I GIVE UP on Tyler Perry 😡 A RANT | Mea Culpa Mini-Review (Not an analysis)

- I really wish I could UNSEE Tyler Perry’s Mea Culpa, but its finally confirmed why I give up on supporting his work. Even with a #1 spot on Netflix, the movie shows Perry’s refusal to grow in his craft, choosing to continue with tired stereotypes again and again. So imma repeat myself, too: Representation matters, but only if its quality. And if he won’t give us quality representation, its up to us to stop supporting his work.

Thanks for 4K subs ya'll! Also, my earring is missing in this video lol that's how worked up Tyler got me 😆And for a legit movie breakdown here's Brittany aka @FortheNostalgia's review of Mea Culpa here: ua-cam.com/video/lez0s-P6R88/v-deo.html
Tiffany i dont know you and i dont know you depth of knowledge of black history but he isnt going to stop decimating the minds and psyche of black people because it directly benefits him as a billionaire to destroy black people who are poor in order to accrue more wealth for himself. This shit is obviously poison. Its like the pastor that will NEVER stop teaching you out of the same passages and never gets to the meat and potatoes of the bible, and im not talking about revelation.
I believe he wants to be the next Oprah, disgustingly rich and not necessarily famous. He has the language for the black women's story and struggle. The sooner you are understanding of that you can move on and get together with some black folk and start building some comp0unds or houses or whatever, stock up those supplies etc. The rent prices are going to keep going up, the groceries are going to keep going up, the climate will get worse and there will be another pandemic this election year and people will be displaced, art is being destroyed by ai and peoples faces are going to be used in media, regular people who didn't know they consented to it.
I say that because to destroy the psyche of men and women by destroying the imagination of people and replacing it with ai is to stifle their imagination for a better future. This is a concerted effort to destroy the black community through dumb ass debates over sex and sexuality discourse and fuckin respectability politics which he obviously props up, while they roll out these laws which restrict freedoms more and more as black folk are distracted with the SAME ARGUMENTS, and this hypothesis you have is correct but you seem like youre hopeful that he would be turned in his opinion to think differently if he had the range and i assure you they have the range. He is BEING PAID TO PURPOSELY DESTROY THE BLACK COMMUNITY FOR MONEY.
THE BOOK OF CLARENCE...AND WE LET IT FLOP!!SMH
you just said you knew it's a sexual thriller then say you don't like to watch it? lol
I'm saying this as I'm still in the middle of watching this video, THANK YOU! I am crying out of relief that it's just not me that gets stuff like this stuck in my head. Thank you so much for addressing it.
No name calling but you are one of them people it's a reason why there is no black people in power in the movie industry because you're not your own instead of supporting but you'll go around and your support anything nasty or anything violent that a white person will make your sad
We should all move on from Tyler at this point 😆
OKAYYYY
Indeed
I lost my patience YEARS ago. His movies were turning ME into a Mad Black Woman! 🤣
Tyler and I could not be seated close at dinner party together in 2024😆 (as if😏). I would surely be kicked out and cancelled👌🏾

Yessss please 🙏 black people are more than truama!!!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤ Let's show how much bigger they are!!!!🎉❤
After seeing that movie all I can say is Tyler Perry saying he’s the only person in his writing room is NOT the flex he thinks it is 😒

It sure isn't
Haha, it's not! So true!
That part. U need to get some folks around u bruh

WE NEED MEANINGFUL REPRESENTATION ❤
we do!
What’s your favorite movie?
One of my absolute favorite movies is “imitation of life” which is a film from the 1950s. It tackles so many issues of race, gender, and ambition in a way that is thought-provoking and progressive, especially for its time. It’s a bit melodrama because it is the 50s, but it is one of my favorite films of all time.
If we are affected by what we eat, we are affected by what we hear, see, smell and feel. We consume regardless of how it enters ourselves.
THIS 👆🏾
What was the last black movie with a big budget that didn’t involve drugs, guns, crime, violence, or sex? When was the last time we had a big budgeted wholesome movie that promotes a healthy lifestyle for the black community.
Maybe Hidden figures?
Coming To America for one and that was way back in 1988. Then we had a great period on the late nineties and early 2000s where we had so many great films with Black casts that werent about the struggle or about the hood. Films like Love Jones, The Best Man, Love & Basketball, The Brothers, Deliver us From Eva, Soul Food, Two Can Play That Game etc. All films that showed us as multidimensional human beings with jobs, love and relationship issues, friendship and families etc. For more recent examples over the past decade or so we had great films like Just Wright, Think Like A Man and Hidden Figures.
Black Panther? Well..nevermind lol
Soul food
Moonlight.. it was a love story
“ basement version of 50 Shades” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
listen, that was giving it too much credit
The main actor in Fifty Shades hates talking about it now
@@TiffanyByrdHarrison 😆 girl. I loved this
I read this comment just as it was stated 😂
I heard 50 shades is a terrible movie also 😂 but yeah, Mea Culpa was a really bad movie.

