Everyone saying he's been ripped off 280$: the country's economy is barely up, they are still in war and inflated prices are the standards. How do you expect a country that's been in war for almost 10 years to provide you a flight for less than 200?

    • @basharmously2162

As a Syrian trust me they got ripped off since this is how we treat foreigners unfortunately, most people just treat them as money bags hey if he is a foreigner and has a camera he must be rich!!

@@basharmously2162 well .. iam syrian and i tried it once , the same price
But its a 10 years war so its pretty normal to have things expensive
Altough schools and hospitals are free
You cant focus on flight prices
And by the way i just wanted to try which is why i choosed it

Very interesting video. Back in 1983 I took a Syrian Arab Airlines flight from Heathrow to Damascus. I think it went via Frankfurt, but I’m not totally sure, it’s a long time ago now. I was using my staff travel privileges, I remember being surprised that the airline accepted me for travel on that basis. Flew home a couple of days later on a BA Boeing 707. Great times!

Operating costs for an aircraft in a war zone is MUCH higher. Not just insurance, but consider that all maintenance issues when there are trade embargoes that prevent spare parts from being sold to airline. (or aircraft likely belongs to another airline who then wet leases it and pays and arranges for maintenance outside of Syria). Obtainig Jet fuel may not be easy either.
Airport fees may also be very high.

well you can have 10 euro tickets when you have working economy, competition and can expect you fill up the plane...
when you fly to or from a country where there are several armed conflicts at the same time adn there is only one single option, you have to count on a higher price.. .I probably wouldn't want to pay it, but I guess that it is reasonable... considering circumstances.

Please, despite these very genuine and informative vlogs, it is ABSOLUTELY NOT ADVISABLE to fly to Syria. Arbitrary arrests by Syrian authorities are commonplace and the lack of diplomatic protection is a reality. If you have the misfortune of getting arrested and jailed in Syria, your country will most likely not be notified and the protection of your human rights will not be guaranteed. Think twice.

Throughout this video you were acting as if you were in another dimension. It was as if you were in this mysterious land which was out of this universe. Everything seemed to freak you out and surprise you. I know you were doing that partly for dramatic effect but let's not overdo it. It is the Middle East and not another unknown galaxy. So, tone it down a little and don't act like you are seeing a ghost around very bend.

On first notice: Cham is pronounced as Sham, since most of gov. or private institutions use french language more than english in Syria... second as a foreigner most of the middle-eastern countries will charge foreigners more even if you are there for a minute... after i saw your second video of the series i decided to go to Syria for couple of days for private reasons, as a matter of fact i was there two days ago and now back in Lebanon... (Roads (Lebanon) were closed up until Monday afternoon, after that they came to an agreement to open the essential roads indefinately in Lebanon)... The area (Syria) you were in unfortunately was damaged badly, I went into different area where it didn't see war but i wouldn't advise you as a foreigner to visit there for the time being... However it was one of most secure cities and booming with traffic and people and good hospitality... I hope you at least tried to enjoy your stay in Syria since i enjoyed my stay.
    Cheers
