Kemper saw the ToneX and said, “we can do a pedal amp too”. And then ToneX was like, “hold my beer” 😂😂😂
Two or three of these pedals still doesn't come close to = the Kemper PLAYER. ..and that's before a single update to the PLAYER....don't drink that beer to quickly.
Guitarists will very quickly get bored of having only two tones at their feet with one footswitch.
but tonex is cheaper @@guitartoneSA
very true
This is revolutionary! A stereo version of the midi/screen version a year from now would be EPIC!
Revolutionary?
As long as I can have two different amps for L and R
I’ve had a pod go since Jan 2021, it was my first and only modeling unit. I’ve been adding analog pedals around it for 3 years now. Since then every 6 months some amp modeling product has released that I wanted to upgrade to, and in my head Mel Gibson has been screaming “hooold….HOOOLD”. This is it, time to charge ⚔️
Tonex just put PRESSURE on line 6😭 Love it though! I’ll definitely switch to two of these ASAP!🔥❤️
Line 6 just released the POD express a month ago, for the same price, while offering more flexibility
Great video! I love the sounds you all were getting out of that beautiful tiny pedal!
Safe mode, GENIUS. For under board!
No doubt!
What the heck this is crazy, next they will remove the stomp box all together and the cable will be an amp
Perfect, I need two of those cable amps. Great idea…haha
Don't give them ideas
Tiny powerhouse. Well done ToneX
Keep in mind, if you run it into the effects loop of something like the HX Effects, you can flip the phase on one side in the FX Loop block.
Def grabbing one as soon as I can. That thing looks sweet!
The coolest thing is, if you’re jamming with someone who has a cool amp or pedal you can grab a capture of it, now you have an example of it.
Great info as usual you guys rock!
If you could do midi via the usb, it would be the ultimate to have the 20 amp models and your switching device pick your model of those making stereo rigs killer for an unbelievable price. Also taking up so little space on your board. Winner!!!
I have been using the original Tonex since it was released. I gig 2 to 3 times a week and I have found myself only using two tone models in conjunction with analog stomp boxes. This is the perfect unit.
Refreshing to know. I’m going amp less tonight and kinda nervous about it lol😂
@@shanemichaels8289 it may take a bit to dial it in but once you do , it is awesome
does it handle well distortion/od boxes in front?
@@PaoloC. it handles overdrive pedals better than any other digital units on the market. I honestly send that is the best way to use the tone x. I use two overdrives and one fuzz pedal before it in my pedal board chain.
@@joelortiz2281 thanks good to know, because I'm thinking to swap my iridium. and what capture are you using for clean pedal platform?
11:12 Hark the herald riff never gets old
y'all had me with the Farro guitar at the beginning - that thing is straight 🔥
That mjt tele sounds BEAUTIFUL
This will be one of the greatest guitar pedals of the decade!!
Thanks for the input trim call-out!
Took the pedal from Yikes 😬to F-Yeah 🤘
This is literally everythjing I wanted 4 years ago + the Copper. Buying a pair the moment I can.
Im definitely inpressed with the latest gen of sub 200 dollar micro modelers
Pretty rad! I'm going to use it in the FX loop of my HX stomp before my delay and verb
Whoa! Just preordered mine on Sweetwater. 😁
That’s remarkable !!!
You guys sound great. IK Multimedia got this to market just in time, right before the NAM player pedals flood the market.
I mean… gotta get two of these at some point. How… have we come to this yall? 😅 they still sell strymon Iridium’s for 400€/$… this is just unbeatable it seems like. Fantastic.
Wow so amazing, it'd so cool if they made it a bit bigger, stereo and with a screen. Totally game changer.
We are living in the future.
I'm getting crustier as I approach 40, so yeah, it must be the future.
@@Wells306 40?, just a youngster
Brian and Bradford,
Great video as always! I’ve been looking for something that would function as an IR Loder on my board in order to run acoustic IRs for Sunday mornings. Could this run in A/B mode with one side running an amp, and another side running the IR?
Blessings!
Yes, my question as well, do we have e the option of just an ir cab?
Just get a TC IR Loader for cheaper.
This vid was so great! Appreciate you two!!
don't know if I missed something but does a clean amp capture handle well a distortion box in front of the tonex?
