Finally got the review of the 6000rr put together. A lot of information but in general I'm a big fan of the sled for sure. Song- SUPPORT FRAME BEATZ FRAME BEATZ / @frameotb
Keep to the right & KEEP HANDS ON BARS!! Hand signals are for newbies, if you assume nobody is behind the guy coming at you...you got one coming at you. That is all. LIVE & learn.
I bought a 2017 limited 129” this year. I’m coming off of a 2005 Yamaha Warrior and it is night and day. I have put on 1000km so far and I am really loving the sled. The oil filling is kind of weird but, really isn’t that big of a deal and has been addressed on the 2018’s. This is my first 2 stroke and I settled on the 600 cat because of the good reputation of the engine. I’m impressed so far. Only gripes are that it is a bit chilly when it’s really cold and your running on rail trails. I bought a bigger windshield and the side deflectors and it’s all good now. Also the headlight kind of sucks that you can’t adjust the high and low beams independently. But adjusting the high beam to an appropriate level should work fine for all the night riding I do anyway (its lighting the tree tops from factory). As long as it remains reliable and the motor lasts as long as they say, I have no problem with these minor issues.
Going all the way back to my 94 zr580 to all my zr600s up until my milenium edition they all pulled very hard when starting them. The batteryless efi helped in starting back then but I'm happy to see the 600 class machines still make a man of ya when pulling them over
I just bought a 2016 rr out of the creat this year and I have no complaints about it at all. I got a sweet deal and couldn’t pass it up for the first car I’ve ever owned I love it. I watched your video about 4 times before I pulled the trigger to buy it thanx for the video.
Joshua Tonn that's awesome I'm glad the video was useful for you! The 6000rr is an awesome sled it is so versatile even with the RR name. It can ride hard with the best ditch bangers and be set up soft and give great trail compliance
Same here that orange Polaris is fukn beautiful I just scooped a 2016 switchback assault 800 with 300 miles on it off my buddy for less then 4500$ hes from the city bought it to go riding once and he hit a stump and broke a arm but idc it's only got 300 miles it's still brand new
i got a '18 sidewinder and for the handguards i got rox speed fx flex tec handguards with mounts for the procross/srv chassis with hayes brake system and they're awesome. went on easily with quite a bit of adjustment and keep my hands warm all the time. rode for 4 days in northern maine and it never got over 0 degrees (fahrenheit obviously) and they kept my hands warm and I think they look pretty good too
alex gagné I really appreciate that Thanks! Trying to grow the channel as best I can, throwing a like on the videos always helps and thanks for the support!!
Just found your videos this morning and it’s great to finally have a sled vlogging channel on UA-cam! It’s funny you mention the hard pull on the cat, all the cats my family owns have a high compression and can be a bitch to pull. Keep up the videos man!
Enjoy the video's (vlog) and your experience riding the different sleds. Im an ex-Minnesotan living in Texas so your rides are my way to (virtually) sled. I enjoy seeing all the other sleds when you pull into bar/restaurant/gas station. Be safe!
Do love the channel though so nice to find somebody that isn't so brand biest when I was in high school everybody had a Polaris and if you didn't all you had was junk they kind of drove me to hate Polaris
Jeremy Sharp that's too bad. I know the feeling I had a similar situation with skidoo. Eventually I caved and rode them for 3 sleds in a row but I eventually realized they're all great in their own ways and all have negatives. Glad to hear you enjoy the content and others agree with my perspective!
Jeremy Sharp Yup! I had a F7 and my cousins had the EdgeX, all their friends had nothing but Polaris too, and they all wd talk shit...even tho I was constantly roosting them. One guy had a RXL650 and my roost shot down his intake and shut er down lol.
Nice review. I’m from Cuse also...Clay Area. I just bought a new 17 Cat ZR 6000 R XC. More than welcome to do a review / comparison between the two 600’s.
Ditch Kitty I've noticed that as well on a couple corners. I also couldn't get my reg sticker to stick to the panels to save my life. I wonder if it has to do with the type of plastic they're made of...
for the riding i see you do i think that new ski-doo mxz 600r would be good for you. i have a 2017 rush xcr 600 and i have to say the rmotion is better.
Yamaha assembles their own sleds on the line just an FYI. There's 150 (actual number) different things Yamaha does besides the engines with the cat chassis. The new panels on the 18 cats/yamis are awesome and way better! I have a 17 6000rr and have it dialed in after 650 miles. If you take the coupling blocks out, the machine is a wheelie beast and a lot more fun to ride. I also ditched the 1.25 for a back country 1.75 and its night and day when the trails are not hard packed. I can stay with my friends 850 up till 65-70 and then he gone. But I am enjoying mine very much! I hope you do as well!
Oh and I love your vids man. I always find myself charging the gopro and then saying the hell with it when its time to go lol. So thanks for taking the time to make them.
Earthretention good to know. That was kind of my plan with it keep going with the acceleration factor and make it a beast out of the hole. Good to know on the Yamaha stuff. I knew they had quite a few differences but I wasn't sure if it extended to the actual assembly of the sleds or not. Thanks a lot i appreciate it! It does make getting ready a bit of a pain and it can be hard to think of topics at times but you guys are all so awesome with the support it makes it easy to put forth the effort.
Matt No I did not have to change anything. I am however going to try a speedwerx clutch kit next season to make up for the extra lugs. But so far I’m loving it.
Awesome video again, as always! Sometimes I feel like why didn't I just buy a Cat 7000 instead, with probably better clutch setup and much better skiis :) Oh well, I like blue. Just wondering if you're allowed to go off trail over there? The trails are so perfect I would stay on them anyway haha. And do you have any mountains you visit for the view where the trails leads at or is it just flat land?
