- Fencing Maestro Charles Selberg answers the following question from a fencer, Phillip,"Can you talk about the different type of feints, when to use them and how they affect your opponent's psychology and nervous system. Could you also say something about the difference between feints and preparation?"

When Maestro Selberg passed away, we lost a great teacher. His UA-cam videos are worth visiting often.
What a kind man with a profound understanding of fencing
I love this man, he's good and I learned a lot thanks to him. Thank you master Selberg.
applying this advice to martial arts is priceless... thanks sir
This is the best lesson I have learned on youtube ...
I'll give it a try on my next training.
MANY TNX
Fascinating stuff
1 idea I had while watching it is that relaxed players that aren't threatened by faints could be punished by with a "false faint", by pretending to faint and then continuing
Thank you... Very helpful... You are the best...
These videos are amazing. Keep them coming, please. Many thanks.
Great talk on preparation.
Great advice, thank you.
Thanks Charles!
Awesome video.
Situation
You make a short lunge with point threatening target area at about 80% of your full extension. You've now closed in past your opponents reaction distance. If they haven't made their parry by this point then finishing the lunge or extending and going in to a fleche will nail them. Posing a threat to your opponent isn't the same as a feint. The feint is what you do IF they react. So I'd argue that you can still use a feint against a seasoned fencer with a proper initial threat. Thoughts?
Wow this guy is amazing!
