Its never what you think it is going to be on Superior

Although the wind started earlier than forecast we assumed we would have more typically great downwind conditions in a building wind. This seemed confirmed when driving to launch we observed many smaller whitecaps on the Lake and not the fewer, massive ones that portents a more difficult run. Well we were wrong, it was a like a washing machine out there and the bigger waves were moving faster than I expected. But what a beautiful sunny day, and almost 40 F (4 C)!