Tommie Berg nothin wrong with being a part of team blue Yamaha is an awesome brand for sure. People in general seem to go sidewinder over thundercat I've noticed so I wouldn't stress at all. Technically rising off trail is illegal in new york. There are areas you can sort of get away with breaking the rules and go off trail but in general not a ton of options.
Jeremy Sharp yeah new panels on the turbos and a couple select models on 17 and I'm pretty sure they all got them this season. My neighbors have them and they seem to be much better for sure.
Hi. How about a screen shot of a GPS track of the trails you ride for the vid? We're totally blown away by the quality of your trails. Every trail seems wide and smooth. Do you edit out the bad stuff or is it all really that good? We're in Ontario and we're always told our trails are the best but the stuff you're showing us is hella good.
mcZED38 thanks! I'll have to look into the Gps tracking not sure my camera has it but this is old forge new york. They have 24 hours grooming and we rode Sundays the last times so the trails were mint. On Friday night and Saturday they can get decently bumpy but I don't avoid them at all in editing really. The area isn't all that big so with 4 or 5 groomers running 24 hours a day they can keep up on the trails pretty well. Glad you like the content! Hoping to make it up that way sometime soon
I’ve been watching your vids for a long time now, I’ve got the same sled and it’s good but just not enough power did you do anything to it performance wise? Yes Ik they make 800s lol
No it's my back up sled so i dont worry about it too much but ive heard the clutching and gearing on the 6000r xc sleds makes them a bit more exciting and gets a little more top speed out of them. May be worth a look .
Streeters Garage yes it is. I rode some trails I don't ride all that often because conditions were so good. Normally they can be pretty beat up on a busier day
Have you ever rode a 6000 r xc or can you compare the two cause I just got into the trail riding last year and bought my first sled a 2000 zr 600 efi and fell in love with this activity so now it’s time to get an upgrade on sleds and out of the zr 6000 rr or the 6000 r xc I’d like to get it to be as close to a race sled as I can
The r xc is the way to go if you want close to a race sled. More aggressive clutching, different gearing, slightly better shocks (depending on the year), race seat (again depending on the year). If I had the choice between the r xc and rr over again I'd more likely than not go r xc
snowtime01 I use a sony AS100V action cam. I get around 3 hours of battery in the cold and bring 2 batteries with me. The mic is a Ponovo mic I just got off amazon. Only like $10
Joe neault as a matter of fact i did, the deals just weren't quite as good it would've cost me around 2k more and I wanted to bring something a littler different to the channel. Try to keep the content as interesting as possible without focusing too much on just one brand.
By the way my invitation still stands if you want to make the trip over to the U.P. of Michigan. This is the kind of riding you missed out on New Years weekend. See video: ua-cam.com/video/Uf-pJR1FWfI/v-deo.html
sheddski the front is stiff but the back is pretty soft for sure. I imagine if you cranked the torsion springs up it would stiffen the rear up pretty good. I plan to try it out and give my opinion down the road
Mike M this is old forge New York! Both Tug hill and Old forge are great. Better to hit Tug hill during the week tho as the groom less. Congrats on the new sled! Just a couple months away now!!
For the price and performance there simply isn't a better sled out there, even a top end XRS with its KYB shocks will fall short of the capabilities of the fox shocks. The RR isn't for everyone but for what I do it hasn't failed me yet
It's a sweet little package for sure. I want to crank the rear suspension up and see how it handles the moguls this season. Right now it's set super soft in the rear but i haven't really pushed the sled super hard yet so for now the softer settings have been ideal. Curious to really see what it's made of though
I run the torsion spring on full stiff and the coupling blocks on the least amount of coupling, I'm 205 pound geared up and I run the compression more towards the stiff side as well, it's harsher on the small bumps for sure, but on the real deep/chopped up trail I really haven't bottomed it out too excessively at all
great vid as always, I'm a ski doo guy but enjoy your reviews on everything. The biggest turn off for me with Cats is the fit and finish, not that ski doos don't have some faults but Cat has always looked "cheaper" to me. I thought this alliance with Yamaha would have solved that. On a side note it sure looks funny to see a key on a sled, I haven't had to deal with that since my 99. Keep the vids comin, stay safe
jarkko puhakka they have 24 hour grooming so in general the trails are pretty great. They can get beat up Saturdays by the end of the day but they're usually great again by Sunday morning.
Thats the best feeling when you see the groomer
Cold hands fast snowmobile
I'm glad that you use hand signals. The majority of riders seem to just wave when you give them the number of sleds behind you.
Sean Higgins haha yeah a lot of people have gotten away from it but I'm gonna keep doing it to at least make sure my group stays safe 👍
Keep to the right & KEEP HANDS ON BARS!! Hand signals are for newbies, if you assume nobody is behind the guy coming at you...you got one coming at you. That is all. LIVE & learn.
That’s why we use rider safety lights
I bought a 2017 limited 129” this year. I’m coming off of a 2005 Yamaha Warrior and it is night and day. I have put on 1000km so far and I am really loving the sled. Steve M I rode a bunch of 2020 Cats this spring and came away VERY impressed. Loved the ZR Limited. Awesome sled!
Going all the way back to my 94 zr580 to all my zr600s up until my milenium edition they all pulled very hard when starting them. The batteryless efi helped in starting back then but I'm happy to see the 600 class machines still make a man of ya when pulling them over

