Have always been bad at math, but used your videos 4 years ago to get into nursing school. Have to take another entrance exam for school again with similar math as before. Thought I had saved your videos, but didn’t, and all I could remember was it was the “Australian guy” who taught me- can’t believe I found you again! Thank you so much for making math easy for me! @@patriotjon8535 Well, for one thing just knowing you understand and can solve the fractions is a great feeling and, second, maybe you can help someone else who is struggling with fractions. For myself, I will be confident doing fractions and I will be able to help my grandson if he needs it. I've always been afraid of math because I didn't understand it and I've always thought I was inept at math, but now I know I just never had anyone who knew how to teach it so I could understand it. Have a GREAT day! :)

I'm understanding fractions better now than when I was in school.
That's not surprising. I've seen videos in which high school math teachers (have to take calculus and higher-level math to teach) have admitted that they didn't really understand fractions until they had taught for a while. These days, the standards for math educators have been raised. They actually have to understand concepts, math logic, and be able to see problems from multiple perspectives.
Simply memorizing the standard algorithm isn't good enough, anymore. I've even seen some math teachers with shirts that say, "Math is a language," which is how I personally view it. If you want to have an even better understanding of fractions, I recommend you check out Dr. James Tanton here on UA-cam. He is quite creative and visual and does things outside-of-the-box.
I love math. My husband who is more of a History buff hates math, but he loves watching your videos and gets amazed when he sees a 2 minute short cut on a problem that probably took him about 20 minutes to do. Love your videos. Keep them coming 😘

for mixed numbers I've always resolved the whole numbers first and this way I only have to convert one side of the problem to an improper fraction. so based on your first example:
2 1/4 - 1 1/3 - First I would just subtract out the whole numbers so 2 - 1 = 1
my equation now becomes 1 1/4 - 1/3 - now I convert the 1 1/4 to an improper fraction which gives me 5/4
my equation is now 5/4 - 1/3 now make them have the common denominator, so 5/4 becomes 15/12 and 1/3 becomes 4/12
my final equation becomes 15/12 - 4/12 which equals 11/12

Victor Alicea ask your recruiter if you can take the pi-cat that’s a test you can only take once but it’s Easier and if you fail that you won’t have to wait to try again they wil throw it away an tell you you can try when you like but ask your recruiter for more info on it but you got it bro no worries 🤘🏽
