he was stronger because black and zamasu in the manga are weak compared to the anime, ain’t you the one complaining about power creeps before
Most part I do agree but do highlight some scenes in which super did perform better. Take the demeanor of goku black in super and manga. In manga, hes a whiny bitch who cries if his expected outcomes differ by the slightest but in super, hes composed, egoistic and cool.
Frrr. Zamasu in the manga is arguably the worst main antagonist but one of the best in the anime. I think ppl like it more cuz he’s more “digestible”, but it makes him very surface level n whiny like u said. Not to say the manga version isn’t, but Anime Zamasu is more multilayered. He’s increasingly unstable but resolved n more respectable
@@Eonity You answered it yourself.. now tell did "goku black" ever cry? And do go off saying merged zamasu is literally goku black (zamasu) fused with zamasu so it doesnt matter but dude, you of all should know fusions have their own personalities
Ppl who get upset at the Blue Goku vs Krillin fight just have poor media literacy skills I’m sorry. Blue is explicitly described as having perfect ki control over a larger margin of power than SS. Remember, it's PERFECTED SS stacked ON TOP of SSG. In Blue, Goku can drop his ki to nearly deadly levels, and ALSO raise it to godly levels. In perfected SS, he can do almost the same, but it's restricted to his non godly power. So since Blue is better in every way, why would he use it over SS? Using it on Krillin would just make it look like he's disrespecting him by not going all out. PLEASE explain to me how this is hard to understand
Think of it like this. In SS, he can draw all his power from 0 (near death) to 50 (max possible power). In SSB, he can do this exact same thing but break that 50 limit barrier to 150. So he can get as weak as Krillin if he wants, and also get as strong as Vegeta in the same breath. Please watch the show from DB all the way through to DBS people 🤦♂️
@nationwideris except that it is outright unessecary. Perfected super saiyan was literally all about perfect ki control they could literally sleep in that form. Goku was hurt by a rock in that form. There is zero logical reason for krillin who never trained and got one shot by base goku to be able to compete with blue goku in any capacity. If goku could just supress his power in blue to below that level why even go to blue then when he could do the same with just mastered super saiyan. The end power output would still be the same due to the severity of the ki suppression. It is pointless and unnecessary and if you are trying to argue that krillin is stronger than super saiyan goku then that alone is already a problem when he already got one shot by base goku not that long prior. There is no reason why krillin should be above base goku level and especially super saiyan goku level. This is made all the more clear by the events of the moro arc in the manga. So, it is not the idea of ki suppression that makes people dislike blue goku vs krillin it is the story and power implications that it brings to the forefront by having krillin beam clash with blue goku regardless of ki control. It serves zero narrative purpose and contributes nothing to the events of the story krillin still get sent out the arena very early on.
blue goku fighting against krillin is really shitty writing. having goku use his STRONGEST FORM to prove a point is awful, when he has 4 other forms and his base that are all above multiversal.
@nationwideris an interesting explanation other than the fact that krillin is not even comparable to base goku in terms of strength. So, why in the world would goku need to go above basic mastered super saiyan when he can do what he does in blue but without having to suppress his ki to such an extent. See, in this scenario, he does not need to be able to reach 150 when just 50 is already far beyond anything krillin could handle. The fact is turning into blue regardless still takes more energy then turning into super saiyan it is why after being drained in the top he had to slowly work his way back up through his different forms until he could turn blue again. So, considering he fought krillin literally a few hours before the start of the top, it would have made far more sense to not go above super saiyan in order to conserve energy. The worst part about it is it accomplished nothing anyway. krillin was still one of the earliest members of universe 7 to get knocked out of the arena by base goku victims. Making it one of the most pointless and inconsistent scenes in dragonball.
@@IllusorySpectre***Emphasis on Blue Goku behind able to drop his ki to practically nothing (AKA Krillin tier)*** Again, Goku doesnt NEED TO. That’s literally the whole point. It’s a sign of respect. Exactly what Gohan called him out for during his own fight with him before the tournament. Gohan said himself that Goku withholding the form was basically him calling him a hoe. Come on analyze a little instead of taking things at face value
I do agree completely, so much stuff i disliked about the anime was fixed when reading the manga. Also, ive always found roshi dodging Jiren ok. Since this was a heavily suppressed Jiren. Imagine playing with your 5 years old cousin, youre not going to throw a punch at full force, but if he managed to catch your hand o dodge it, you'd be surprised. Had jiren went full power he would have killed him, disqualifying himself in the process
The Anime is better until the Moro and Granolah arcs. I personally don't like the Manga Future Arc, and the Manga T.o.P was hot garbage. But, the Moro arc is arguably the best arc in Super (Might even be top 3 best arcs in Dragon Ball besides Namek and Cell Saga).