“It enters us” is such a powerful and sobering perspective! 🙌🏾Thank you for sharing.
I appreciate you watching Natasha!

Toilet paper. This!!!!
Wow... now that's one interesting alias 😂😂😂
Yeah me too! He's making us look bad in everything he does.
As soon as I heard you speak, all I could tell God was “thank you”. I wanted to watch this movie but for some reason, the Lord urged me not too. And as someone who used to watch porn, hearing the reviews has made me aware that this movie wouldn’t feed my spirit but my flesh. And as a new creation in Christ, I can’t go back. Thank you for your transparency and honesty with this video!
this is exactly why I do these videos! thank you for sharing and grateful for the freedom you have in Christ! you used wisdom and I pray that increases!
Amen your perspective is VALID. the devil is still a liar!! And that movie is satanic.
And to your point I don’t even think the flesh would be happy with this one by the reviews I’m seeing. It sound disturbing.
The Lord said so…
I totally agree with the importance of not fueling our minds with negative images and also being careful about what we listen to as well.
I'm not a therapist, but I truly feel like after watching this movie it helps reflect his own emotional, mental, and spiritual health. We deserve better.
i agree completely
TP was bragging about his _'work ethic,'_ posting ALL the scripts/shows that he wrote *himself.* He's proud to do everything himself and refuses to hire legit directors, writers, producers, & stylists. The result is that he impedes himself with the same, tired, errors: over-the-top caricatures, cringe dialogue, silly wigs/hairhats, and a 'lifetime-esque' vibe to ALL his projects. *He knows his audience: black folks who don't know any better.*
The FX show ATL made fun of TP and his "will fix it in post" work ethic. How does he get a big movie studio in Atlanta is beyond me.
That's his excuse. We do know better, most people are on to TP, only a few just blindly support his nonsense. But for him, apparently it's enough for him to continue being a one man show.
when he talks about AI threatening jobs, he has to be talking about his job as a writer. as much as i am anti AI, at this point I'm sure it can do a better job writing than TP.
@tlapace this is a man who got popular by making a play putting on a 👗 and using a 🔫 to act like the stereotypical blackwoman. we can't be surprised why he got so successful
THIS..... Great point!
Im convinced that Tyler Perry writes the same movie concepts worded in different ways then draw them out of a hat to decide each of his movies' storylines
now THAT is a movie I would watch “Tyler picks his next movie” 😂
*rummages around in hat*
T: no madea, no madea, big bucks, THIS ONE!

@TiffanyByrdHarrison actually lemme copyright this idea before Tyler sees it 💡 🤣 and call it "Wash, Rinse, Repeat "

