    Great video tutorial and super easy to understand and follow. Not too long, or too short. After watching just once, i went and changed my fluid with confidence for the first time ever. Thanks

    This video made me think I can’t change the oil myself. What a sophisticated scientific tool is that to change fluid.

      Thanks for watching! If you change fluids yourself long term it's definitely a good investment at $100 or so. It's really easy to use.

    I love this guy!. If he started rapping he would sound exactly like E40. Word of advice.. that fill plug is very easy to strip, if it strips u can also fill from the shifter hole up top this requires removing the shifter.

    • @DmitrysGarage
      @DmitrysGarage  4 роки тому

      Haha my buddy in NY has said I get an E40 look when I’ve got glasses on instead of lenses. I was pretty concerned about stripping the plug, you gotta take your time and go slow. I did consider the shifter boot, but I know I would make a mess. If i did strip I’d probably just weld on a nut, get the plug off and then replace it.

    Wait so im hella confused about where you put the lift arms. I know there are grooves on the seam underneath the doors but on mine they just bend.

    • @DmitrysGarage
      @DmitrysGarage  4 роки тому +1

      I used the subframe rails that run down the length of the chassis. They're behind the seams under the doors. Those pinch weld seams are really for using the factory jack or for special pinch weld adaptors that you can put on the lift arms instead of the rubber pads.

    What about the S14 automatic I can't seem to find any videos of anyone has done the gear oil change along with the filter strainer and pan gasket

    • @DmitrysGarage
      @DmitrysGarage  6 років тому

      Sadly I don’t have an auto so all I can suggest is getting a copy of the FSM, easy to google and find. Generally the process is clearing anything that is in the way of the pan. Some have a method to drain others just pour out as you unbolt, hopefully carefully to one side. Then you swap the filter or clean it. Clean up the old gasket. Attach new gasket. Bolt back up, shouldn’t need much torque.
      The only thing is a bunch of fluid is still going to be in the torque converter. Unless the s14 has a drain plug for it, its probably a bigger job than you wanna do in your garage. Its still better than no new fluid, so I wouldn’t let that stop me from changing out the pan content.

      @@DmitrysGarage thanks for your words of wisdom I'm a bit worried my S14 suffers from that cold morning thing where when car is put in D it doesn't engage till tranny warms up only engages if put on 1st car has 230k on the odometer so I think after doing some research best thing is to just get my tranny rebuilt now just gotta find someone trustworthy and not some shop that will put cheap parts, btw did you hear the story about that 1997 Nissan 240sx with only 676 miles on it completely unmolested was kept in a living room supposedly it was put on Craigslist New York a while back you can read up on it on jalopnik.com

    • @DmitrysGarage
      @DmitrysGarage  6 років тому

      @@thenoid5131 Yea that's a lot of miles! I think that she might be done for, I doubt fluid (unless she's low, in which case add some!) is going to bring it to life. I also did read about that '97 240, what a crazy story!

    Wold you not recommend filling through gear selector hole?

    • @DmitrysGarage
      @DmitrysGarage  3 роки тому

      I would not recommend it unless you really just can't get a pump. The shifter fill method isn't unique to the 240SX and it is useful in a pinch. However, you run the risk of spilling oil inside the car and the risk of damaging trim pieces as you disassemble. You still have to get under the car to drain the oil. You still have to unfasten the fill plug to properly fill it to level. So you have to get under the car anyway. There really is no upside except not having to have a pump.

    • @tompwh
      @tompwh 3 роки тому +1

      @@DmitrysGarage Thank u for explaining that so well, think i will fill it through the gear selctor hole then i dont have a pump, I have just changed the gearbox anyway so the interior bits and gearstick have already been removed. I will remember to remove the fill plug to get the level right. Thanks for the help
