Don't gotta be Italian (like I'm not,) just gotta be from North Jersey and it's part of ya! Although my godfather was Italian, a great man, and a cannoli connoisseur, so perhaps I'm honorary Italian because of that? I kinda feel so. I've lived outside of Jersey for many years now but the accent still comes on strong quite awften.
Someone definitely trained James Gandolfini to talk like this on The Sopranos. He didn't sound this way early on in the show but he did in the later seasons.
Man, that sounded good. I was born in Northern Jersey but we moved to Connecticut when I was seven years old. My family kept the accent going. My brother ate Taylor ham just about every morning for breakfast when we were growing up.
There's Northern Jersey and Southern Jersey.... Trenton is Southern and we sound like those from Philly. This is how Italians sound in Trenton alot . Not all Jersians sound like this though. This is more Northern Jersey really or New York but I have heard some in Hamilton and Trenton talk this way too but they're usually Italian
@@nadrellmcmillan8168 They sound similiar. I don't sound like I'm from NY but I do sound like I'm from South Jersey, and it's different than other parts of Jersey.
Ya know what’s funny is that I’m of Russian and Slovak descent yet I haven’t picked up neither accent. I am born and raised right in Hamilton (Mercer) and I think by how other northern jersey people talk that I have a northern jersey accent too. There’s probably a hint of southern jersey in there too since I live right on the cusp of both north and south (YES THERE IS CENTRAL JERSEY, it exists that’s where I live lmao)
Taylor ham sandwich on a Kaiser roll from a North Jersey diner.. My old favorites..Mark Twain.. Huck Finn.. Tropicana..Eagle Rock.. Tick tock.. Union plaza.. Stanley's.. Whippany.. City line.. Don's..Kless.. Peter pan.. Arlington....... many are gone but not forgotten.
Steve Petocz becore i moved to AZ... The mark twain was where me and my father went for some kick ass diner food and coffee on a cold day. Sucks it closed..
I’ve been to a few of those myself. I miss the Stewart’s drive-in that was in Kearny that closed a few years back. Can’t beat that frosted mug of root beer!🥤
So I migrated from the South of Italy to Australia 15 years ago, and I speak English like them 2. so I am from Jersey too.....and I have never been to America....
I also love the stack in Arlington. And tops diner in east Newark is always another favorite. I worked in Newark for years and some of the best diners are there to: Crystal diner, Central diner, Monte Carlo just to name a few.🍽
I'm from South Jersey. Never heard calamari nor mozzarella pronounced that way, and my late husband was half Italian. His paternal grandparents were from Italy. He was the only one of his siblings that didn't marry someone Italian. So, I spent a lot of time around Italians. I'm wondering for the pronunciation if it's rural vs city. Oh and it's definitely pork roll 😂.
Only about 1/4 of New Jersians speak like them. The three counties that border New York. The other 3/4's of us have a cross between an accent that sounds like a cross between a New England, and Philadelphian accent... If you want to hear what MOST New Jersians sound like: ua-cam.com/video/qo3Sy9oN5Ug/v-deo.html
This is for a very small portion of north Jersey which may as well be New York. I Wish people in South Jersey sounded like this. The South Jersey accent might be the worst part of living here.
#이것뭐야? ( I spelled it phonetically and failed i knew it looked wrong to I edited it, I am self taught a huge portion of English I self learned my bilingual classes taught me basics but I taught myself religion and philosophy. And Spanish I learned in School until the 3rd grade the rest of my Spanish I taught myself politics too Mexican and American politics. ) Point being from all the examples of people that I know #f2f that are from #northjersey #northjerseyaccent no ONE says JOYSI or wtf it is spelled! NJ ain't the same that I know it is a bit safer in my town now but still if you go to North jersey around Paterson area do not say we sound like that it could get you shot. I am le shocked that I had to switch languages nothing in English or Spanish that the feeling that one gets when saying that in Korean! In other words Wtf is this? Que chingada madre es esto?! . . .Please be SPECIFIC ! THIS IS NOT HOW MY PEOPLE MY COUNTY SPEAK! North Jersey be hella different ya really speaking weird hella weird O ( our way of saying all of our alters united as one, all 5 ) of us NEVER heard people in real life speak that way that must be some boomer OLD SPEAK , yea I stole that last one from 1984.

You guys are a riot!
Im from California. Gotta say, I'm real jealous of that accent of yours!
Be in Italian from New Jersey It gets kind of old
I have lived out of NJ for 40 years and my accent is almost as strong as these guys. I love the accent.
I'm homesick now smh. Born in Camden, New Jersey but raised in Asbury Park on the Shore. I miss hearing this especially by Jersey Italians.
Taylor ham sandwich on a Kaiser roll from a North Jersey diner..

You guys are so cool!!!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Pie not pizza. Gravy not sauce. Caw fee with milk and sugar is regular caw fee.
I think I-195 is the dividing line between Taylor Ham and Pork Roll.
I lived all over Monmouth County for 43 years and I don't think Ive ever heard anybody mispronounce Pork Roll 😁
Not only Italians in Jersey speak like this, please let's not forget that. Accents and dialects are created in proximity alot of the time
very true stuff!
I was listening to this while doing the dishes and when he said pork roll, I damn near broke my neck to turn and look at my phone like "Dafaq?!?" Lol
There from north jersey. south jersey is kinda different it’s more of a Philly accent
To an untrained ear it sounds similar but if you listen closely there are certain words that are said very differently.
the taylor ham - pork roll explanation was top tier from mike

So I migrated from the South of Italy to Australia 15 years ago, and I speak English like them 2. so I am from Jersey too.....and I have never been to America....
