Beautiful! I am from Newfoundland and it’s a linguist’s goldmine because it’s Britain’s first colony and there’s a mixture of Irish, English, French and Scottish too. What’s wonderful is the dialects are really difficult for most people to understand. Thanks Sammy! I have to show my daughters this video.
People are saying that people don't sound like that where they live and then they also say there are different dialects. If there are different dialects then you don't know if she is speaking like one of those. To me she did really good to not be a native speaker from those countries.
Meow Hunter London is a city, and natively has only a few dialects. She's got too much coming through the nose, like an American would speak. But her tips are amazing for every language. But she's a dialect coach, so being given critical feedback might be useful to her career.
No, if people are saying there's different dialects, it's because they're aware of those accents. Take her UK and Ireland accents for example, they're very generalised and what an American thinks people from those places sounds like when in fact there are dozens of accents within those places.
I feel like old southern is really only in parts of Georgia (where I’m from) and Florida now, definitely not in Alabama. It is sad since it is dying out, we should revive it.
There should be an accent linguist (are those a thing? As in, instead of studying Cantonese, Navajo or Zulu, they might study Cockney, Southern Belle, Medieval English... accents, e.g. noting their phonologies for if there was, say, a film set in the American South around the turn of the 20th century, when the old southern accent would be more prevalent, so that the actors could then learn that accent to play the characters accurately) who records this so even when the last natural speaker dies out, people can reintroduce it in the future

Evelyn O'Connell her Midwest accent sounds like a mix of upper Michigan and a valley girl. More emphasis on the valley girl. I've lived in Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, and have a lot of family in Illinois and travel to Michigan fairly regularly. Her accent is basically an insult.
Jessica Kelly Eh, no, it was not brilliant. It wasn't appalling but any Irish person could identify the speaker as American. It was what Americans think an Irish accent sounds like.
Jessica Kelly I agree. Many American actors are much worse. I think she needs better source material. And she should stay well away from non-English speaking accents. I don't speak Russian but that didn't sound like a Russian accent. It was vaguely Eastern European. I do have some French and German, and her attempts were almost parodies of the real thing. Perhaps if she learnt a foreign language it would help, although that might be a bit of a challenge with impaired sight.
You're very talented. I'm Irish and you have a good grasp in general. As with all accents it's difficult to be specific until you go to a particular region and get insight from the natives. To my ear the accents I'm not as familiar with sound amazing and of course those closer to home I'd say need more finesse. Each country/state encompasses hundreds of dialects so you're giving a general overview. As a dialect coach, you're obviously well aware of this. My comment is more for those less knowledgeable on the subject who feel the need to troll. I would love to see more videos of you teaching accents.
Personally for me a Scottish person I strangely think it sounds a bit like that cause even though I'm Scottish my voice sounds more like that sort of accent
Ariana Grande puts on the Transatlantic accent often. Especially when she's giving interviews. Which means she's probably being fake. ✋🏼 I said it, don't bother coming 4 me it's not that serious!🤣

I wouldn't say 32 more like 3/4 (Southern, Western which sounds like Souhtern too, Northern and Eastern being more Dublin sounding) which are blended with others in various stengths depending on which county you're in
Qahs there's plenty like a northern accent, a Dublin accent, the middle of Ireland they speak super fast and ramble a lot and then there's cork/Kerry/limerick accent which is very distinctive
You were the best, i looked for an hour and a half to hear certain tones and you did it. Thank you!!! Also you are very good, keep it up, good job girl

cameron forsyth I’m half Scottish, and still am confused how they speak it. Half Indian, have no clue where it is or how to speak it... typical Britain gets in the way of any accent
There are literally tons of different accents in the Scottish dialect. In almost every location there is a different one. As stated in a previous comments I think she was just doing the stereotypical accent, for easy, basic comprehension. I'm not from Scotland even though I am Scottish, my grandma is from Scotland and says you can tell what town people where from just by they're accents. Sorry for the long family tree post, I thought it might be relevant. It's amazing that this lady can even differentiate between all these accents even though she is a dialect coach. If you can do better than her by all means constructively criticize her, but if you are just here to discredit someone's professional career, you may want to keep your thoughts to yourself. That is all! :)
Lucy Streiff The problem is she's not a Rhotic speaker and it shows. You can hear the American underneath the accent she's putting on. Your Grans right though about the accents.
I'm Scottish and I have to say the accent was pretty bad, just because you can hear the American accent behind it. She should probably have tried to pick one area and gone with that. And you're right about accents in Scotland, my friends and I always joke that, not just our area, but our high school had an accent! :P
Kirsty Hulme Yeah it's mad how much the accent changes in a short distance like Lochore to Mossmoran. Don't think it's so noticeable to people outside of Scotland though. I mean people have confused me for Irish before *shrugs*
Lucy Streiff Every couple miles in Scotland there's a different accent and people with different financial backgrounds sound different from others in the area. Her impression was bollocks bc despite this it was unlike anything that actually exists.
