Incredible swim! Katie continues to prove why she's the distance queen with such consistent dominance over the last decade. Remember, she first won GOLD in the 800m at the 2012 Olympics in London. She has 7 Olympic Gold medals and 19 World Championship Gold medals, the most in history for a female swimmer!

1500 freestyle report: Ledecky finishes, towels off, eats a sandwich, then watches the other competitors finish.
I picture some of the competitors thinking, "Wow, I'm keeping up with Ledecky!"
No, you're two or three laps behind her.
10 seconds is huge. Congratulations Katie!
She should have a snack at the midway point.
haha no, they mnow
@@bertorrrr Not in the heat of competition. All you know is where people are immediately adjacent to you (anyone outside of lanes 3 and 5 probably had no idea where she was and didn't care).
10 seconds was the margin for the world record. Her nearest competitor in the pool was about 40 seconds behind her.
@@ikepigott Yeah I tried looking for the other swimmers times but couldn't find them. Thanks. I did find that In another race recently she won swimming 22 seconds slower. Do you know if this is due to the difference swimming 25m vs a full 50m in the larger pools?
This should have received much more press. What an incredible feat. Go Katie!!
@@laurafinkelstein9181 a world record without an asterisk; who peed in your cornflakes this morning?
I can’t even put into words how ABSOLUTELY dominating she was in this race unbelievable!👍🤘🏻
She speeds up during the final laps. Amazing, outstanding athlete 🏊🏻♀🥇
Simply astounding. Whenever Katie swims the 1500m, it's never a question of if she'll win it's a question of if she'll break her own record.
Imagine that you are one of the elite swimmers in the world, in the finals against 7 other great swimmers, and then feeling the wake of this incredible athlete! I mean the 2nd place swimmer actually swam a fantastic, but it looked like she had an anchor compared to Katie's pace.
I'm reminded of the story of the four minute mile, when it took just the right conditions - including the 3 strongest runners in the world taking part - and pushing each other forward - for the psychological record to be broken. And here is Katie just doing laps in blissful solitude, as if in the world of her own, lapping the competition left and right. Amazing.
She's just incredible... It's got to be disheartening to even get in the pool with her...."how many seconds did Katie beat you by? 250m". You know all these other swimmers are fantastic themselves, which just makes Katie Ledecky that much more impressive.
I'm a gymnastics fan. I had a conversation with someone the other day on the topic of "Was gymnastics more or less interesting when Simone won SIX all-around golds in a row?" We settled on MORE interesting because there were kinda 2 simultaneous competitions -- Simone vs. her past self, and everyone else competing for silver and bronze! I imagine it probably feels similar for fans of women's distance swimmers in this era.
I just swim for exercise, and the most I've gotten in one workout is 1000 yards in roughly 30 minutes. Ledecky went more than 50% farther in half the time. That's hard to even wrap my mind around.
Her speed and endurance is unlike any other ever. Mind numbing!
What an extraordinary lady!! Watching her in this race, skimming across the water, you could almost swear she is jet propelled!!
It's difficult to fathom this kind of dominance at this level of competition.
It would be like a long jumper jumping 35 ft. or a javelin being thrown 115 meters. Ledecki is a great inspiration to girls everywhere.
@@brahmburgers Not true. 35 feet would be about 19% greater than the existing world record for the long jump and accomplished in a single jump (over 16% for the javelin improvement). In this race she set the 1500 short course world record by a little over 1% and her other world records are a little over 2% faster than the person with the world record before her (after multiple incremental improvements).
She is the most dominant female swimmer ever and certainly agree she is an inspiration to girls everywhere, but she hasn't done anything remotely close to what you are suggesting.
She came close to improving the 800m record in the split time. Just 1 second

Ledecky's 800m split in this race: 8:00,58
@@rockoslong4767hmmm no. The WR is held by Katie Ledecky at 7:57.42. She broke Belmonte’s record in Nov 2022, at these World Cup.
50m pace with 1500m/5000m technics, she opened an other class of competition. incredible is the work behind, which is not only physical or mental. congratulation
Stunning to see that her closest competitor was 2 laps behind, others 4 or 6 laps back. Just, wow!!!! I wonder whether there will be someone soon who can at least keep up with her . . . What an impressive athlete!
A man
@@wakeuppeople5815 so true🤣
@@wakeuppeople5815 Katie smokes Lia Thomas, she’s the best female by a margin and better than the majority of dudes
Putting to rest again the argument that male bodies can easily out perform female bodies!
@@harryrussell154except the male record is 37 seconds faster…
I’m still not over this.
While we are all in amazement of what she's achieved, just imagine for a moment her work ethic to get there.
It takes a lot of pain, sacrifice, dedication, and determination. It's not easy.
Holy smokes! I had a 30' length pool in my backyard & was happy to do 3 sets of 7-8 laps w/rests in between. Wouldn't even think to time it. This is phenomenal.
I'm thinking that most of us couldn't keep up with her even if we had a paddle board and swim fins. Well, I know that I couldn't.
Just another day in the office for Ledecky. The GOAT!
Phenomenal. We are all so lucky to be witnessing her amazing reign.
Greatest freestyler of all time
I just had to see it to believe it. Amazing! The smooth turns gave her a body length on everyone. The rest was God-like stamina driven by her own passion and skill. She likens to another great one-of-a-kind athlete: Secretariat. The world may never see a better.
saw this live!
Thank you so much for posting this......without commentary. I've heard enough exited Rowdy Gaines squeals to last seven lifetimes.
she is amazing...i can't wait to see her inParis......
This is a short course record, which was already lower than ledecky's official world record in the long course pool(50 meters). That record remains the same.