It sounds great🎉🎉🎉I love mine 0:02
can this load stereo IRs like the Iridium? Or have the option of doing one cab left and another one right
So you plug the out line direct into the p.a. board/mixer ?
I captured the sounds of the line 6 podxt with the Tonex and run it in the loop is my Fender Tone Master Pro.
Been shopping for an amp cab sim for a little while including ToneX, Walrus ACS1, and UA (Ruby + Dream) to run in stereo. So glad I waited. This is perfect for me. Price is right, it's a space saver, I can buy two of them, and have money left over to possibly get a stereo blender like the GFI Duophony.
So would you recommend this as a good plug and play option? Meaning that besides having to load a capture and adjusting the input trim/eq, you wouldn’t have to constantly play with settings to make it sound good. I currently own a ToneX pedal but I’m not really satisfied with how it sounds. I’m a proud user of WT tone models and captures and love how they sound on the line 6 stuff, but I never could get my ToneX pedal to sound great like everyone hyped it up to be. Personally, I’m not a fan of scrolling through menus for hours so I never really bonded with my ToneX. I was considering selling it but I’d hate to lose a potentially great piece of gear just because of user error and the lack of time to sit down with it to finally find the right settings to adjust. I love the idea of the ToneX one (for my mini board project to use on Wednesday youth services) and it seems to not have as many settings as its big brother, I’m just not sure about it due to my experience with ToneX so far.
First suggestion would be to check your input trim settings. Bring it to zero to start and check from there.

Thank you very much for this video! I am thinking about buying this for my semi acoustic bass to imitate upright bass tone as much as possible, utilizing 3rd party ir from double bass, and reverb & eq. I was wondering if I could blend dry signal through Tonex one for more natural sound. Is it possible with tonex one software?
You guy's always do great videos on stuff. This is, well, like you said, revolutionary! lol, Now my question is how would it sound with an FRFR cab? As for stereo IMO, most people run mono in a 'live' situation but at this price point & functionality, getting 2 for a stereo rig is plenty doable.
Does this have Acoustic guitar amp capture? Thanks
can it be use in a pc rig? use bias fx for example, but using tonex in the rig, and hear it at studio monitors?cIm only a bedroom guitarist, but i like sound good hahahah
Is there a lot of background noise when using the pedal alone with headphones?
The larger version is unfortunately very loud with humming and noise. Just like many similar products that do not have their own grounding like the kemper player. I am still looking for a quiet product for playing only with headphones 😉
Waiting for the Tonex Two (stereo) 😬 no need for diso, etc.. and if it had midi & fx .. would be all I ever need.
Great video guys! Is it possible to copy the same ampsettings/captures multiple times in the software?
So that you can, for example, arrange a group of amps one after the other in browse mode, which then simply repeats itself? Then the navigation and orientation in browse mode might be easier and you could easily store 4 or 5 captures without being lost...
For example 4 amps/captures as a group copied 5 times in a row on 20 banks. (ABCD / ABCD / ABCD / ABCD / ABCD ) .
Is this possible with the pedal? I'm super new to amp modeling but this pedal could be my start ;-).
Best
My friend, wanted to chime in about midi on amps. I do not use midi on amps but to control my HX Stomp. It may change a patch with midi. It may change a snapshot that controls the amp. Im not doing anything crazy, I may make a gain or volume change with a snapshot. I may also tweak an EQ on an amp if I do not have an EQ block.
Where is the best place on your (PedelBoard) to place the new Tonex one pedal?
Does this have the 5 reverb types like the full size tonex?
a) Get two. b) Dual Lock them on top of a DISO+. c) Wire them up. d) Dual amplifier bliss! 😍
"Midi on amps is weird" 😂
For real tho... This is cheaper than a NUX Amp Academy.
How do you rate this vs the Amp Academy?
Since this doesn't have stereo outs, would i be able to put this after drives and before any wet stereo effects to make it sound good? Or would i need to buy 2 and have them at the end of my chain to get a good stereo sound? I don't really care about having my L and R amps sounding different
We demo that and talk about it and everything :) but yes!
