I looked up the bridge in Marseille and apparently it's called "The Marselle Transporter Bridge," made in 1905 and blown up by the Germans in 1944. The tan deck piece hanging from wires is moved from one side to the other like a gondola. It was built so traffic could cross the harbor at grade without disrupting boat traffic. Neat!
At 8:34 , you pointed out you can bring your ships in there, but good players don't. In a Standard Battle, that cutout is inside one of the bases. I'll have you know that I took a Blyskawica in there once during a Standard Battle. All my team was dead, I only had less than 500 health left, and the other team had 5 or six ships left, one which was a CV. I managed to ninja the cap and win the game, while their CV was losing his mind trying to find me. It was one of my most memorable moments ever in a DD.
As someone who lives in Marseille it’s nice to see my city is in the game three times : port , map and ship . The city is very innacurately represented but it’s very cool! Also the thing that’s above the entry of the port didn’t have a road on it. Anyways , pretty cool series , big fan!
The geologist training is clearly paying off, as I believe I have learnt that a lot of the Neighbours map contains rocks, including many of the islands which are in fact made of rocks. The tour guide on this particular expedition also helped in pointing out amazing sights like a 'bus', some structures which I am reliably informed were in fact roads, as well as some fortifications which may or may not have been based on actual real life fortifications somewhere. Overall one of the most informative and insightful tours I have ever taken.
