I am a 40+-year-old mother of two who just bought my first mountain bike in 20 years during the Covid-19 outbreak to help me get outside. I've been trying to find a series to learn more about my new bike and how to take care of it. I really like your videos and was wondering if you could do a series of videos for complete beginners with no previous bike tech experience. I don't even know what tools might be good to have on hand or how to use them lol. Maybe also do an overview of the bike and its parts and some terminology. I think there are many people like me, who due to the Virus has bought their first bikes, and a series for us newbies would be great :)
icestorm2000 Welcome to cycling! Err... biking in general! I would look through both GMBN and GCN channels. There are already brilliant videos on the topics you mentioned!
I know there's already a gmbn lower leg service video- but it'd be cool to have a full on, in depth gmbn tech video, no stone unturned fork service video :)
Doddy i once did a similar job to my brand x dropper post as you did in the video. Then after a ride i noticed the black paint on the back of the post got skretched off, and i removed the grease. But my specialized dropper loved a treatment.
Great video Doddy I generally clean my bike weekly and lube my chain fortnightly is this to much I would say I do around 140 km a fortnight and ride on very dry and dusty trails cheers 🍻
My shifter would go out of alignment after a week. Then I took a look at the cable. It was fine, bowden was fine, just the bloody caps. The gear cable and squeezed through. My gear adjuster is on the mech and not the device. Up front would be so nice.
Doddy, please demonstrate how you actually change the gear cable. I like listening to you on an HD Video, rather than an old video (recalling that you are a pro). But just show us, the way you described it was too complicated to take in. 😀
Doody, is it okay to use multipurpose silicon spray (like WD-40 silicon) for regular fork and shock legs cleaning/maintenance? Thank you for these tech vids, btw! :)
Another awesome video Doddy! I have a question about the tubeless sealant drying up. If it dries up over time, does it then leave uneven chunks of dry sealant on the inside of your tire? Could this effect the ride and handling of the bike? I guess what I'm really asking is, should the tire come off and old sealant be replaced rather than just adding more?
Why did you take the pads out the front of the calliper? I have the same ones and they come out the back holding the tab so you don’t touch the pad surface, and it’s easier
So can you undo the large nut/top cap at the top of the lower post of a reverb to clean and grease the seals? I’ve always been nervous about tampering with it
#askgmbn Hi Andrew. Would you mind to make a video about how properly wash helmet? Do you have any special way of doing it? I’ve found few videos ob webs but I like to see your ways... from the best chanel on yt. Thanks.
Michal P but you’re dirty pads in your riding socks and then throw them in the washing machine. Then get a soapy rag and wipe down your helmet while the pads aren’t on
Question I have a rockshox monarch plus rc3 hv with a mastearo suspetion linkage, I plan on putting volume reducers in but I only want to take off the top linkage bolt or els I have take off my chainring and my shock has that 2nd cylinder thing on it so I’d like to know are volume spacers stretchy? And can I put it over the top if I slip it under the second cylinder thing and over the shock, will this work? Has anyone tried it?
RIP MisterBassBoost as soon as you fit new pads, (make sure the brakes work) but before you use them properly build up some decent speed on a fire road or any downhill, and brake as hard as you can to a stop. Do that about 5 times and that's you done! There's a video on it too on gmbn :)

Wow it’s like car I didn’t realize it till this video. Luckily my bike front end is not complicated as my vehicle thanks for the video
Keep up the good work. Love your channel

Atta boy Doddy! Nice video
When installing tubeless/valves I put some wet lube on cores so sealant doesn't stick that much to them and it's easy to open them for pumping.
Great video Doddy I generally clean my bike weekly and lube my chain fortnightly is this to much I would say I do around 140 km a fortnight and ride on very dry and dusty trails cheers 🍻
Nick Watkins I clean my drivetrain after just about every ride

My gear adjuster is on the mech and not the device. Up front would be so nice.
Great tips from Doddy.
Could you guys do a video on setting up a coil suspension setup for a fox VAN RC coil or any coil?
Thanks Doddy :)

MTBskrt I think he showed how in the ‘how to get perfect, accurate shifting’ video that was released pretty recently
jc30 oh yeah, cheers
Can you make a video about carbon repair ?
Doody, is it okay to use multipurpose silicon spray (like WD-40 silicon) for regular fork and shock legs cleaning/maintenance? Thank you for these tech vids, btw! :)

What would you be looking for if you were buying a Rover Discovery
If your bike has a matte/raw carbon finish, do you suggest polishing? If so, with what?
I'm looking for a proper manual to service my Marzocchi 350 NCR. Any hints?
Nice bike. Trade you for my GIANT SX, lol.
What is the weight limit of this bike looking to get a bike so i can start losing weight. I am currently 344.
Why did you take the pads out the front of the calliper? I have the same ones and they come out the back holding the tab so you don’t touch the pad surface, and it’s easier
i thought you will be talking about air spring tuning :D
Yeah, I hoped for that as well. 😄
So can you undo the large nut/top cap at the top of the lower post of a reverb to clean and grease the seals? I’ve always been nervous about tampering with it
Hey Doddy I have a question. Do you like your syncross mud guar? I was thiniking about ordering one for myself. Also great video as always
Need to focus in on the brands and type of grease/lubes you use as there are millions of choices online.
Never needed a compressor to seat a tyre maxxis tyres and a mavic tubeless rims no problems track pump works fine
Hi Doddy

There are like 94 cables on that bike......
Twinloc (two cables), dropper, shifting, front brake, rear brake

Wouldn't it be cool if you can clean a bad disc brake with car brake cleaner.