This is what happens when everything is Directed by TP, Written by TP, everything by TP. There needs to be other Writers and Directors on TP production’s. It seems when there is the movie is like night & day whenever other Director’s or writers ✍🏽 are on his production.
I thought I read somewhere Tyler P. complaining he has difficulty getting "A" list talent to star in projects. This movie is an example of why. Established actors take their work seriously and are very discerning as to what projects the align themselves. Those trying to build a body of work want QUALITY as well. I wish Tyler would just hire himself a team of writers and be executive producer. Then he could sit back, take notes and learn a few things.
that’s a great callout! established actors do try to be strategic on their part to align with their career goals but tyler doesn’t know much about building quality works so you’re absolutely right.
I gave up on Tyler Perry decades ago. He let his agenda be known from the very beginning, and I couldn't support it
you are so right! i was definitely hoping for something that was not evidenced
I really didn't see it. I thought oh he is making us laugh, but the shows that he has put out has been very shocking and degenerative. I am not a fan anymore.
degenerative is a great word to describe it
@@TiffanyByrdHarrison if.....if......this dude in the same league as the megachurch pastor that bought the jet from him, I would be careful on even _listening to his crap_
We really need to have more black filmmakers out there and actually try to take risks.
His movies are redundant & unrealistic. He needs to hire some writers. I really rooted for him in the beginning even though his work was corny. I expected him to do better but I don’t think he’s even trying… he’s pushing another agenda these days so I’m done! 🤦🏽♀️
he’s not trying at all!
You are definitely right like I said he's writing is getting darker this is the same man who wrote a family that prays imagine the difference
As a Latino man…I see a lot of parallels to how we are portrayed as well. There’s the immigrant story, the New York latino scene, and Chicano gang narratives…with not too much different in between
We as an audience have to hold these creatives accountable by no longer supporting tired and false narratives about our cultures
FACTS!!💯
Trevante and Kelly could have worked as two romantic leads starring in a movie without Tyler Perry’s hand in it 🫠.
that would have been way better!
PERIODT ‼️‼️‼️
I wish Tyler Perry would throw his smut stories and start telling Christian stories. He claims to be a Christian why can't he do it.
I agree with you. I decided I wanted better for myself and stopped watching TP movies.
His movies are actually depressing when you really think about it.
“Entertainment enters you” 🤔 that’s friggin’ profound and I will never forget that.
when you look at it like that.. it changes your whole perspective about these things
We are so influenced by entertainment as Americans, especially us. I've been saying this about music forever. We invite these low vibrations into our psyche. Some music/movies/games have become overtly sexual or violent...life imitates art, I'd say...
That was very deep!
The word “entertainment” literally means “detained for entry”
SAME.
The moment you brought up the FACT that TP has not invested in the next generation of filmmakers is when I hit the subscribe button LOL! Right on, right on, right on! He actually should be ten times bigger than what he is by way of paving the way for other filmmakers to make their films under his banner. OR - since he can turn out a new script in 48hrs he can hand it off to these young cats out here that can really turn his ideas into something more than what he's doing. It took me four sittings to get through the film. I thought it had some nice set dressing and a lot of good looking people. But that's about all the good I can say. For this to be an erotic 'thriller' it is short on thrills or any real tension of any kind. I never once felt that Trevante was under any pressure involving this bs case against him. I could go on. But the primary problem is that TP is the king of his own castle and nobody around him can check him on his creative decisions. And thus everything he does feels like a first draft because... it is. I actually though Acrimony was decently entertaining, but then he drove off a cliff with Fall From Grace. But even that had more merit than Mea Culpa (he thinks he's so clever with these titles lol). I think he should just stick to comedies and maybe straight dramas but stay away from thrillers. Because the genre requires a level of craft that he clearly isn't interested in cultivating.
you said so many great points! I agree, the cinematography, and the color grading actually came a very long way for a Tyler Perry film, I enjoyed that part, but that was pretty much it.
you are absolutely right about the title, too, I think he really thought he was doing something artistic with that !
thanks for subscribing, I appreciate you for your thoughts, and I would love to hear what you think about our live stream conversation-if you can make it, come on through 🙏🏾
The fact that he (almost adamantly I'm starting to feel) has not invested in the future of any other black filmmakers all this time honestly has me slowly starting to contemplate the big 'C' word........ CONSPIRACY. I mean, this dude really does paint Black women in a pretty bad light. What was one of the few films outside of his own he personally produced? Precious. He is a lot of people in our communities token success story and no matter how low quality the material he produces is they will steadfastly refuse to let anyone talk bad about this man. I don't know, I'm starting to call foul on it all.
@@dawb86 🗣️you speaking some truth though!!! it feels targeted now.
@@dawb86I agree it does feel like something is going on conspiratorially, but with him I think it’s much simpler. Like our host said in the video he serves a particular audience that doesn’t hold him accountable to a higher standard. And unfortunately there’s more of ‘them’ than there are of ‘us’.
I think he has never (or to date) invested in the next generation of writers is fear. Fear that someone would be greater than him.
I’m christian. Snd i just came across your channel. I looove the way you worded the intro where you said the media doesn’t care what it feeds you. I always try to explain to people you are what you eat in the spiritual realm as well. I wont watch rated R movies, movies with sex, drugs etc. even though im 29. People always question me why and I think you explained it so well
I received what was said about protecting the ear and eye gates.
Y'all have to understand that TP has sold out to the god of this world. He's not going to make better films because the garbage he's making is by design. His trash is designed to keep his viewers and supporters bogged down in carnality. He hasn't made anything Christ-centered in AGES. If ever, really. Even Madea blatantly cussed whereas before it was hinted.
I don't watch anything TP makes. Full stop.

