James Cagney was always magnificent in films. White Heat is a all time great movie. He was a man of amazing character and fantastic father to his children.
A long time fan of his here. He preferred dancing rather than playing the tough guy. He once said Yankee Doodle Dandy was his favorite role because of the dancing he was able to do in that movie.
11.10.2021 @@frannyleyden7988 JC's has always been my favorite actor. Loved him since I was a teenager, 64 y/o now. 👵👊 I read that the scene of him dancing the stairs was done in 1 take!!! What an unbelievable actor & amazing talent.👊❤
James Cagney was an amazing actor. I have seen him in many movies and playing George M Cohan in Yankee Doodle Dandy was my all time favorite. He played a varied types of characters in his career and played all of them well. His life shows that no matter how bad your life begins and is as you grow up you have the power to rise above it.
My favourite role of Cagney’s was the captain in Mister Roberts with Henry Fonda. He brought a lot of humour to the role, playing the captain as an angry, frustrated man (with his tongue firmly in his cheek!).
My favorite actor was James Cagney. The scene in Yankee Doodle Dandy where he danced down the stairs was the best for me. Shirley Temple and Bo Jangles did even a better similar scene that for me is the greatest. My favorite actress was Ginger Rodgers.. I liked her best in The Major and the Minor. No major dancing in that movie but man could she move on the dance floor.
I remember the various movies that James Cagney was in. His tough criminal roles are always first thought about, but I recall him in two movies as one specific man ... James Cagney was George M Cohan in both "Yankee Doodle Dandy" and "The Seven Little Foys".
@@Jarhead-te8id I remember even when he resorted to punching someone it would hurt his knuckles. The character development between him, his dad and Angel was top notch....
I knew James Gagney wasn't a "gangster" or a "tough man". He was an extremely talented man. He truly is one of my favourite actors/ performers, ever. He (was) the only actor on this planet that could have played the role of Michael Corleone better than Al Pacino. (or the part of Sonny...Or Tom Hagen...Even Vito, himself ) Gagney truly was one of the greats and should be remembered as such.
It always cracks me up when there's a video, 'so and so wasn't anything like they were in the movies'. Yeah, that's what acting is, pretending to be other people.
Cagney didn't push his weight around but you never heard of anyone taking him on either....I like the gangster movies but I never pass watching Yankee Doodle Dandy whenever it's on tv. It's one of the few where Jimmy gets to show off his dancing....
Actually, Tracy won the Oscar for Boys Town in 1938, Angel's With Dirty Faces came out in 1939. Cagney lost the Oscar to Robert Donat for his role in Goodbye Mr. Chips. I'm a huge Cagney fan of over 40 years, so even his so so films are fun. As far as my favorites, The Public Enemy, Footlight Parade, G-Men, Something To Sing About, The Strawberry Blonde, The Roaring Twenties, The Bride Came C.O.D., Yankee Doodle Dandy (of course), The Time of Your Life, White Heat (of course), Man of A Thousand Faces, Love Me Or Leave Me, One, Two, Three, Ragtime, and of course, Angels With Dirty Faces.
Real live Yankee Doodle Dandy ... & Strawberry Blonde with Rita Hayworth , Mister Robert’s was good because he had 15-20 other good actors like Martin Milner , Jack Nicholson & Jack Lemmon , not to mention Ward Bond , William Powell & Nick Adams ... Bogart got the praise but the best were E G Robinson & Jimmy Cagney
@@moriahjacobs6131 Yes. The original jpeg had a pic of James Garner from the Rockford File s era in it. Then after the comments about the oops it was fixed about 24 hours later.

"Angels With Dirty Faces" is my personal favorite of all of Jim's films.
That's the film everyone of his imitators seemed to reference...the swaggering shoulder shrug..." whaddya hear...whaddya say"...
James was one of the greatest actors and dancers ever! Thanks for sharing!!😊
A delightful actor and superb dancer, Jimmy Cagney had a summer home on Menemsha Bight

Why is it that the thumb nail picture is of James Garner NOT James Cagney?
That‘s why I clicked on it
I see that they changed the thumbnail pic from James Garner to James Cagney now.
Dude, the thumbnails James Garner.
My favorite actor was James Cagney. The scene in Yankee Doodle Dandy where he danced down the stairs was the best for me.
Shirley Temple and Bo Jangles did even a better similar scene that for me is the greatest.

One of my favorite actors.
Yankee Doodle Dandy was my favorite Cagney movie, but I also enjoyed his performance in "Mr. Roberts" and the lesser known "One,Two,Three."
I grew up watching him on TV he was great
I've always loved him as George M. Cohan in 'Yankee Doodle Dandy'. I think that was his best movie and the one he'd like to be remembered for.
Why is there a picture of James Garner if the story is about James Cagney? Too Many Fireballs I Guess! Lol!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Wow interesting story, may he rest in peace, 🙏 I liked his films. Great video thanks 🖤
Two James for one!!! Both actors are memorable....thanks facts verse...
Can't think of anyone better then Cagney.

Someone doesn't know their Cagney from their Garner!
I saw the thumbnail and busted out laughing when I read the title, not only because they got the wrong actor but the thumbnail itself is pretty funny

@Marikio D
Pardon me, but it's Cagney,
not Gagney.🤓👊
Cagney turned down the part of Hyman Roth in The Godfather Part 2...it would have been great to have seen him gel with that generation of actors...
Why does the thumbnail show James Garner?
Not sure what James Garner has to do with Cagney but hey it's all good
Thanks for Doing Cagney my favorite all time actor.
Love him & all his films!!!
Is that James Garners photo in the thumbnail?
I am a big Cagney fan Yankee Doodle. Dandy and Angels.with Dirty Faces are my two favs!

Yankee Doodle Dandy , and What Price Glory , show both a tough guy demeanor and gentle side both.
Cagney dropped out of school when his father died of the flu. He was the second oldest and had to find a job to support his family.
one of a kind.. a legend n, his right, my man!! r.i.p.
They used live ammunition on Cagney pictures until White Heat (1949) He was almost shot and didn't want to puch his luck.
I have a copy (DVD) on the movie "1,2,3" 1961 and it's the best !!!
Brilliant just brilliant actor.
Thanks for watching!

Whoops you have a picture of James Garner not Cagney.
Your thumbnail is INACCURATE as the photo is JAMES GARNER NOT James Cagney.... need to change it.
I guess James Cagney wanted to be more like Brett Maverick / James Garner

Why is james garners face on there?
Man of a Thousand Faces, White Heat, Yankee Doodle Dandy... though I watch anything if he's listed in the credits. ,👍
I waited to hear where he was born in the Ossarks in Missouri.
He had a house next to Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher at one time.
Have watched Yankee Doodle so often my wife now forbids it being played.
