Tank WILL NOT be “fixed” until counterswapping is fixed and this patch did nothing for that
They should make it to where people are limited to 2 picks they can swap between *in comp*.
@@Slayidengarbage idea, one of the worst I’ve ever heard. The person who swaps first will always be at a disadvantage because they will be through their swaps before the other person is. Then you’ll just have a literal permanent disadvantage for the rest of the game.
6v6 had counter swapping, and it wasn't an issue the problem is the format
So what are you gonna do when you pick the worse tank and cant swap?
Counter swapping will always be a perpetual issue as long as there is only one tank per team. No balance change can fix it and it will only get worse the more tanks get added.
“The kiri did understand the assignment” idk why I find that so funny lol
Win one team fight and already at enemy spawn? Welcome to Colosseo
can’t believe how understated it is how bad that map sucks.
really glad we’re getting a lot of map reworks soon. it’s surprising how much it helps keep the game fresh. even the little things.
@@Libreomit's actually insane that some of the most egregious maps in the game that have been in since the beginning haven't been looked at ONCE since release until now
@@lostmycat5671Yea, I hate the first point at Numbani. It’s to hard to capture. I always felt the defensive team has advantage… there are so many highgrounds for them in perfect spots
it's changed... for the worse. now instead of targets like tracer and reaper and hog being issues (heroes that tanks can often get close to, and want to be close anyway), you've got targets like junkrat and pharah and widow (heroes that tanks have trouble fighting already). It feels like you melt so much faster to so many more heroes.
Bc u are taking more dmg from non pellet heroes than b4 the Armor changes
@@Alex_Aramayo well... yea, that's the point, and that's the problem. most of the high burst heroes (aka 'non pellet' heroes) are long range, like junkrat, pharah, widow, ashe etc. because you're rewarded for being accurate, as opposed to rapid fire which is almost exclusively close range (we don't talk about orisa). Since most tanks are built to handle close quarters combat, they struggle with long range heroes, and now they struggle even more because of the armour change.
Dude hog is still a problem infact hes even MORE of a problem because he will still melt tanks especially with his ult now melting you even more with less knockback. Last time they reduced knockback on hogs ult they lessened the damage (or widened the spread) one if the two to try to balance it but now....nope he just hooks, pig pens, shoots, forces you to back out or heals. Then after enough time he gets his ult, hooks you in, and deletes you.
And now his matchup against most tanks are now actually better due to most tanks having a rapid fire kind of weapon so he just duals nearly every tank in the game rn.
I'm also noticing that I somehow have to turtle even harder as Rein. I'm essentially just a mobile shield for my team at this point. If I don't get insta-nuked diving in, its either gonna yield in a pin, or a canceled charge to b-hop backwards w shield.
I had a game where I had 2.4 k mitigation in the first minute and 15 secs. Rein only has 1200 shield hp... Istg they need to up his shield to 2 k hp.
@@jackk.4670 making half his hp armor would get us in the right direction.
Zarya and JQ feel better to play for sure, because they have smaller hitboxes, the armor change didn't affect them, and they got a headshot damage reduction. Not to mention just the straight QoL buffs they got to their respective kits. Otherwise, still too early to tell with most of the other tanks I feel.
this patch has some downsides for zarya, because of the knockback reduction for tanks across the board her ability to grenade jump got nerfed
@@miscinsanity oh damn I didn't realize. That's some huge Zarya tech that suffers then
flats: op passive kicking in!
zen: am i joke to you?
To be fair Rein heals more of passive than Zen orb
this was exactly how I expected it would be. You explode slightly less or the same depending on who they play. However most of that is because of headshot reduction. Realistically they need to give tanks special armor that works the opposite to this armor does where burst damage is bad but sustained damage is good. Like every bullet decreases the damage reduction from 50% to 0 or something like that, tweak the numbers a little.
Mauga’s weakness is that he’s so gigantic that if you stop healing him for a single millisecond he just falls over and dies. You have to just pump him with heals so if a tracer goes into your backline and kills the supports, mauga instantly explodes
Yup. That’s the problem with maugas design. If they buff him to survive without being actually BABYSAT by BOTH supports then it’s instant mauga meta and he just can tank a whole team of focus fire, but if they nerf him just a smidge, borderline unplayable or mid
Rein has a healthbar? 😮 This is first I’m hearing about, usually you spontaneously explode after a grain of sand touches you.
I think Reinhardt should have a minimum of 725hp for starters
1:55 - 2:00 is literally the tank experience
Wdym? he was straight up inting and got punished for it
@@janbo1751don't think flats viewers are gonna acknowledge willingly or not that he played bad.
something I've noticed: when you play support, youre pretty much always gonna get the endorsement. ive had games where i do awful and my team still endorses. meanwhile, i que tank and fight for my absolute life to carry this team. but not a single endorsement :(
Truth, tank is thankless job
I mean at this point we are just part of the scenery in most games so it makes sense lol
People still haven't gotten over the support victim mentality from a year and a half ago, it really does show in the endorsements of support for simply existing.
