  • All single-point anchors should be rigged to be self-equalizing (LDA), especially when you're using material like webbing or cordage to tie it. My rigging preference for single-point anchors is in this order:
    1. A "Wrap-N-Pull" of some type (LDA)
    2. A Basket Hitch (LSA)
    3. A Choker/Girth Hitch (LSA)

Why not just use webbing in a basket hitch and self equalize it with a second carabiner like you did with the anchor strap? We have all of our webbing pretied for the basket hitch. The basket is just as strong as the wrap 3 pull 2 but eliminates all the wasted time of trying to build a bomber anchor. Efficient rigging makes for a huge time saver.

Meh... for flexibility & streamlining equipment. If I pre-tie webbing into a sling, that implies that all my anchors would have similar diameters. Plus I eat up a carabiner that might be needed elsewhere. We use webbing for all kinds of non-standard rigging applications. The time it takes to tie a knot is trivial
