Pt. Debu Chaudhuri’s String Arrangements for sitar tunning:
1. 1st String (String of Baaj) in Ma(F Sharp) Note
2. 2nd String(String of Jod) in Sa(C Sharp) Note
3. 3rd String (String of Khadaj) in Pa(G Sharp) Note of lower octave
4. 4th String (String of Khadaj) in Pa(G Sharp) Note of Middle Octave
5. 5th String(1st Chikari) in Sa(C Sharp) Note of Middle Octave
6. 6th String(2nd Chikari) in Sa(C Sharp) Note of Middle Octave
7. 7th String(3rd Chikari) in Sa(C Sharp) Note of Higher Octave

The standard traditional way of sitar string arrangement and tuning of the seven strings are detailed below:
i. 1st string tuned in (Ma)-( 4th note: middle octave) (saptak) known as baaj ke taar
ii. 2nd string tuned in (Sa)-( 1st note: middle octave) known as jor ke taar
iii. 3rd string tuned in (Sa)-( 1st note: known as jor ke taar
iv. 4th string tuned in (Pa)- 5th note: lower octave) known as kharaj ke taar
v. 5th string tuned in (Pa)-( 5th note: middle octave) steel string
vi. 6th string tuned in (Sa) - 1st note: middle octave) and - badi chikari
vii. 7th string tuned in (Sa) - ( 1st note: higher octave) last string-chhoti chikari
Note: This system was followed by most of the traditional players

Very good helpful tutorial for tuning a sitar 🤗🤗🤗 I have a 6 string sitar with 12 synaptic strings and I have heard that the tuning is some different
By tuning the first string, it is loosen again and again but after you told I have to lay the sitar with strings upside , I will try again 🤗🤗

When u say tuning to F sharp or C sharp, what exactly do u mean ? I find F1, F2, F3, F3# etc, in the app, not just F Sharp. Can one tune to any of these F variants ?

F 1,2,3,4 or C 1,2,3,4 indicates the octave.. Like say in piano 8 octaves.. C 4 indicates Middle C 4th octave key.. .
C #( sharp ) means half note pitch high... C# is also you can say D flat..

I think at 12:13 you are using the incorrect tuning peg, you tune string 5 as C# instead of G# ! 😁