His work hasn’t evolved at all and he doesn’t have to care because he knows black people are going to support him anyway.
PERIODT. Thank you for the TLDR of this video! 👏🏾
He can't evolve when the first screenplay draft is the only draft written for the project. He writes, directs, and produces everything. He needs a writing team. He refuses to mentor and work with other black artists and talent who can write for him.
Please don't say all black people.....I noticed his same plot of music 2 decades ago!

Stop saying black people it black females
So I just watched the movie; did anyone else notice the interior of that restaurant where the family gathered in celebration of the her Nothing-in- laws birthday? It was huge with very high ceilings like a dome and beautiful aesthetics, but when they came outside to say their goodbyes, the exterior of that same restaurant is just a small plain stage prop made out of cardboard. Come on TP!😂😂
I cannot watch this movie again, but I am cackling at the cardboard 😂😂 classic TP

I feel the same way you do that’s why I always fast forward through scenes like that because I can’t stand seeing that in movies.
He's only taking advantage of people who refuse to educate themselves. He's not taking advantage of real authentic Christians.
That's a GREAT point. Thank you for the distinction!
Thank you for mentioning this. I've been calling out Tyler Perry for years, but the usual response is "doesn't the Bible say 'don't judge'?!" Some refuse to see the point.
Wrong. Any human being can be taken advantage of.
I honestly don't think there are real Christians in Hollywood.
@@MsAdreaL “I send you among wolves in sheep clothing” words Jesus spoke to his own disciples. So, yes no one is invincible from the warfare.
🙋🏾♂️ He's come along way from his "gospel" plays. But men on stage with no shirt on was a red flag then.
THAT PART
Very true
I'm shook! Like how did we go from cleaner Madea movies to this 😢
tyler's movies/plays have all been pretty simple but gave you the feel of a Sunday evening after church at big mama's house. It gave the feel of family, struggle, love and joy. The simplicity of clean, edgy fun.....every movie, every play has gotten a little more worldly and perverted.... He has become a literally a big disappointment to the black community because we expected and deserved better.
Thank you so much for discussing how what we watch and listen to implants itself in us. It opens us up to things we shouldn’t know and don’t want to know. It’s similar to how people who open that door to watching “corn” leads down a path of more and more graphic content, because the dopamine hit wears off and pushes you to seek more to get that same feeling. It took me way too long to realize how much the content I was consuming was affecting me. I’m so happy you’re sharing this!!
Thank you for resonating!
I agree with you. All I could think is if my teenage cousins were watching this movie, they would think "This is the way I should act as a young black male/female." It was truly disgraceful. I can't simply blindly support someone due to the color of their skin. I was shocked that the actors/actresses agreed to the script...
i was, too! so valid, I don’t want young people to see this at all and think this is good.
As a black romance writer, I'm always aware of how I write black characters. We need representation in all creative areas, but we also need good representation. I went into this movie hoping it would be something new and different and my mind was working on where I thought the plot would go. There were so many plot holes and things that didn't make sense that I was embarrassed for this film. I loved Rhodes in Moonlight and Birdbox and these show what good writing can do for a good actor. TP didn't do them any favors.
so agreed!
Apparently there's better writing in one of those Kiwani books from Mills and Boon than a Tyler Perry movie.
You have a new sub! I do agree on guarding your eyes and ears. I realized that when I get my toes done - I am always drawn to a shade of pink (I almost always go pink) that I was exposed to the same day or prior - it started to happen on a subconscious level but now in aware and chuckle.
And this is just nail polish color were talking about .. so imagine music or movies
Tyler Perry has zero respect for the black community.

