I’m glad you’re addressing the inevitability of eventually having to double-dip on deck profiles, and I’m honestly completely all for it. Like you said, sometimes a deck sticks around for a long time and undergoes many changes in response to many different metas, and that’s worth cataloging.
Historically, probably top 3 most loved archetypes of all time. Glads introduced what is still one of the coolest mechanics ever. Love playing Hero Beat vs. Glad matchups in 2011-12 format.
I’ll definitely have to try out more shrink in my build. The neat thing about running 3 shrink and 3 book is that if you’re forced to use trap stun on your opponent’s turn in response to something like Windblast or Icarus, you can still be protected by your spells in the backrow.
What another fantastic video Joe! Have definitely been waiting for you to profile a deck more than once as we know they evolve format to format! Everytime you drop a video I know it’s going to be a good day! Appreciate all that you do for retro yugioh by far and away to me the best yugioh channel on UA-cam. I hope you continue to enjoy your series as much as we do! Would love to see more Edison as the format is gaining popularity! And of course the long awaited lightsworn 💪🏼
Amazing take on Glads. I am a huge fan of the deck in Edison format, but I was on E-con instead of shrink. I have now been converted haha. There are extremely cheeky plays with E con I love... but shrink really do go crazy lol.
Here's some random Yugioh history trivia regarding GBs in 2010: German nationals 2010 (the format after Edison, much higher power level) was won by GBs. The list played Hoplomus, 2 Samnite, 3 Proving Ground and 3 Waboku, but no Test Tiger, Secutor or Prisma. I believe Prisma wasn't legal for the event due to card availability shenanigans.
Hi Joe, hope you see this. I love GB in edison and I always have been fascinated by Hedge Guard from raging battle “During damage calculation, in either player's turn, when a monster you control attacks or is attacked: You can send this card from your hand to the Graveyard; halve the ATK of that monster you control until the end of this turn, but that monster cannot be destroyed by this battle.” I love this card in the deck but wanted to get your take on it. Obvious draw backs of being a single battle, but having a pseudo honest as it were seems really good at playing around backrow hate
Nice profile man! Did you consider main decking cards like trap stun or dust tornado? Can hop will be a main deck card due to rise in popularity of bw and hero beat? Last thing. What's the best use of secutor? I m not confident on shrink , i imagine that it always require a gb monster. Thanks and hope you can reply me :)
I think Pulling the Rug is way better than Mask of Restrict as it covers way more match-ups, more cards other than Monarchs (Diva, Stratos, Armageddon, Gadgets, Gearframe, Summoner Monk). I can be wrong but I've always prefered a removal instead of a floodgate. Keep on with the great job
Although it hits more cards - I am not sure I want to side it versus all those matchups. Don't get me wrong - it is decent versus Gadgets/Gearframe - but I think that matchup can be won with other tools (Cyber, backrow hate + GB effects). I will try it out though.
Almost every deck has a monster that gets run over by firedog(laquari/stratos/machina gearframe/blackwing shura and bora/dark grepher/lightsworn garoth and jain)
in gladiator beasts , i would choose mirror force over torrential tribute in the trap lineup . TT is almost always a neg unless you control no monsters ; which you never want in your aggro based strategy
Could you expand on why book of moon is needed for the secutor into murmillo and equeste? I (incorrectly) assumed that placing murmillo as chain link one then equeste as chain link two would work. Always love your profiles, keep up the great work.
*THE GLAD MASTER IS BACK* Btw Joe I am assuming the card "PIANISSIMO" isn't out yet? I would think that is the ultimate Glad card as it is literally a Waboku + Lance + Shrink all in one card. I love it in Glad Beasts
@@delta3244 Ah that's too bad. Well I have been messing around a lot with Glads from that era I guess because I have an old version of YGO Percy I found archived haha, and I've found that card very useful.
Mr. Giorlando, I really need to know the brand of white card sleeves in this video. The back of them seem to have a gloss finish and I miss old players choice sleeves a lot. What brand of sleeves are they?
What are your thoughts on thunder king and what is your reasoning for not maining it? Love seeing the upload notifications for your videos great content always
I think it's because searching your gladiator beasts in the end can be a bad thing. While proving ground is a Rota, so a good card in theory, you want your glads to stay in your deck, especially the ones of, and you don't want to see too many of them. Also proving ground is dead under Rai-oh, so playing 3 copies is probably too much.
In terms of historic Edison builds vs modern Edison builds, can you provide some context around Dark End Dragon? I’ve had a lot of people tell me that Dark End Dragon was widely accessible at the time and “everyone had it” but when you look at the top 16 of Edison, no one had it in their list and there were a lot of decks that were capable of making it. I also remember watching deck profiles on UA-cam at the time and don’t remember seeing it come up in profiles that often, but obviously Yugitube back then isn’t what it is today.
It was not widely accessible. They existed and you were likely able to find one if you were a member of a successful team - but unless you were willing to spend $800+ - it wasn’t WIDELY accessible.
Paul Levitin was an amazing player with a deck entirely geared towards countering DAD Return (ex. maining three copies of Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror). It was also a deck that would have taken advantage of players who did not understand how the GB mechanic worked (or in some cases, what the cards even did).
I always played 1 Spartacus and 1 Gaiodiaz, I couldn’t help myself…. I can’t count how many times the opponent had a stardust dragon out and I brought Gaiodaiz out and they said WTF is that, and smokes Stardust for game. Was it practical… no… was it fun…. Yes lol
Giant Trunade is a way better card in this deck compared to Cold Wave because let's the Gladiator Beast player set his own backrow again after the power play.
@@YGOHistory thank u for the response! i’m new to edison, but been playing modern again for about a year now. been playing glad beasts and liking it a lot. my locals for edison uses a lot of traps. you think it’s worthwhile to main 2 trap stun ?

You want to attack Stardust in defense. Otherwise, Secutor has nothing to attack :)

Always played an Airbellum. Goyo into Stardust was fun. What do you think about Airbellum for synchro plays with Cat?
Not enough of an upside with only 1 Cat and no way to search it.
I like shrink in Edison GB, it's almost a forbidden lance
Also I like to main an xsaber urbellum. On occasion it has been good to cat into samnite and xsaber and syncro into goyo guardian.
Mr. Giorlando, I really need to know the brand of white card sleeves in this video. The back of them seem to have a gloss finish and I miss old players choice sleeves a lot. What brand of sleeves are they?
Dragonshield Classic Whites. Very important - CLASSIC not matte. They are indeed the best approximation to PC Whites that are readily available.

I am not really sure what it adds to the deck while also conflicting with Chariot.
can you play shrink from hand to cause bottomless to fizzle out or dose it have to be set??
Quickplay! So yes, from hand on your turn
Quickplay! So yes, from hand on your turn
Secutor!!!! Glued to your hand.
Amazing deck and explanations but I’m really curious on why no gladiator ground I mean the deck has triple rota so why not playing 1 or 2

Weak to Stardust. I honestly considered cutting Prison too. I wanted more proactive cards (Book, Shrink, etc)
