Im really happy hearing of Jayne again. He was the Reason i started actually climbing in ranked back in ow 1. Made me go from Bronze to Diamond.
How long did it get you? For example I started in feb this year and only climbed from gold 4 to gold 1-2, granted I only started playing comp at the end of s9. Can I climb to masters this year if I put enough time?
@@anthonyfarias5076 I also did the bronze 5 to diamond 1 climb, it took years. If I had known what to do, it could have been much faster. 30% having a good setup, 20% just getting to know the game(characters, maps, counters), 20% positioning and aim, 20% coordination and communication, and 10% mental and toxicity. The last one is the hardest for most OW players. Win or lose, have a good attitude and don't flame, it isn't useful. If you have the mental stamina to make calls in VC and the flexibility to play different heroes at a high level, communication and versatility will make you climb the fastest

@@furioussherman7265 Mental health issues from what I understand. There was a point where he just kind of wandered off and his friends and family apparently had no idea where he was. Ended up finding him but scared some people real bad. From the sound of it, Jayne's doing a lot better these days.
As a (not toxic) Playstation player there's almost toxicity in every game I've ever played. One time me and a friend had an Ana who was talking about how "Women shouldn't play Overwatch" and other sexist things I won't get into. Dude was probably mid 20s like it was crazy
I play in EU servers and it's a struggle bc it's the same toxicity, just in a languag you don't understand :,)

My theory is that the latter years of OW1 really corrupted the community since the small playerbase who really loved or was addicted to the game was being starved for content, so they became more unhinged (like being more toxic, saying slurs, making smurfs and/or hard throwing games). Those players transitioned into OW2 and shifted the toxicity culture, so new players think that type of attitude towards their teammates and the game as a whole is acceptable.
Why are the most toxic games on patch drops and season changes? Patch hoppers are far far worse than mainstay and long-time players and it's not even close.

Yep. Let a fan favorite game rot and die over the course of 3 years will do that to an invested playerbase. Drip feed them juuuust enough to not drive them away, but nothing more. Essentially like feeding slaves so they dont die off, but you still treat them like garbage overall. That's what Blizzard did to the invested OW community for years and what we see today is simply a fundamental outcome of that Blizz mismanagement of astronomical proportions.
Patch timings means an influx of players and that means toxicity spikes because new/returning players have the daunting task of learning through a month or more of rust. Which means lots of swears. I don't have to bet money on whether the internal stats prove it. It's been tested in other (larger) competitive games and humans are the common denominator between all of them. Humans swarm patch and season changes. It's the only reason "seasons" exist.

@Lanewreck Hopefully the nee tank changes will make Rein mote viable. Almost every change benefits him the most, Lotta armor so them pesky tracers and reapers won't hurt as much, can't headshot anyways so the headshot reduction don't matter, big shield to maybe sometimes get you that improved healing. It might be great
as a ps4/5 player who has played since ow1, the ps community really has gotten worse. i remember i'd hardly get any toxicity in my ow1 games and now in ow2 it's practically everywhere and i'd have to be lucky enough for someone not to say something common like "tank diff" or "dps diff". these types of awful players are why i cant enjoy the game as much as i used to and it bums me out
This is definitely just your experience being one of the minority, with respect. I remember playing OW on release, and from that moment till now, it’s had its share of toxicity. The game has had an influx of toxicity, yea, but people seem to forget that a large part of this seeming to blow up is actually just the tolerance for it is going down. That’s why when he referenced old console, I so heavily disagree because literally nothing compares to the toxicity of OldGen video games.
In the toxicity between console and pc, they all play the same notes just on different instruments thinking one sounds better

I'm the same way. I play my best when either absolutely wrecked or when completely sober and just not paying attention. But it's hard to play after a few hours because it gets boring, then the boredom turns into "what do I play" "oh well I'll just keep going," which just turns into me sucking because I'm giving the game more focus than I need.

Do all OW UA-camrs have the same thumbnail of their main and then some in-game chat?
I feel like because PC players are more casually online (and possibly more *fully* online, as opposed to just social media on your phone) they are more inclined to be expossed to people outside their social circles. Console players usually hang out in their IRL circles and don't branch out much and so the bigotry is (maybe) more insular and deeply rooted, hence why we see so much more from those player demographics.

Man, I want to say that Jayne was how I found Flats. IIRC Jayne had brought Flats on for coaching or commentary on a tanking vid (think it was for a Rein player).
@13:18 instead of rotating back into the health room it's actually better to stand still and block the nano ram from entering and just put your full trust in your supports to keep you up through it until you get ult and then knock him down. This way your supports take no damage and the nano ram gets no value.

4:03 i think after years of blizzard making the community unhappy people have been in a permanent state of toxicity. I dont think we can look at blizzard and say, "hey, theyre doing a good job RIGHT NOW" because of their long track record of fucking up when it comes to overwatch. Blizzard did this to themseleves. This community toxicity is just a result of their actions.
In addition, they still don’t allow you to fully endorse every teammate and taking away an endorsement to incentivize less positivity. End cards prevented toxic people from getting away and forced them to stay or leave and in addition end cards at least gave positivity in telling others how well they did. Oh and lets not forget forcing ALL tank mains to be alone and have no reassurance, pressure diverter, and forced to take the toxicity alone.
actually true. It's compound effect of reaping what Blizz themselves have sown for years. Not all repercussions are felt immediately, some cement themselves over time and take an equal amount of effort to bring back goodwill, as the effort that was put into throwing the initial good faith of the playerbase under the bus for literally no reason other than greed and/or incompetence.
The problem I see with that is a lot of the original people who worked with blizzard during overwatch 1 like Jeff Kaplan have quit and a lot of the new developers have to deal with a toxic group of people who talk shit to them about stuff that they didn't. It's like trying to kill a child for something their parents did. It isn't right

I've been consistaly bullied in this game and I just switched from PS% to PC and at this point I'm thinking of just deleting the game as it's getting way too much. Going from a payed triple a game to a monetize free to play is essential going from twitch follower/sub chat to complete anonymous open chat, going to gather all the scum and kids just going crazy cause there isn't a mod to kick them out. Sure there are still guidelines but when the punishment is a 5 minute ban trolls have all the time in day
This game feels the best when rein is meta. I’ll go out of my way to force rein just because I hate the way the other tanks make the game play till I get counter swapped by the entire team.

I feel like I don't really see things that bad very often on PC EU... like obviously there's people arguing and saying tame stuff like you said, but very little really hard toxicity. People don't even spawn camp or teabag really that much.