When i saw the s** dungeon scene I literally said what in the fifty shades of grey is going on 😂🤣
SEE?! My initial reaction was shock, I had no idea that’s where this was going but okkkk
Yeah that was unnecessary. It served no purpose
I didn’t have a problem with the s3x club. It sort of makes sense if the guy’s character was about an artist who has a lot of women and uses them as s3xual objects. My issue was the way they made it seem like this s3x club was located in the basement of his building. Like they literally walked downstairs. No driving, nothing. Made no sense 😂
I made peace that I wouldn't watch it. I would just listen to reviews from those who watched it 😂. Based on ya'lls reviews, glad I didn't bother!
It’s important to be particular with what you invite in through your social media, music, movies/tv. We are sponges and absorb everything no matter the liquid, so really be conscious and intentional about it.

I inadvertently found your channel and you are doing a great work. I subscribed immediately! I remember about 2015 -2016 I saw snippets of Tyler’s movies and concluded it’s not for me or my household. As a father, my son was in high school at the time and I said there will be no watching of Tyler Perry movies in this house. And I explained using some of your reasons. Thank you. I agree with everything you said! Criticizing Tyler feels like a crime sometimes! I hate when people give the same argument of "well he's giving black people jobs"! Okay that's great but does that mean we just have to accept the crap that he's giving us??!! Another one that I hate is "well start your own studio and make the movies you want"! We definitely deserve more reviews like this one. Normalize necessary critique. In order for artists to grow they may need a weeding out. Tyler needs this, someone to hold him accountable while also appreciating his former contributions. It’s exhausting to see him scramble for plots by pulling from what is already existing. It’s exhausting to see him fail in his executions of those same plots.
Good on you for not being afraid to challenge black art. ❤
I agree with you. Unfortunately Tyler Perry doesn't have an incentive to improve the writing quality of his scripts. He has his loyal fans who eat up whatever he puts out. They praise him no matter what. They also will call you a "hater" if you make any criticism about Tyler Perry. At this point, when I see Tyler's name attached to a movie I know that I'm most likely about to watch a bad film. I either keep my expectations very low or don't watch the movie at all.
That's a great POV to have. I definitely expected more...the trailer almost looked legit. I was wrong, and I think you nailed it!
Yep. Just like McDonald’s isn’t going out of business and won’t respond to any criticism unless the law or profit loss forces them to. For example, I think there’s bun ingredients they can’t legally serve in the UK, but they still do it in the US.
When I read he was doing a movie on the all black female WW2 Army postal unit, I posted these same comments.
I've felt this way when he was just doing plays. Then, DMBW came out. That was pretty good but everything else except For Colored Girls was not so good. Even when i shared my discontent during his play, it was not received well. I learned that some of us are emotional attached to celebrities and will fight to uphold even the lowest of our race.
yes, I think they call that para social relationships, when we are emotionally connected to celebrities, who could care less about us.
I feel the same way. I'm a Christian and wanted to give Mea Culpa a go. My jaw hit the floor. I had NO idea all that soft corn was in it. If I knew, I wouldn't have watched it.
I was REALLY thrown off. It just didn't make sense.
I totally agree. We need to change the narrative of movies for our children to show them positive people who look like them in movies. They see enough of this smut on the corner or live it in their life. They already have an opinion because these people are either in the family, on the corner, or in their circle

