I'm just simply, genuinely so happy to be getting these doses of Lilly, just like before. One Vlog a day, enough for me to get through the day. Like small packets of motivation. I missed her.
I can't state enough how much I appreciate that you are so honest about how you're doing in these vlogs. It's a welcome reminder that it's not realistic for every day to be perfect and it is OKAY for not every day to be good and perfect. As someone who lives with depression and anxiety, your vlogs remind me that I have to take things one day at a time and take a second to let go of what I can't control. It really means the world to hear someone I look up to be open and honest about mental health, especially when I understand and know all too well so many of the things you talk about.
Hello! I'm a medical student (I'm in my 6th and last year of my degree) and concerning the period question, there are actually a lot of good options! Obviously, everyone is different so in picking which contraceptive you want, you have to keep in mind your preferences, your lifestyle and also, and very important, your medical background. My advice to you is to talk to your gynecologist, say you want to not have periods anymore and talk about which option is the best for you. Some of the good and safe options are oral contraceptives, IUDs, subcutaneous implants, etc.
Mirena IUS (intrauterine system) - it's birth control and stops your period, and is good for 5 years. It's an IUD that releases progesterone to your uterine environment and prevents the build-up of your uterine lining. I've had 3 now (changed every 5 years) and I personally highly recommend them. This may be TMI, but you asked for ideas - here is mine. Best wishes!
Lilly is on of the most inspirational people I have ever met and I can speak for most that we would be honoured to be half as good as she is. Thank you for being you and inspiring me to be better and humble every dam day.👏😁👍❤️
Sending you all the positive vibes and virtual hugs @lilly ... Your vlogs are just motivation pills for me everyday . It's already day 16 I can't believe it🥺🥺🥺
I’m on it too! I just started back in September to help my menstrual migraines and to stop my period bc I’m not cis. I hope it starts working soon tho I’m on day 24 of my period 😌
DEFINITELY talk to a doctor, but I know that in general there are different types of contraceptives that allow you skip periods altogether, and a lot of doctors can recommend various methods for people who have intense period cycles. I'm definitely not an expert on it, and it will definitely require some research, but there ARE safe ways of doing it as long as you talk to a doctor (and it'll most likely be in the form of contraceptives)
second this; according to my ob/gyn professor, periods are not something you have to have each month. i'm not a doctor (just a med student) but a good option to look into might be oral contraceptive pills. there are some risks and contraindications to taking them, so discuss them with your doctor to make sure you don't have the risk factors that predispose you to the really bad side effects. also some pills will still give you a "period" because they have a placebo week with no drug effects (the reason is because some people like to have a period happen to confirm that they're not pregnant). but other versions of the pills won't have that placebo week and you shouldn't have periods. and just to second OP, contraceptives aren't just for preventing pregnancy, they're also for people who have unbearable periods or people who just don't want them period (pun not intended) long story short, talk with an ob/gyn and ask specific questions about contraception.
Lilly, I got you. We're pushing through strong until the 23rd to wrap up that shooting before Christmas next week and I'm rooting for you all the way. And, just so you know, I placed my hand upon my laptop screen as if I were really holding your hand in that moment, haha. But, the character work you were doing really looked as if it was one of the more fun shoots you've had in awhile. And, you were serving up a ton of looks with this one. That wedding outfit idea of yours was a vibe, though. That's an entire vibe I would dig having the blessing to walk down such an aisle. Keep killing it with all of the preps for the show. You got this! I love you so much, Lilly
Great video as always love you lilly. I was watching the vlog with my dog and he licked the screen mid video. I think he loves you as much as I do. He watched the WHOLE THING.
