He only wanted her when she wasn't his, of made progress in her life. He wanted to control her and own her, not love her. If he loved her, he wouldn't have done that. He would think about things and try to talk to her, or make some sacrifice for her for once. You can't just assume someone will marry you, they have a mind of their own, you have to lock that down and make a commitment . This is a toxic couple