Now I need a version for effects instead of amps
Very nice and interesting tiny pedal. If I didn't have the Tone X, I would have probably buy it (maybe I will still buy it one day). Regarding the "set and forget" approach, I do fully agree with you guys. I have the Fractal FM9 and even though I have more amps and cabs (a lot from you - WT) that I can think about it, I use the same preset(s) 80% of the time when I play at church (and live). So I can use this Tone X one with just one delay (hopefully Ik Multimedia will build a delay one pedal too, of the same size as the Tone X one), to play anywhere.
Excellent job by IK Multimedia. I have only one advise to IK Multimedia. Please make the synchronization between the pedals and the software, more user-friendly (some time ago, I couldn't get my Tone X to be online and connect to the software. I got great help from Ik Multimedia to solve the issue). In this regard, Fractal and Line 6 do an excellent job (maybe other boards too, I have pinpoint the ones I have / use).
Great review WT 🎸.
I can't say this will not convince me to switch from my Helix, but makes me wonder what's around the corner even more. It wouldn't surprise me if Line 6 uses the Pod Express platform for future competitor to this Tonex. If Line 6 can make a stereo version that integrates with the HX software....
How does it compare to the Line 6 Pod Express?
Question: I wanted to buy a compressor which can go before all my pedals. If I buy this mini ToneX mini, do I still need a separate compressor? I see that this tonex mini has compressor but this pedal can go into my last chain in the board. What is your recommendation? Thanks
if you use tonex as an amp it's going either in the middle or end of your signal chain which would be a weird spot to have the only compression happening in your signal. personally, i'd still get a compressor to compress the incoming signal on the front end and then use the compression on the tonex at the end of my signal for some top-down compression if need be.
and for acoustic? does it work?
I'd love a revised version with a tiny little screen that hurt shows Numbers for your sound banks.... where you could scroll througha bunch of presets. That's got to be doable for like $10 extra.
Tonex is great and all...but we really want to know is where Brian got his overshirt? Love it!
Can you capture an acoustic and use it with your acoustic?
Did you mention that there is a built in tuner in this pedal?
You could use a patch cable or a 1/4 to 1/4 coupler and literally put this on your strap or in your pocket while you play kind of like the katana go
could this and a POD Express be all you need for a solid pedalboard???🤔
Not familiar with the tonex ecosystem. Does anyone know if you can use an acoustic IR as one of the tonex presets? If so, this would be an awesome all-in-one acoustic rig.
You can load IRs yes!
Everything these guys play is so bright and tinny sounding oh and the same blaaa
Pretty sweet if you just want one amp. Although, if you plan on pairing two together, I think it would be worth it to just get the ACS1 for $40 more and have even more options for dual amp/cab setups.
I think you’re thinking of this the from opposite side of things. We are seeing a product that was $399 and get shrunk down and stripped of some features to bring it to $180. You can get 2 of these for cheaper than one of its bigger brother. Pretty wild.
If you want an ACS1 tho absolutely do that. But I think the quality goes to ToneX here personally.
AND it’s a USB C interface!! WILD
This would be dope for under a board too. If you just set it how you like.
This has me wanting to sell my Pod Go to rebuild my board around one of these!
As someone who temporarily ditched the POD Go to do exactly what you described (just using the regular TONEX pedal), I'll just say it is very expensive to go this route, and not quite as satisfying as one would think. While I will say the TONEX sounds amazing and acts exactly like a real amp, it wasn't worth the cost to me for what was a marginal difference in tone and capability. I'd go as far as to say the POD Go was way more flexible and user-friendly than my pedalboard full of cool overdrives, tuner, reverb, delay and modulation. My FOMO had me buying all kinds of cool pedals at top prices just so I could have a board full of blinking lights like those guys on WT videos. And of course, you need a sweet CIOKS power supply to feed all those neat pedals. About $2,000 later, I had an Instagram-ready pedalboard that really didn't make that much of a difference in my sound. I sold everything (at a loss) and went back to the POD Go, which I find way more convenient, consistent and flexible (just download cool tones from WT for a few bucks). And no one cared/noticed on my worship team or Instagram. Only my wallet said thanks.