🎉🎉Katie. Met her in the summer at Phillips 66. Such a nice person, but a beast in the water
Felicitaciones. Obtuviste un Gran record mundial. Que gran nadadora eres.
I wonder how many lungs does she have. There’s mo stopping for her. She’s getting even stronger.
lol. She is such a legend!
I've seen this race 5 times. Ashtounding
Incredible Record!
Beautiful Balance, Katie makes the pool as small as a Bath Tub. Loads of room for improvement😉 well done
The Brazilian in lane #5 really did not want to get lapped by Ledecky. Looked like she was really giving it her all and did a commendable job fending off the the inevitable "Ledecky Lapping" ...for a while, but once Katie lapped her she faded quickly. Looks like a few girls got lapped a few times.
Es la reina, definitivamente. Esta es la prueba donde demuestra más su dominio, ya que en los 400 ya cedió el primer lugar con Australia, creo que con el ritmo que mantuvo, bien puede ir por el oro en esos 400. Felicidades!
Amazing!!! You ROCK👏🏼🤙
She is on her own league 👑👑👑
What a swim! What a swimmer! Well done Katie Ledecky!
Great video; a bit more of the underwater shot would have been cool for the swim nerds ... 😌
I take 1 hour to swim the same distance 🤭
...but you do the distance. Well done, you!
I swam this in college… my best was about 15:47.. her record blows me away ❤
Damn she must be dizzy ! Good job Kate . Hello from Sydney Australia everyone!
She is just competing against time. She is just amazing!!
There's another thing we can say for sure. She doesn't have long covid. What endurance!
Amazing!
Katie Ladecky, no one will forget ur name!!! U r a beast!!@
Predicted 15:08 this morning in the swim swam comments 🤣.
Big fan of Katie! A beast!!!!! Lapping your competition is insane to me.
Amazing. Have her on late night TV circuit. What a great example to girls everywhere!
Incredible 😳 wow ❤️
porque Finatv no muestra ni una sola secuencia de brazada completa desde abajo del agua?
Wow that is just amazing!!!!
Katie is absolutely phenomenal ! Fantastic !!
Katie Ledecky turned on Beast Mode soon as she hit the water. She is phenomenal, I’ve never seen anyone better… 👏🏽 👏🏽 👏🏽. I hope she reigns over the pool for a very very long time…
Amazing
WOW! Stunning!
My hero Katie! So smooth!
And it is an actual woman who won in a woman race!!! Love it!
The rest of the swimmers be like: I will try my best to prevent Ledecky from lapping me twice!😂
LEGEND
Amazing. Far beyond impressive.
No lo rompió, lo destruyó!!! Felicitaciones!!!
She*
Admiro a esta gran nadadora : katty
To think that she lapped *everyone* by that much!
Incredible!
Sensacional a katie
THE LEADDD IS INSANEE
Unbelievable as a teen in London and unbelievable now. She put more than 2 laps on most of the field and maybe all.
I’m speechless!!😃
Awesome! And you have more to do next year, because at 1200m you have partial over -10s yet...
Girl in the blue cap just above her got an added boost halfway through the race when ledeke lapped her giving her a pace car to chase.
I mean this as the highest compliment...Katie is a freak of nature, and living in her time is an honor!
I could watch this young lady swim, all day. You go Katie!!!
What competition is this?
That was insane she's a beast an amazing athlete 💪🏾
Katie is in a universe of her own, and she's not slowly down!
Damn. She killed it! 🏅🏅🏅🏅
Did I just witness her lap them 4 times?
At least!
Good for her.
She was very nice, waited for everybody to finish before getting out of the pool. Class
You have to do that, why on earth would you think you don't have to
Not surprisingly everybody else does that too.
Que barbaridad
"Hi, Katie! What are your plans for today?"
"Just the usual. Kicking ass and taking names. You know, girl stuff."
What a BAMF.
I love 💗 watching Katie Ledecky and Katie grimes at the 2024 summer Olympic Games in Paris France
I love how that bright pink suit stands out against the water!
GO KAITE!!!
Beast!
Katie Ledecky the best 🔝
Greetings and Blessings
Impressive
👍👍👍
Idk what that music was in the background, but I would rather dig my own brain out with a spoon than listen to that.
Turned off sound 🙉
She freakin lapped people. That's just incredible. She finished and had to hang out in the pool waiting for the rest of the swimmers to finish.
USA.. USA..so proud of her. She lapped her competition like America should.
Astounding... But, was she just a bit disappointed that she didn't break the 15 minute barrier...????
holy crap
There has to be a TKO in swimming. The opponent swimmers have given up.
She is the women’s swimmer of a lifetime.
Simply stated… she’s amazing!
10 seconds! Folks thats HUGE! 10 SECONDS, KATIE is like watching secretariat in the Belmont. HISTORY i got to see HISTORY, thank you KATIE and AWESOME JOB! Congratulations!🇺🇸
GEEZ!!! How many swimmers did she lap?!?!
The time she beat it by works out to over 1%, which is the really crazy part. When thinking about the top 1% of athletes in the world it is crazy to think that one of them could be far enough ahead of every other athlete to compete in that event ever. By comparison, you would only have to beat the Women's 100m dash, an event where strategy is no existent because it is just 'sprint', you would have to beat the WR time by over 0.11sec against a record of 10.49sec set in 1988, so no one has beat that time in over 3 decades.
uuuuuh Brazil 🎉🎉
I don’t wanna sound stupid, but can someone please tell me if this is the Olympics or not?
I can’t wait to see Katie Ledecky and Simone biles and Ryan Murphy at the gymnastics events and swimming events at the 2024 summer Olympic Games in Paris France 🇫🇷