I agree I enjoy the manga way more and wish the anime did thing more like the manga, I don’t mind the whole absorbed god into base concept they just handled it very poorly and it felt like that had a transformation quota so they could sell merch
I couldn’t disagree more at least concerning the Universal Tournament Arc. That was god awful in the Manga. Anime>>>Manga when it comes to that. The U6 and Black arc where ok though.
Lol nah DBS manga doesn't out class anime im not a fan of Toyotaura writing...when he had Roshi fighting Jiren i knew i couldn't take him seriously anymore....Toriyama will definitely be missed beyond words
@Eonity if im not mistaken just like with the anime Toriyama gave an outline which is why the events in manga and anime run parallel with the same overall outcome but different filler
@Eonity Toriyama was also sick and dealing with health issues so theres no telling how much involvement he had outside of the outline on the later arcs ...Daima was supposed to be the most involved he was on a project in a long time ....regardless manga wasnt that impressive had too much contradiction i couldn't take it seriously especially over the manga...but now its no more DBS anime so manga is all thats left so we'll see what happens
@ he was not sick all the way from 2018 till now you’re just making that point purely to upholster your argument. Toriyama put more into the manga than the anime
I like how the manga actually gives explanations on things even if they aren't perfect it's better than nothing And I like how power scaling in the manga makes a lot more sense like roshi was only faster than jiren because of his temporary UI wis did say that if Goku and Vegeta master it they would be able to avoid anything speed wise so it makes sense roshi was able to be faster than jiren just because of UI Kales power is also explained better in the manga because she is literally the sayin from the legend witch makes the fusion make More sense Gohan was training ever sense rof , 17 was training with cell jrs No stupid spirit sword No tingly back Merged zamasu actually feels stronger than Goku and Vegeta before they fuse Hopefully we can get super Kai one day
DBS Manga is the reason why i believe in Toyotaro, let's hope he's having his time for the next arc Also the reason why I'm okay with Dragon Ball anime not having any content, so that the manga can cook first
Sir you lack any quality of critical thinking If you think dragon ball super needed more conservatism and moderate power progression Or that all the humans should just give up and become worse than fodder to base anyone. Then you are wrong ; dragon ball isnt the same without its raw aura and the giant overused of blue in the anime doesnt underwhelm the weight of humans vs blue scenes. Because at the tournament of power THEY ARE useful anyway , regardless of how much goku had to contain himself for obvious reason.
Krillin tien and roshi weren’t “useful” in the tournament of power, 90% of the time they were in the stands used as reaction shots for every damn thing that happened. Dragon Ball Super ABSOLUTELY needed moderate power progression because they made GOKU AND VEGETA UNIVERSE BUSTERS in base, therefore completely fodderizing not just the humans but literally the entire supporting cast. Having blue used in every single episode possible completely demolished the strength it could’ve had because now it’s just however strong the writers want it to be. If you can’t view these simple facts in your interpretation of the show then you have a flawed perspective on how a story should be written.
How to make Super's anime good:
-Shintani or Kubota as art director
-Story follows the manga with slight improvements
-A year+ of pre-production time to ensure Daima level animation
@@NoxiMation on GOD
The fact that 5 episodes of daima are better than majority of DBS is actually insane.