Comparing the zr to the assault is like comparing a Porsche GT3 RS to a Hyundai Genesis. Different categories but both have their spot in the market.
i got a '18 sidewinder and for the handguards i got rox speed fx flex tec handguards with mounts for the procross/srv chassis with hayes brake system and they're awesome. went on easily with quite a bit of adjustment and keep my hands warm all the time. rode for 4 days in northern maine and it never got over 0 degrees (fahrenheit obviously) and they kept my hands warm and I think they look pretty good too
I like my 6000 good on oil and great looking easy 2 pulls and starts just over heats on the trail! (Even with ice scratchers)
the pull start on new sleds do break in, so that should soften up
first notification squad. You are awesome love you revrider.
And this one has an electric starter ?
I think that the zr600 fron the 90's didn't have an electric starter
Because it was an RR (race replica) it does not. You could get it on other zr 600s though
i dont understand why you only have 1k followers caus youre videos are awesome keep up the amazing work
alex gagné I really appreciate that Thanks! Trying to grow the channel as best I can, throwing a like on the videos always helps and thanks for the support!!
ive been puting a like on every vid ive seen so far cuz i like them all!!!
alex gagné thats so awesome I really appreciate it!

A Viper review would be sweet
Amazing vid I love the vids keep them up it is the one channel I look forward to watching each day👍👍
Corban Gillen wow that's so awesome to hear thank you and will do!!
thinking about getting that sled
Enjoy the video's (vlog) and your experience riding the different sleds. Im an ex-Minnesotan living in Texas so your rides are my way to (virtually) sled. I enjoy seeing all the other sleds when you pull into bar/restaurant/gas station. Be safe!
WimberlyRd I appreciate that thanks! Glad I can still give you a glimpse into the snowmobile world 👍 enjoy Texas
the clutching was changed to team that year 2016 for a better backshift and durability
Great video and narration. I have a 2016 RR and 2020 RR. fit and finish has improved, still look great. Keep up the channel
I think the pull start is like a "you must be this tall to ride this ride" for sleds. If someone can't pull it over then it might be too much for ya

How are these off trail?
Nice review. I’m from Cuse also...Clay Area. I just bought a new 17 Cat ZR 6000 R XC. More than welcome to do a review / comparison between the two 600’s.
I have a 2018 Viper LTX LE and the fit/finish is good. The instrument cluster is solid on mine, but a few of numbers are hard to read at speed.
LITTLEROCKSHORES good to know. With the type of brand Yamaha is I figured as much.
Revrider550 great vids btw
LITTLEROCKSHORES thanks I really appreciate that!!
Wow @ whoever commented about your sled being junk. Tell 'em to have fun when their battery dies and they don't know how to pull over a sled 🤣
That’s sled is awesome
My cat dos t have electric start and I love it! Also it's an 800 so it's a pretty good tug!
Jeremy Matthews I can imagine. I assumed if the 600 took some muscle to pull over the 800 would take even more.
The trails are beautiful......nice video.
One thing I find that I don't like on my RR is the decals and stickers on the sled, after a year half the stickers are peeling off
Ditch Kitty I've noticed that as well on a couple corners. I also couldn't get my reg sticker to stick to the panels to save my life. I wonder if it has to do with the type of plastic they're made of...
Revrider550 That's part of the problem but the TEAM ARCTIC sticker on my tunnel is peeling also, I'm thinking it's the quality of the stickers
Same on my Viper R-TX, didn't even go through a season before it started on the tunnel.
Tommie Berg yeah the quality just isn't there with these cats, never had this issue with any other of my sleds
Just hope no one bought their own accessories wraps :) (could be someone else making them, idk)
for the riding i see you do i think that new ski-doo mxz 600r would be good for you. i have a 2017 rush xcr 600 and i have to say the rmotion is better.

