Very interesting video. Back in 1983 I took a Syrian Arab Airlines flight from Heathrow to Damascus. I think it went via Frankfurt, but I’m not totally sure, it’s a long time ago now. I was using my staff travel privileges, I remember being surprised that the airline accepted me for travel on that basis. Flew home a couple of days later on a BA Boeing 707. Great times!
Thanks man for sharing your experience. A lot of people would benefit from it, especially who are willing to visit Syria. We do hope you liked your time in Syria. Excuse us for the plane ticket, but 280$ is a reasonable price according to our economy.
I am very attached to the region, I'm in contact with several people there, but seeing "live" how the streets are in dear Damascus, and how peaceful the protests in Beirut were you made me cry, several times. Thank you and God bless you.
Operating costs for an aircraft in a war zone is MUCH higher. Not just insurance, but consider that all maintenance issues when there are trade embargoes that prevent spare parts from being sold to airline. (or aircraft likely belongs to another airline who then wet leases it and pays and arranges for maintenance outside of Syria). Obtainig Jet fuel may not be easy either. Airport fees may also be very high.
Syria has been in a war for 9 years fighting against western backed terrorists, thankfully things are getting back to normal and the western backed terrorists have been defeated, they are now mainly in Idlib.