@@ricotinez Exactly my experience. I’ve been using the HX Stomp for quite some time now, my board was built around it. Decided I wanted another modeler to “free up DSP on the Stomp in favor of using more of its FX” Bought and Iridium and was unimpressed after comparing their AC30 models against each other through the same IRs (Iridiun wasn’t better, just different and actually prefer how the Stomp saturates with ODs in front and how it cleans up🤔). Am I gonna try the ACS1? YES. Will I probably get two Tone X Ones? VERY likely!!! BUT I was 100% happy with the Helix before all of this 🤡 Anyway, we don’t NEED more gear but there is certain value in trying different solutions and sticking to what really works for you and moving on.
Please do a whole video on phase! 😂
This is the video to watch: ua-cam.com/video/LH9FO1EMIPQ/v-deo.htmlsi=rs_cOhoQE6w0dDBL
What guitar did he play at the beginning?!?!?!!!?
I always check worship tutorials after the usual icons like R.J., Pete Hermans, etc. 😉
They’re going to sell SO many of these. 😂
Pair it with a pod Express and you have a rig that fits in your two pockets and runs on batteries I already have an HX Stomp and a tonex pedal and they are an amazing combination but you can't run them on batteries and they're about three times larger this should basically be everybody's backup solution in case an amp goes out or as just your main rig
Great tones, neat little thing with a lot of uses, but with no effects loop, that's a limitation, IMO. Running effects before amps clearly different, "after" not really the same as an effects loop?
You are at Burger King asking for waygu. This ain’t meant to be full featured like that haha
Wait - Burger King doesn’t have Wagyu? 😮😂
I would like to see a double switch and flip it over pre sets....may not be as practical the way it is, that's my perception after watching a few demos.
I just bought the UA ruby and dream🤦🏽♂️
This is a great demo! I tend to go to one or two amp models in my Katana, so something like this might really work well. Thanks for sharing the excellent sounds and walkthrough of how to use it.
Bradford breaking out the Christmas riffs!
I’m psyched
Pair it with the Pod Express and you've got an all-in-one rig that runs on battery power I have an HX Stomp and a tonex pedal but they don't fit in my pocket for travel and they don't run on batteries this could be your backup rig or your full rig
It's an amazing piece of tech, but not enough for me to switch from Helix back to a pedal board.
Can you use this with a real amp? Like plug it in to a Fender Tone Master Twin Reverb?
@7:35 @bmitchellmusic
Agreed about the MIDI statement for this pedal (size). Ofcourse it doesn't fit and is not the purpose of this partucilar product.
But hear me out, why I think it could be useful on this kind of product.
You could store multiple captures of the same amp with different gain stages and cycle through these, using MIDI, in a live situation.
You will lose flexibility, but if you have found your, let's say, 3-5 stages of overdrive, you could drop the overdrive section of your board and just do it with the tonex.
When your using it as a 'stompbox' overdrive pedal, it could also be great to switch it with MIDI
the first sample is running Stereo?
All samples are stereo. We list the capture in the bottom corner of the video. If it only says one capture that means we are using one TONEX ONE with stereo wet effects after.
@@worshiptutorials great thank you!!!!
Makes me wanna dump my Iridium and get like 4 of these and make a HUGE sound 😂
Unbelievable! “It’s a killer time to be a guitar player!”
Going to spend just as much on a Diso as two Tonex Ones. lol
Nice video but it would be helpful if you used stand guitars like a typical stock Les Paul, Tele, and Strat
So you need to buy half a dozen of them to have a dozen tones/Captures at a gig...or am I missing something?
Huh? No? Did you watch us walk thru how to navigate it? We show that 👍🏼
You missed to watch the video
@@worshiptutorials
You have a choice of two amp captures to switch between.
And a third if you have the time to bend down and change modes during a gig but in that new mode you only have the third amp until you switch back to the original two amp mode....correct...so three amps maximum between the two modes?
@@guitartoneSA plus the additional banks you can navigate to as well, if I’m not mistaken. I think the guys here did a pretty good job demonstrating that if you’re going to need a million different captures per gig, stick with the big Tonex. If you only need 1-3, this guy would be perfect.
MIDI FUNCTION?
This tinny little thing is impressive!
Been loving the original Tonex pedal but didn’t have enough real estate to run two for stereo amps. That all changes now…
With this and a good P.A. and mixer you can easily hit the road in a van.
Can this tiny guy operate solitary?
They have mentionhed a price I'm sure - I missed it - anyone got it please?
$179 👍🏼