Old Southern made me think of someone reading a mystery book or those weird cooking recipes like “gently beat your slice of chicken...put the oven to 150 and enjoy that glass of wine you’re dying to start” 😏😆

Salma Morales no it's not. The flag of London is the St. George's Cross (flag of England, not the UK), with a red sword in the top left corner
EXACTLY JUST USE THE ENGLISH FLAG BC ITS NOT LIKE ITS IN IRELAND
Kàthy Official, the English flag and the U.K. flag are different flags ya feckin idiot.
Zachary Wilson I Ken but London is in England
Omg her brooklyn accsent sounds like bebe rexha
Evelyn O'Connell XD
Evelyn O'Connell her Midwest accent sounds like a mix of upper Michigan and a valley girl. More emphasis on the valley girl. I've lived in Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, and have a lot of family in Illinois and travel to Michigan fairly regularly. Her accent is basically an insult.
AstralGambit sorry but I'm sk lost...I'm from ireland so thnx for explaining but I wouldn't know
Evelyn O'Connell I'm from the uk
Caitlin O'C omg we could be related somewhere along the lines 😂
Being Scottish myself the "Scottish" accent is nothing like it really is.
julie gilmour yeah I agree
Shoutout to fellow generic american accent speaking people
Me: What the hell is up with her eyes?
Her: "I'm legally blind"
Me: Oooooh
k
Geral Ferald lol
Geral Ferald in
she's really just stoned
Geral Ferald Im laughing si hard because of this Oml you made my day! 😂😂
I thoroughly enjoyed this video!!
Oh she did a brilliant Irish accent, I love her... wow
Are you serious rn
I know like
Jessica Kelly Eh, no, it was not brilliant. It wasn't appalling but any Irish person could identify the speaker as American. It was what Americans think an Irish accent sounds like.
@@Clodaghbob listening to it again I guess it wasnt brilliant but it was still better than a lott of irish accents in movies, also I am Irish
I would love to see more videos of you teaching accents.
im in the post-transatlantic area so very very used to that
Yorkshire is like Irish and cockney? Eh?
YangSing1 ikr 😒
I immediately went to Jon Snow. Don't judge.
Freya yeah I'm from the South so I wouldn't be good on TV 😂😂
oi im from dublin ireland we do not sound like yorkshire accents
Personally for me a Scottish person I strangely think it sounds a bit like that cause even though I'm Scottish my voice sounds more like that sort of accent
That's not a london voice, this is a london voice:
"Oi wagwam Blaad Wha do yu tink ya doin Pusyol!"
No idiot thats Chav not London
London is a HUGE mix of accents
She nailed how I sound when I talk, you wrote what dialog I use. I sound so weird when I talk.
MMFootballFilms she's legally blind so she ain't gonna see this
Ariana Grande puts on the Transatlantic accent often. Especially when she's giving interviews. Which means she's probably being fake. ✋🏼 I said it, don't bother coming 4 me it's not that serious!🤣
MiaMore lolll
Emma watson does it too
Ikr
not fake but but forced
not really?
I wish I could do that🙁
i was thinking “why is she blinking so much??” but then i found out she’s blind and that’s so inspirational! learning all of these languages without sight!😂💗
KKKHHHHHOOOWW are YoU?? 2:57
yes
Ariel vp YURI PLISESTSKY OR HOWEVER YOU SPELL IT
YESSSSS ❤👏👏👏
Ariel vp YURI ON ICE
*Y U R I O*
You’re amazing. This gave me a giggle. You’re so good. I love the New Zealand accent. Probably my favorite and then Russian.
Some being so triggered A lot of PPL can't even do 12 accents(her voice is rlly nice)
no hate,
just letting you know,
theres 32+ different irish accents.
Gracie Gracie no
Gracie Gracie yeah there and I'm from the capital Dublin.
Gracie Gracie I think when it gets super specific it's called a dialect... I could be wrong tho
I wouldn't say 32 more like 3/4 (Southern, Western which sounds like Souhtern too, Northern and Eastern being more Dublin sounding) which are blended with others in various stengths depending on which county you're in
your comment doesn't help. she can't read your comment
People say Canadians have accents, I don't hear it, maybe cause I'm Canadian 🤔
Literally everyone has an accent. Why do so many North Americans think they're accentless? lol
Jason A Hahaha where are you from eh?
During my travels i got confused a lot for american, except for actual americans who can spot my accent a mile a way
Jason A You're a funny guy
You guys say "sorry" weird and also "out" or any word with that "ow" sound in it
This is one of the times I love technology and wonder of our time. My daughter and I loved this video, great job!