@@KO-2201bap being able to solo almost everything that isn’t a tank. A Zen being uncontestable without a dive taking themselves out of the team fight to get him, a good kiri being able to 1v1 non tanks with immortality and a teleport if you’re losing. MOIRA. BRIG RALLY. ILLARI. Like the only victims here are 0 deaths free escapes LW, Mercy struggling with the dps passive, and Lucio trying to dps but actually feeding for the entire match
Counterswitching is still a problem. So its still isnt fixed
This patch finally made me quit playing tank. In some cases I feel more explody. And in others it feels the same. Buffing the DPS passive back to 20% just makes things miserable
Edit: since this comment has gotten more interactions than anticipated, I want to clarify a few of my thoughts on the matter and some context. I am a plat 4 tank currently and peaked diamond 5 in season 8 (I did not play mauga that much, but some sr is from that). I main Reinhardt and Winston primarily, and am decent at all the other tanks excluding Doomfist & Ball. The reason I dislike this patch is that it made heroes that take some high execution harder to play, such as tracer, genji, and torbjorn to a lesser extent. While increasing the value the already meta heroes had. Widow, soujorn, and Cassidy are much less impacted by the armor change, and actually benefit. The headshot damage reduction is nice and all, but only reducing a flat amount of damage coming in means that things like soujorn rail, Cassidy right clicks, helix rockets, and widow shots are doing MORE damage than they used to. Rein has near zero counter play against those heroes, even less on maps like Havana, Circuit Royale, and Colleseo. That is my issue with the change more or less.
Should be split and stackable, maybe a little smaller.
You are correct I've blown up instantly as sig in a few games is terrible
I (a Doom main) hate how good brig has become with this change. i just do 50% less damage against her she gains 15 health per sec * 2 bc of armor so i cant kill her
L take, tank needed an indirect nerf. I'm okay with the knock back reduction but the armor change needed to happen. If the tank was being supported, you couldn't kill them
Ok i knew i wasnt going crazy, i thought it was a buff so i played 3 ranked games with jq and blew up instantly in all 3 no matter what i did
That Ram spot sounds fun to use. I'm yoinking that
2:38 flats reaction times on counter chargers are crazy
he heard him coming a couple of seconds ago, he just had to turn and hit charge. Still really good but not a reaction time thing
You mean...its weird...that a Rein connoisseur knows...how to play Rein. Weird take, but okay, I think I'm with you.
@@nuclearsimian3281 I don't think it's weird. I'm just impressed.
Some salty fellas. I don’t like flats too much, but that was sick
I'm just gonna say that rein feels worse imo.
Tank can still feel like a giant target for anti, sleep, hack, discord. But I did feel like I survived longer at least
This patch i played only 5 or 6 games and rein felt so much worse u have to not only deal with mauga but ram got a buff the tracer dmg nerf on rein barley has a impact
Other then rein seems okay
4:30 He did his chores LMAOO
Its okay.. we will be "so back" next patch
We’ll be “so back” in season 12 when space ranger launches
2:46 BIG SLAM!!!
BIG SLAM!
We have been conditioned by Emongg
BIG SLAM!!!!
Flats flaming that iPad kid made my day
Maybe a hot take.
Tank still suffers the same even after the change, thus i think they should have a 'last stand passive' where they get damage reduction(50%?) when under a certain threshold of health(20%? 10%?). Helps them live a bit longer when it matters.
Note idk the exact values nor way to test this out myself other than making it in workshop and community test ot( that may be a good idea). Just a thought
why? why giving passives to roles instead of fixing individual tank problems? give that passive to every tank and now Orisa will be even more immortal, she should not have something like that. Same goes to the other roles, i just think the "Role passive" itself is a bad ideia.
3:55 i heard tank kb nerfs mean zarya can't grenade boop herself as high anymore lol
0:10 man that shield really snapped like a toothpick
4:27 nah this part is so good omg
In the games I’ve played since the patch, you die slightly slower with the 25% headshot damage reduction, but overall it feels about the same especially if you’re playing a tank with armor. I’ve noticed tanks without armor like Roadhog, Junker Queen, Sigma, and Zarya are much better since armor is borderline useless now.