Dude, fire vid 🔥
Yessir
1:59 It's the same about the ssg absorbed in the manga as well the next arc shows Goku tanking a Ssgss attack which would be absolutely impossible if he didn't absorb it and yes he did draw the freezer arc but to promote the Movie(so there wasn't any need to redraw it again) and it also shows goku absorbed ssg
what was the "next arc"
If the power of the form is diminishing because it leaked out that’s called stamina drain lol
Yes I’m very excited to see how it goes in the future. The Moro arc felt like a true return to form for the series

Personally, I just like the anime for funny pewpew animation, and that's good enough for me
@ that’s okay
@@jwilsonred1913 same read both volumes in the library and even though it was rushed I was hella bored
I think the fight between full power super Saiyan blue goku vs zamasu is fire as fuck way better than what we got in the anime now the TOP arc i was mixed on but i enjoyed it
I don’t agree but I’m willing to hear you out

@@Eonity Alr I just finished it. I still don’t agree with your take but I understand why you think the manga is better. Especially with goku forgetting the tag in the anime

9:06 I remember a theory video that said about how the movies are a separate canon from the manga and anime due to akira toriyama controlling the entirety of the movies and that ultra instinict came too early in the manga and anime compared to when he wanted it to be.
Yes from casual anime guy explains, I’ve seen it
The manga was definteley better up until the TOP.
Wasn't goku shown to have the ability to control ki in super saiyan 1 and 3 within the Z series?@Eonity
I am gonna respectfully disagree I think every manga arc is worse then it's anime counterpart and the anime being first was doing a lot of heavy lifting at the time so everyone could focus on the mangas improvement and not it's flaws I mean a whole arc about future trunks and he's a whole side character his whole timeline gone and it's like he don't even care and they send him off like he can handle things now when he got like 2%
The trunks arc ends the same in the manga and anime. The top was done way better with less fluff and bs and better character writing

Goku getting angry in UI doesn’t go aganist whises explanation if you read the granolah & Moro arc
Exactly, but that was the manga's doing. By the anime canon it does contradict itself
the anime canon contradicts itself, and it still goes against whis' explanation. that's why goku couldn't master the form and had to revert to an alternate version of UI omen to fight.

Yeah I agree whole heartedly.
Dragonball is the only anime where the anime comes first before the manga
Like bro????
Manga would always be better than the anime, for a powerscaler the anime is a nightmare
How you gonna make trunks compete with ssjB level charachters?
that isn't true, and only the DBS anime came before the manga. the db manga was before the anime.
I dont really get why they redid the movies into different anime episodes, and at that just completely changed some things at that.
It was ridiculous yeah
Ki control has been a thing since OG Dragon Ball. I'd recommend reading the series before complaining about it.
Agreed (on the former more than the latter). Think about it. If Goku can punch away a planet destroying Ki attack, how could he do something as simple as open a door, hold a glass cup or hold his wife in his arms without breaking them? It just seems that there’d be limit on how much strength he could hold back. And Goku at this point is universal (we’ll just say this to downplay his insane level of power, because that level alone is insane in consider), so it’s logical to say that he has to hold back a ridiculous amount of strength and speed in order to interact with everything (even in Z, being a solar system or galaxy level threat also is pretty ridiculous).
i've never said it wasn't ever a thing, i said the anime introduced ki control in goku's blue form which was bad.
Jiren is oof still
You wanna know the biggest problem? The Super anime stopped after the TOP arc.
everything in the manga up until that point was better in the manga
@@Eonity Actually Toyotaro did draw Saiyan Beyond God in the RoF Mini Manga and RoF was skipped in the manga tbf.
Goku was in Base when Dende made that statement.
@ that isn’t canon to the manga and, again, context matters and it was to promote the show
17 in the manga isn’t on par with ssj3 lol goku was literally beginning him to hold on, and after TOP goku said 17 is as strong as him and vegeta
God power absorbed in base was implied in the manga
Vegito in the anime struggling with merged zamasu makes sense as black > goku & vegeta and zamasu is somewhere near blue level
More than sure Goku just meant 17 is among the strongest fighters
No it wasn’t
Zamasu is NOWHERE NEAR blue level 😭😭he constantly get clapped and only comes back cause he’s immortal. Are you gonna say he gets a zenkai too? At the end of the day Goku black > Goku > Vegeta >>>>>> Zamasu the fusion fight shouldn’t have been close lmfao
@ no that’s just your head canon, goku literally said after Beerus told him that’s just to show you how big the universe really is which goku replied by saying not just the universe take that guy 17 as an example he doesn’t do much but somehow he’s just as strong as us (him and vegeta)
He is, no he didn’t lol he held he’s own with blue goku multiple times and he even hold blue goku and trunks that they couldn’t move long enough for black to charge the kamehameha
Roses black > goku & vegeta and zamasu is somewhere around that level too
Vegito should have trouble with him because if he didn’t in the anime it wouldn’t make any sense in the manga he was stronger because black and zamasu in the manga are weak compared to the anime, ain’t you the one complaining about power creeps before
Most part I do agree but do highlight some scenes in which super did perform better.
