What a discovery. Yet another 'thank you' to whatever genius paired this splendid singer with the emotionally-charged Wallander. What first got me hooked on that programme was my first sight of the minimalist title sequence accompanied by an incredibly soulful singer singing an incredibly soulful song. I still watch re-runs every Saturday night on British freeview.
+JJBushfan it was the composer Martin Phipps who bought me to his studio to re-record my song, Nostalgia, so it would fit lyrically with the Swedish setting (the original song is set in Melbourne, Australia) . 😊

It's a strange experience watching Kenneth Branagh's Wallander and seeing a young Tom Hiddleston before he 'broke' into Hollywood. Actually, seeing so many English Actors and Actresses you've recognized from later projects in this series. First class adaptation and holds well against the Swedish films of Wallander. Haunting theme and matches perfectly to the series.
Like just about everyone commenting on this Wallander brought me here too! It's good to hear all of the song instead of just a few bars at the beginning and end.
Wallander also brought me here. The original is even more beautiful and about her hometown of Melbourne, Australia. Brings a tear to the eye of an expatriate Melburnian

Really love this song, but I'm obsessed with the take featured in the Wallender theme tune, where after the lyric "door that", a second voice features and both singers sing "shouldn't be" in harmony, and then emily sings "in front of me", and the vocal on that line sounds amazing. Oh whisper me words in the shape of a bay
shelter my love from the wind and the rain
Crow fly be my alibi
and return this fable on your wing
take it far away to where gypsies play
beneath metal stars by the bridge
Oh write me a beacon so I know the way
guide my love through night and through day
Only the sunset knows my blind desire for the fleeting
only the moon understands the beauty of love