Sigma has armor
@@rohitashchan59yearsago47 No, he has shield, like Zarya or Zen
As as sig i you melt bc he's a lot worse overall now quth the whole armor bs@@rohitashchan59yearsago47
Queen actually might be crazy it's like you doing nothing to her as dva
@@YasdanyR ok didn't know that
3:53 That change to the Tank passive, effects zarya right_click-hops
That was one of the most satisfying shatters I have ever seen
I love the music that Flats uses in his videos. Especially when it’s Mario Sunshine music cause that way my childhood back in like 2009
the armor damage only really effects rapid fire and shotgun shots, so it makes enemies like reaper, sombra, tracer, etc worse against tanks, but high damage heros get mega buffed as the previous 30% damage penalty is now only -5 damage
sigma also got mega buffed for his ult not requiring any sort of line of sight, so he can grab people from another dimension, indoors, or across 10 walls
I hate the armor revert honestly, 30% armor was great for everything it feels like it only ever helps against tracer and nothing else now most everything that was gonna be threatening to me is now just even more threatening
I stopped playing tank for a bit because of how miserable it became. Came back to test the new update....still miserable.
Alright, the rein play was godly
1:56 that ana is every teammate i get just straight running away for nothing
Flats have you seen the tracer headshotting mauga through window clip?
It’s almost like the role will never work in 5v5
I think armor should be able to reduce damage between both types of pellets so since originally it was really strong against normal shots like soldier or something now he just mows through u faster
I pretty much play only Ana and when shooting tanks with armor or just anything with armor the shots feel like they hit so much harder then before they need to tweak something with tanks for this change to work imo
Ball might honestly be worse than he was last patch due to roadhog.
Sombra is back at the top, brig got buffed to enable double stun whicj she already made getting kills with ball way harder, Mauga is back to being pretty good who just beams ball down and charges his team if he goes in, Lucio is pretty good (which doesnt sound bad but boop basically forces ball to disengage), kiriko and bap are still good (both can just leave the fight or have the sustain to stall until help comes), mcree is better due to armor changes, ball got some good buffs yeah but none of his flaws are fixed and now he just feels worse. Is this a skill issue or am I not the only one?
Don't forget he gets fucked over by armor changes
To be fair with the changes to armor poke just eats armor now and given they had a sig and two hitscans might as well have not had any armor
try out the pinball minefield next
It's weird because it's a straight up buff to non armoured tanks and a tradeoff to armoured tanks
Honestly what mid season did for tank is put unarmored tanks almost on the same viability as armored tanks.
The Cass duel had me dying
ive been seein a ton more rein and hog which is awesome cuz they're my two main tanks
The big question is when do we get the 10 avoid slots?
This patch is soo terrifying for tanks everyone expects you to do everything when I have two dps that can’t shoot down support
I’m practicing rein and I cannot get better at him I feel like I have my shield up for half the match and just rely on my dps. Any tips? Plat tank diamond dps
Ain’t no way you made it to plat just holding shield meanwhile I’m struggling in silver cause no one can hit a shot and you just get CCD cause you’re big. Yes it’s a skill issue but also what do you do, cause if you go aggressive you explode, good luck getting the team to STAY WITH YOU, my support is dpsing the dps, my dps can’t hit shit, so I’m just hiding behind cover, poking until death
Enemy rein: greetings
Flats: sorry buddy need my potg
When you get the 4k and only the mercy is left saying “hello”
I appreciate the Mario sunshine music a lot lol
I must say the new healing definitely shows
honestly, being a tank with shields for hp (sigma/zarya) when the shield and new healing passive kick in it feels like crack
What I got from this patch is:
Reaper is unbelievably bad.
Tanks feel way better until the other team instantly swaps in order to insta-annihilate you. Point being, the core issues remain more or less the same and tanks are just far too important to be fun. No one wants to deal with the fucking responsibility.
At the end of the day, 5x5 is quite obviously the issue.
And, as a side note, I actually want 2PC back in quick-play. Two years went by and I still hate the new modes.
Sure, take them out of comp. But why the fuck leave them out of QP as well?
havent played tank yet this patch but I could've told anyone that it was never projected as a huge channge in any way, its meant to be marginal and overall not majorly affect the state of the game.
there is still only 1 tank, nothing will save you from being shot at by the entire enemy team besides abilities with resistance (Breather/Block).
characters like Ashe, Widow, and Soj to an extent pretty much remain in the same positions they've been in.
that being said, i think the only good buff Rein could ever have is a +5% movement speed increase while moving forward as he swings his hammer, or for a small amount of time after using his charge like a pseudo-shout.
if i play too passive as rein, nothing happens. Team wont go past choke with me. So its a fine line between aggro and feeding lol
what if to fix counterswapping, blizzard makes it so that you cant switch off the character you picked until 2 minutes later , so that people are instantly switching once they see a certain character
Is that... Super Mario Sunshine music?