Technology videos have been around for decades lol
the Irish accent sounds more stereotypical than how we actually speak. There are hundreds of different Irish accents tbh
Tbf no country has on single accent. But as a Londoner she sounded exactly like most of the Irish I know lol
Qahs there's plenty like a northern accent, a Dublin accent, the middle of Ireland they speak super fast and ramble a lot and then there's cork/Kerry/limerick accent which is very distinctive
Poor thing just sounded like a pirate😂😂
olwyn like every county practically has there own accent😂
olwyn yeah ahaha true true she sounds like shes from connaght lol
her accents are soft and neat
I’ve literally heard saiorse Ronan when she did the Irish accent
omg same!!
Marou auzzie Saoirse Ronan was born in the US. Her accent is a mixture of American and Irish midlands.
Thank you for this video it helped a lot and I think your Old South accent sounds amazing
Nice to see that the Welsh accent was in with the UK accents...
UltimateRhys17 Ikr Wales always get left out
UltimateRhys17 ino :,(
UltimateRhys17 Northern Ireland always gets left out of the UK things too lol
JessieIsIrish At least the country is partly included
Err northern variations are Irish dialects.....UK is a political entity and has thus zero bearing on accents within Ireland
Why did they use the British flag for London
Holly Millar it's the capital
cz96 AJ and more London is the capital of England not Britain
Holly Millar London is the capital of britain too
unsupplied no it is not go learn geography
yes it is
Listen girlie, don't listen to the haters, because you are amazing! I thought all of your accents were spot on!
are you from any of the places she did?
Emma Cloud Does it really matter if it’s perfect? She’s trying her best and it’s really good!
JessieFaig The English accents were wrong
The Scottish wasn’t very good but I thought the rest were good
When she gets like half of them completely wrong and the other half aren't that good you you kind of have to accept that the haters have a point
You were the best, i looked for an hour and a half to hear certain tones and you did it. Thank you!!! Also you are very good, keep it up, good job girl
I think she did well why is everyone getting so salty and hating like calm down
I like to speak like Russians, Germans, and Irish😊
If you dont know Filipino accent I will teach right now.
You need speak the words heavy and we pronounce the letter F like a P
For example:
Filipinos:”I am a Pilipino”
Probably you:”I am a Filipino”
We pronounce letter X like eks
and H for eyts.
vietnamese you have to make burp noises randomly and sound like an old farmers dont pronounce s
I feel bad because she's getting hate, it's probably because she's blind and I'm a softy 😕
No it's probably because they're bad attempts.
You know, they aren't going to be perfect. I dislike seeing hate comments. She tried her best and I don't think you could do any better. I thought they were pretty good.
RainbowSimmer it's ok she can't see it
RainbowSimmer same I feel so bad
Just because she can't see it doesn't mean it's alright.
The only time in my life I didn't regret clicking on a buzzfeed video
when ur country accent r not included 😥😥😥😥😥
Mad max *is
Mad max *your
true, the whole time I was like "but can she do an aussie accent? Nah she'll do it too harsh, I bet." nope, she's just not gonna do it at all
Kayla Lang me too lol
She's probs do the bogan accent and not all Australians sound bogan, I can put a bogan accent on but i don't sound bogan normally
As a legally half Scottish person, I am offended
Coookie0reo as a legally FULL scottish person i found it a bit cringey but it was quite a good attempt (how r u half scottish? i’m not meaning this in a mean way i’m just wondering)
Half poof anol
pezthirlou x my dads Scottish and I was born there. My mom was born in America and I live there. Also the legally part was because she said legally blind
I thought this was how you spoke when I heard Soap from the Modern Warfare series.
As a legally full scottish person I am fully offended
No wonder her eyes blink every milisecond but very talented
I’m so impressed at her range. I wish I could do even a small number of these. Maybe one day!
Nice to know that all Scottish people are actually Russian
cameron forsyth 😂
There completely different
cameron forsyth I’m half Scottish, and still am confused how they speak it. Half Indian, have no clue where it is or how to speak it... typical Britain gets in the way of any accent
😂😂😂😂😂
Not all of them. I'm Scottish and I'm not
I thought her Irish accent was pretty good!!!
same, thats exactly how my family sounds
Hannah Mulvehill what part of ireland cause ive been everywhere and ive not heard it
Yeah, I'm irish and her accent was way off 😅
I'm Irish, and it wasn't all that bad.
RespectablePeach are you serious? Where in Ireland are you even from??
I'm not sure Yorkshire, London, or Scotland were even real accents in this video.
Nothing but love for you girl! Loved this video and your passion for vocal sounds. I'm right there with ya.
Lucy Streiff
The problem is she's not a Rhotic speaker and it shows.
Kirsty Hulme
Yeah it's mad how much the accent changes in a short distance like Lochore to Mossmoran.
It's like how people from Glasgow pronounce Airdrie as Erdrie
Lmaooooo midwestern accent is pretty accurate. I’m Kentuckian and I approve
Old Southern made me think of someone reading a mystery book or those weird cooking recipes like “gently beat your slice of chicken...put the oven to 150 and enjoy that glass of wine you’re dying to start” 😏😆
You did really good at explaining each language and how to do it properly !
