On Wednesday 21st November 2012, Emily Barker & The Red Clay Halo played a sold out show at London's Union Chapel.
"For many years it was my dream to headline the Union Chapel, so when my wish came true, we wanted to make it as special as possible. 'Nostalgia', for a lot of people, has been the doorway to discovering our music as it was used in the popular BBC1 drama series 'Wallander'. We wanted to start the set with this song so as to create an immediate connection with the crowd, but we also wanted to create a bit of anticipation and drama, so we decided to come out onto stage one at a time and play harmonics and hint at the motif rather than give it away all at once. I think everyone in the room, including us, finally breathes out when we drop into the riff and start the song. What a special evening it was!"

Love the song and it is so beautifully sang. Wallander
Beyond doubt the quietest and most patient crowd ever...paying Emily total respect.
If that is not music worth buying..what is??
I had forgotten this beautiful song, great performance to! Isn't UA-cam a whiz!
The *b e s t* version of *t h e* most beautiful song ever :o) Emily Barker = you're brilliant :o)

A song that I'll never forget, now Emily is a member of my musical family!
Love itI Wallander version, live version, all great.
This deep song was the first one I heard from Emily Barker and The Red Clay Halo and I must hear it again and again and since then I'm a fan...
like me
wow i thought her solo acoustic version was brilliant, this is beautiful all the instruments work in great harmony with both each other and her voice. espeically love the addition of the piano. makes me wish her shows were not at least 100 miles away :)
Beautiful... Just beautiful.....
this is so beautiful, liked this song since i saw it on Wallanders film in the end, but this live Version is just great love it
love it!!
wonderful. Despite the snow is a great album; but this song is better live.
Ik luister 2 minuten naar deze zangeres en ik ben meteen een fan van haar.
Hauntingly beautiful.....
Thank you :)
This is the last thing i want to hear before they nail the lid down, thank you Emily
Brilliant and enchanting as ever.
Enchanting... I love this song. Bravissima Emily.
+Massimo Nicosia thank you very much Massimo
You have come a long way since your first visit to the Chapel in 2009. As a opening act you outshone the American who 'headlined' that night. Never heard of you before but bought the CD. Good on you, keep going!
Gorgeous.
Prefer the earlier versions 👍Such a beautiful song and I love her acoustic rendition for Wallander.
Wunderbar!
desde argentina un cariño enorme y felicidades Emily !!!!!!
Love the piano work in the opening. These are the Australian lyrics. Some words were changed for the Wallander version because it is set in Sweden.
Well spotted! Yes, "tram wires across Melbourne skies" didn't quite fit with Ystad, Sweden 😂
Love the music from wallander
Another wonderful rendition of the song to add to my prized collection of EB videos.
❤💔
geweldig
Tram wires cross Melbourne skies
Cut my red heart in two
My knuckles bleed down Johnston street
On a door that shouldn't be in front of me
Twelve thousand miles away from your smile
I'm twelve thousand miles away from me
Standing on the corner of Brunswick
Got the rain coming down and mascara on my cheek
Oh whisper me words in the shape of a bay
Shelter my love from the wind and the rain
Crow fly be my alibi
And return this fable on your wing
Take it far away to where gypsies play
Beneath metal stars by the bridge
Oh write me a beacon so I know the way
Guide my love through night and through day
Only the sunset knows my blind desire for the fleeting
Only the moon understands the beauty of love
When held by a hand like the aura of nostalgia.
Shelter my love from the wind and the waves. 👍
Magical intro!
We enjoyed the drama of it :)
I would like to post a clever piece of words matching the beauty of this song... I am just speechless like an imbecile! I cannot possibly leave a doubt in Emily's mind that I do not vibrate when I here those words on this tune... Just speechless like a very happy imbecile!...
Thank you for these heartfelt, beautiful words Benoit!
Wallander brought me here.
Welcome :)
thank you for the tutorial…i come back to it now and then..somehow never getting the fingerpicking as you teach it, but i love the tune, and i love playing it…it pulled at me from the moment i heard it on Wallander...
+ENevada thank you! Glad the tutorial has been helpful
Brava!
Years on now and this must be the best version of this great song ever. I've heard you live on this but somehow this takes the biscuit. Knuckles bleeding from doors.. etc - is that tin pan alley Melbourne?
My memory is going. That was September 2007 not 2009. How time flies.
je suis francais je la decouvre depuis 1 mois jai le coup de foudre