I don't see how he's any less whiny in the anime. it's a whole bit that merged zamasu literally cries. lol
He was literally crying against vegito 💀 tf you on.
@@Eonity You answered it yourself.. now tell did "goku black" ever cry? And do go off saying merged zamasu is literally goku black (zamasu) fused with zamasu so it doesnt matter but dude, you of all should know fusions have their own personalities
Did goku black ever fight vegito? Istg like comon bruh think @@keiv2211
Mui of the anime is more like true mui(the mastered version of tui)
Manga still trash tho😂
It's like poo and pee competition (if u compare manga/anime)
Super manga is canon to me only arc better in the anime is the tournament of power
I disagree but that's ok
@Eonity out of curiosity which part you disagree with bro
Manga top felt rushed
i think that's fine, it has less fluff and what else were they supposed to add
hell yeah all my homies hate the dbs anime awooga
WOOO
@@IllusorySpectre***Emphasis on Blue Goku behind able to drop his ki to practically nothing (AKA Krillin tier)***
Again, Goku doesnt NEED TO.
I agree yeah, he got knocked out by jiren the next page
I ain't gonna lie. The top Arc is significantly better in the managa.
Thank you
@@Eonityyeah it’s better on TikTok
Heck no the Universal Tournament is god awful in the manga!😂 Anime over that all day everyday.
Well… one is free one ain’t!
They’re both free 😭
The Anime is better until the Moro and Granolah arcs. I personally don't like the Manga Future Arc, and the Manga T.o.P was hot garbage. But, the Moro arc is arguably the best arc in Super (Might even be top 3 best arcs in Dragon Ball besides Namek and Cell Saga).
yeah i just disagree on everything besides the moro arc being good, cause yeah. its definitely the best arc in super
Same
lol 😂 the manga is just as bad
In what way
I agree I enjoy the manga way more and wish the anime did thing more like the manga, I don’t mind the whole absorbed god into base concept they just handled it very poorly and it felt like that had a transformation quota so they could sell merch
i just feel like it's done poorly
I couldn’t disagree more at least concerning the Universal Tournament Arc. That was god awful in the Manga. Anime>>>Manga when it comes to that. The U6 and Black arc where ok though.
Lol nah DBS manga doesn't out class anime im not a fan of Toyotaura writing...when he had Roshi fighting Jiren i knew i couldn't take him seriously anymore....Toriyama will definitely be missed beyond words
@@Jason5818UI Toriyama wrote the manga
@Eonity if im not mistaken just like with the anime Toriyama gave an outline which is why the events in manga and anime run parallel with the same overall outcome but different filler
@ Toriyama was editing manga panels and such so he definitely had more effect on the manga than the anime
I like how the manga actually gives explanations on things even if they aren't perfect it's better than nothing
And I like how power scaling in the manga makes a lot more sense like roshi was only faster than jiren because of his temporary UI wis did say that if Goku and Vegeta master it they would be able to avoid anything speed wise so it makes sense roshi was able to be faster than jiren just because of UI
Kales power is also explained better in the manga because she is literally the sayin from the legend witch makes the fusion make More sense
Gohan was training ever sense rof
,
17 was training with cell jrs
No stupid spirit sword
No tingly back
Merged zamasu actually feels stronger than Goku and Vegeta before they fuse
Hopefully we can get super Kai one day
Yessir I agree entirely!
🧢
DBS Manga is the reason why i believe in Toyotaro, let's hope he's having his time for the next arc
Also the reason why I'm okay with Dragon Ball anime not having any content, so that the manga can cook first
Yes exactly, let him cook! Then let the anime catch up in a while
Sir you lack any quality of critical thinking
If you think dragon ball super needed more conservatism and moderate power progression
Or that all the humans should just give up and become worse than fodder to base anyone.
They’re both equally trash but the manga is slightly better
Honestly, My Hero Academia has a better anime than Dragon Ball Super.
Ight let’s not get too ahead of ourselves