Thanks Earthrention, I just put a speedwerx clutch kit on rr last month
Matt Johnson how do you like the clutch kit? What one did you go with? Worth it?
From a ski doo you pay for pull start lol. Love the videos. Tips up 👍
Awesome video again, as always! Sometimes I feel like why didn't I just buy a Cat 7000 instead, with probably better clutch setup and much better skiis :) Oh well, I like blue.

I believe in 2017 they fixed the body panel issue
Jeremy Sharp yeah new panels on the turbos and a couple select models on 17 and I'm pretty sure they all got them this season. My neighbors have them and they seem to be much better for sure.

Revrider550 you could try Polaris Ride Command on your phone. It sucks for trip planning but for generating a trace it's half decent.
I’ve been watching your vids for a long time now, I’ve got the same sled and it’s good but just not enough power did you do anything to it performance wise? Yes Ik they make 800s lol

Revrider550 Thank you! I will! I really appreciate the feed back and the amazing content!
This was Old Forge?
Streeters Garage yes it is. I rode some trails I don't ride all that often because conditions were so good. Normally they can be pretty beat up on a busier day
Have you ever rode a 6000 r xc or can you compare the two cause I just got into the trail riding last year and bought my first sled a 2000 zr 600 efi and fell in love with this activity so now it’s time to get an upgrade on sleds and out of the zr 6000 rr or the 6000 r xc I’d like to get it to be as close to a race sled as I can

How do you keep the GoPro warm and not have it die?
What camera and mic set up are you running. I've been using a gopro but it doesn't work at all when it's 15 degrees or less :(
snowtime01 I use a sony AS100V action cam. I get around 3 hours of battery in the cold and bring 2 batteries with me. The mic is a Ponovo mic I just got off amazon. Only like $10
Kinda bein' a lil' bitc# with yer ride. I've owned this machine, it's nice. Better than a doo.
What camera are you using? My go pro with Mic skeleton let's me film only a bit till batts freeze.
John jay drott I have a sony AS100V action camera. I get around 3 hours of film time out of a charge in cold weather
Good honest review. I bet that cat will loosen up quite a bit after 1K. Maybe do a post break in review?
is it strictly for trail or can u use it for ditch bangin
@Revrider550 What Year Is Your Snowmobile?
The arctic cat is a 2016 and the polaris is a 2017
did you consider the xcr600 before you bought this cat or ? and if so why didnt you get the polaris?
Joe neault as a matter of fact i did, the deals just weren't quite as good it would've cost me around 2k more and I wanted to bring something a littler different to the channel. Try to keep the content as interesting as possible without focusing too much on just one brand.
By the way my invitation still stands if you want to make the trip over to the U.P. of Michigan. This is the kind of riding you missed out on New Years weekend. See video: ua-cam.com/video/Uf-pJR1FWfI/v-deo.html
Time to hit that subscribe button
Bryce817 thanks for the sub!
is it stiff in anyway during stutters ? or ruttered trail junk
sheddski the front is stiff but the back is pretty soft for sure. I imagine if you cranked the torsion springs up it would stiffen the rear up pretty good. I plan to try it out and give my opinion down the road
Where do you ride I'm jealous of these trails! I just picked up a new Doo renegade and am itching for snow already!
Mike M this is old forge New York! Both Tug hill and Old forge are great. Better to hit Tug hill during the week tho as the groom less. Congrats on the new sled! Just a couple months away now!!
Revrider550 oh shit I'm only like two hours away from that, will have to take a trip this season.
I allways thought cats were fast first then fitnfinish
Good vid
Finally someone that agrees with me that appreciate the pull cord fuck the Electric start add more weight
Do u ride in old forge?
hicktownpa1233 yup pretty much exclusively planning to venture back over to Tug Hill and ride a bit more south next year snow pending.
Where do you ride?
Traven Francis old forge new york
Okay cool I live in vermont. The warm weather is killing the trails
are these trails always this good condition?
jarkko puhakka they have 24 hour grooming so in general the trails are pretty great. They can get beat up Saturdays by the end of the day but they're usually great again by Sunday morning.