Can we all appreciate ...that lily is literally glowing...I mean her face is beautiful and smooth like whipped cream with some choco chips Love yuh Lilly...❤️
The contraceptive pill (there’s lots of different options) usually stop your periods whilst you take them. It’s perfectly safe! Whilst most people refer to them as the ‘contraceptive pill’, not everyone uses them for contraceptive purposes. Some people used them to stop periods, regulate and control abnormally heavy bleeding etc,
Final year medical student here answering how to (maybe) stop periods in a healthy way- the Mirena coil is a great method of contraception and treatment for heavy periods, in many cases people's periods do stop. Its a intrauterine device and is good in the way that the hormones only have a local effect (in the uterus) and not systemically (effects on mood etc) like taking pills/injections can have. Like anything else, its not for everyone and please seek medical advice but its been great for me personally- no periods for me in the last 2 years :) As its gonna be a few months until I'm actually a doctor, please please ask your own lol
@lilly, check out LARCs, long-term contraceptives. Not pharmacist or MD, but done a lot of pharmacology and toxicology research. LARCs is constraceptive but also makes your period quarterly or yearly. Research also shows long-term use of LARCs reduces the risk of heart conditions, hypertension and clotting when reaching menopause. Search up for mayo clinic or John Hopkins articles on this.
Yes, low dose oral contraceptive can be taken multiple months continuously to suppress cycles, injections and implanon also do it but if you don't feel good on it can't change as easily as pill. Big deal is you must see and work with the MD.
I can empathize w/horrible periods. I also knew I didn't want kids. Had my tubes tied 4 yrs. ago, & the awful periods, crippling cramps, monthly $$$ were instantly a thing of the past: ceased after the procedure, & I've never regretted it! :)
Some other people have said this in the comments already, but I take oral birth control all month long (so year round then too) so I don't get my cycle. I've been doing it for about 4 years so far, and I have had no adverse reactions, and I have also had doctors tell me that there is no real reason you need to have your period each month, so as far as they know, it is okay to do this. I started on birth control because my anxiety is partly hormone related, so it was a necessity for me to stop it (in my eyes, so I didn't have to go on a prescription anxiety medication, and that's just something I didn't want to do). I hope you will be able to find something that works for you!
I'm a medical student and there are ways to not have a period. The safest method is the progesterone only pill and after 2 months (varies per person) and you won't get a period. But defos talk with your doctor and discuss the best option for you x
Hey Lilly! You could look into getting a hormonal IUD, which eventually stops your periods. I have Mirena, and I've been told it makes periods go away within 3-6 months!
Lilly you could always try an IUD. It’s a form of birth control that actually stops the period all together. Lol I’m no doctor so here’s what the internet says about IUD’s: An intrauterine device (IUD) is a little, t-shaped piece of plastic inserted into the uterus to provide birth control. The 3 types of IUDs that use the hormone progestin include Mirena, Skyla, and Liletta
A fellow doctor here, to reduce periods/make them go away - get the Mirena! It's a progesterone IUD and the hormones stay very local in the uterus instead of something like the pill :-)
I have an IUD and I get my period twice a year. For like a day each time. An hour of light cramps and a bit of spotting. Before even on the pill it was a week long ordeal every month, so much so that I used to pass out from the pain
For the periods thing you can take oral hormonal contraceptives (the pill) continuously and then only have the placebos every once in a while to have your period. From what I’ve seen / researched the endometrial lining doesn’t continue to build but just maintains until you take the placebo pills so there aren’t any serious negative effects except for the effects you would get on the birth control normally (some people have bad mood swings, bad acne, it can mess with pre existing anxiety + depression etc.) and return to normal ovulation/ fertility is pretty much instant as with taking the pill. However, it’s very important to talk to your doctor first before doing anything different with any medication
Also other birth control can stop periods for some people, such as the Depo shot and mirena coil (hormonal IUD) but for others periods may not change or may increase (on the depo shot about 1/3 experience no change, 1/3 lighter or no periods and 1/3 heavier or longer periods)
Estrogen blockers. Trans ftm or ftn people use it. Its safe for short term if your doctor monitors it. Also, you can try the IUD. Ask your licensed certified doctor first.
Get an IUD! I have mierna which stays in for 5 years and is the greatest! It's a bit painful going in (ask your doctor about taking a tylenol beforehand or using local anesthesia), but it is SO worth it!!!!! Totally safe, and I'm on my second one.