2:46 jesus christ, if only emongg was there to witness it
Hinder, Hack, Suzu, and Now Sojourn Railgun being unaffected by armor, widow headshot is more effective against tanks because armor, Orisa, storm arrow, still being solo tank meaning you are forced to bare all damage alone.
I do see a difference when I played tank, even though Im usually playing QP, and it’s not a good difference. I feel like I don’t heal at all even with two supports healbotting me, I just melt, no matter the tank. Even Roadhog and Mauga I seem to just go from full to nothing whenever I’m poking my head out.
Tank feels weird my take on it is you can make a play first now ever once and while but tank still feels weak
What is this comment? Clarify please?
'Empowering tanks in Mid season' Blizzard Entertainment.
Just like PvE, this was a lie.
It didn't fix anything. Now you take more damage from dps like soldier/soujurn. It was decent with the armour at 30% dmg reduction, but 5 damage per shot is ridiculously low.
I dont have the tank changes but i hate the boop resistance buff because im a lucio main
Bro pushed a whole team and said where did my health bar go lmao
My games have definitely felt better and honestly I've been enjoying this patch. Thank god they didn't touch the horse.
It's always situational, in my games everyone switches immediately after a good play, and even if I play really safe I continue to explode... Unfortunately is a 5 v 5 format problem
Honestly, from a support's perspective, it feels like nothings changed. My tank either goes full server admin or blows up the moment I look away.
Kind of disappointed to be honest, I thought the changes would be more dramatic.
Playing as tank, it still feels the same. Rein's a bit better against other tanks but that's about it.
I know that Junkrat has been shredding Rein lately, and I don't think I should be killing one all by myself... 😅😂
I have enjoyed tank more since this patch
tank still feel bad and the format is to blame tbh
I can't f believe that rein isn't buffed yet
5k views in an hour? Bro's a rising star of the youtube algorithim
It feels better but some characters need less damage and some still need more health so healers dont have to babysit the tank all game
The idea of the armor change is good but needs tweaking, maybe like -25 dmg instead of -5 Because now you still explode but against different heroes.
Apparently this patch doesn’t look like it worked at all. But let’s wait and see.
Can someone revive Reaper ?
Mario sunshine music
9:10 what the fuck happened to that Road hog??? x-x
Now that flats brought it up, anyone else having terrible lag/crashes since s10?
If your DPS are better than their DPS, playing tank is fun because you can just walk forwards under no pressure while their tank is getting blown up
im confused what were the tank buffs exactly? from what it sounds like its literally impossible for it to be a tank nerf from what ive heard of the changes. Why is flats saying it is for some heroes?
Because characters like orisa or mauga most of the time shots directly on enemy tank face
Are we back to a specific role playing dead by daylight against DPS?
In middle ranked games the healing buff actually has a maasive impact. Ive noticed that the healers have to do less and that frees them up to hard pocket the tank or one of the DPS or go full dps mode without the heals dropping below whats needed much.
That makes ana really good again as the anti turns every fight and it means killing anything is a slog as the healers can focus 100% on whatever is taking damage without disadvantaging the team as whoever is in cover will heal up on their own anyway.
I guess it’s cause I’m unranked / medal ranks this my first season playing OW since like ow1
Only time I struggle is that damn discord orb
But for the most part ram rein , I’ve been rolling teams
honestly 20% healing reduction was a mistake
Does anyone know if flats still does bronze roasting? I have one hell of a match if so
the knockback change feels like it did nothing as well, tank still just feels like a punching bag
As a road hog one trick/top500 this is a W patch
I’ve won all my Rein games so far. But Mauga requires full team coordination, so Mauga is the new Orisa.
I think the general buff to tanks was a necessary change. Just seeing how quickly tanks are still deleted with the buff, taking full headshot damage was just unnecessary
JQ feels soooo good to play
2:52, 4:16, 7:20
as a low rank player this patch feels great
I honestly dont think its an argument tank just feels worse on this patch unless ur playing one of the tanka they decided to giga buff and eveb then u still explode in a nano second and cant get healed enough to stay in fights duebto the passive
yea, feels the same as before the patch, play meta against your will or get counter swapped out of the game. We love 5:1 counterwatch
Honestly I exploded yesterday with queen ngl man
you dont die as fast but i dont think you can fix the fact that everything will be thrown onto you once they feel like going zen ana sombra cass. they do it almost every game. feels like shit to play to me at least cuz im a doom main. maybe that would be why idk tho
SLEEPER BUILD, THE GIGA CHAD, THE REINHARDT🦍💪🗿
All this patch did was make tanks worse in lower ranks where people don't headshot as much. Now you can just blast to the body and ignore the head on tanks.
Still 75% more dmg per shot.
Just realised mfs like hog are probably a fair bit weaker against other tanks now? With a decent loss on headshot damage and thats like all his damage