Tiffany, I love your POV on this movie. You come across very knowledgeable, smart, and well spoken! It’s so refreshing. I agree with everything you’ve said. Great video. Subscribed!
wow! thank you for the kind words, Yvette! I’m grateful.
Congratulations on 4k subscribers! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 You did an excellent job on this commentary. I parked at the meter when you said "there will always be an audience for garbage."
We just finished watching the movie American Fiction. Very good movie.
The author just wanted to write good literature. Yet in a capitalistic society, its always about what the reader wants and how much people will pay to read "smut".
I watched Mea Culpa. I fast forwarded through a few scenes. I thought some parts were good but definitely predictable. I agree, Tyler Perry COULD do better, but he is appealing to an audience who likes the smut. 🤷🏾♀️
thank you!! 😊 I definitely loved American fiction, that was a really strong movie and some thing that I should do a breakdown over.
First of all thank you for spearing me, i added to my list but im def not watching it. Second, girl u nailed it. Loved the way you speak ur mind so easily and clearly, with deep and interesting ideas and arguments, inviting us to think about the subject. Awesome job!!
i appreciate that so much!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
* We have to make more films to balance out or fade the noise of films as such
* Support great independent films (some are playing at major festivals runs)
* Produce your own. Issa Rae started on UA-cam now look at her!
* Stop marketing films you do not like including calling them out
* Financially support indie filmmakers particularly Faith based so they can produce more and skill level progresses
* Tyler is one of the very few paying black actors above Hollywood pay scale which equate to his access to great star power
* 34 Street Films is his production company where he produce indie filmmakers
* Tyler has a cult audience beyond black folks therefore, he's not going anywhere!
I gave up on this too. I was quite disappointed in it. I really hope that Mr. Perry hires a writing team to do his future work. We need a range in our representation that goes beyond the stereotypes.
I REALLY hope he does hire a writing time- it would be nice to see him progress in some way.
I just came across your channel. I appreciate what you said in this video. My wife and I have been feeling the same way about Tyler P for a few years now. We don't see the Christian Values in any of his recent projects, and we refuse to watch it. In the position that he is he can influence thousands toward Christ, but the influence is for self pleasure and other sinful natures that don't benefit the soul.
Thank you
The “Christian” label seems to be just that, a label for TP. In the earlier days, I think there was intended to be something redemptive about it but now, it’s clear that doesn’t serve his agenda so he’s moved on from it. it’s very hedonistic.
AMEN we need to see more black filmmakers taking risks.
Mea Culpa was basically a higher than usual budget Tubi movie. I'm embarrassed for Kelly Rowland.
Exactly what I said!!!
It's tiring seeing a hyper sexual movie and constant women abuse
me too!
Tyler didn't put Idris Elba on the map.
THAT WOULD BE THE WIRE LIL SIS.
100%!! lol that’s why i said the caveat
Chile 😂 Tyler strikes again 🎉 the acting was horrible, script a mess and confusing and I beleive its another thing they put in our faces in Holly-hood to show what they really do behind closed doors and Kelly with the mess too 😆 the scene she watched him with the white lady then proceeded to kiss him and they jumped on his bike without him showering first 👀🤢 I had to go pray 🙏 Lord get Tyler Perry 💀
OMG I had to turn it off at that point, it was tew much 😩 no trigger warning or nuthin
I was like sanitation right out the door 😂 . Hot mess
🤢🤢🤢
I’m glad people are holding the people that create these movies accountable, but we also have to hold the artists accountable, Kelly doesn’t have to participate.
I'm glad I came across your channel and I just got done watching that movie and I wholeheartedly agree with you.... I was already saying some of the same things right before I ran across your channel...... But you broke it down better than I surely could... I'm definitely subscribing to you. God Bless you Sistah 💖❤️🖤
thank you for being here and subscribing!
Great video and completely agree with you how disappointing it is to see Tyler Perry refuse to evolve his filmmaking after all these years. I do think hes actually a negative to black entertainment at this point.
That being said, i am at least happy to see Kelly Rowland again. She was always my personal fav in Destiny's Child and last time i saw her was way back in 'Freddy vs Jason' in the early 00s.
she’s stunning! i agree, it’s incredible to see her out and centered. But yeah, it’s frustrating to see his work devolve.
I appreciate you for watching!
What's up Sailor Mercy? 😃
She is cute I would like to cast her in my Biblical epic about the widow Elijah helped.
Great conversation! We should be mindful of what enters our ear and eye gate.
Okay, so, I have a question. I have spent the past 10 minutes googling cornography and I'm still not sure what it is. Is it some kind of substitute word for ppoorrnn?
Never mind. I figured it out 🙂
lol 😂 you had it!
@@TiffanyByrdHarrison With a little tenacity I knew I’d figure it out sooner or later.😆
Spike Lee had often criticised Perry’s impact in the movie industry...and now I see why.
He was correct the whole time
This is a great conversation to have right now and I agree that something needs to be done. We keep talking black unity but again why isn’t he employing real writers, and like you mentioned why aren’t they all together trying to figure out how to build a network for us instead of leaning on others to make or distribute.
we GOTS to be more careful with who we support and if White Producers can get it for making stereotypes of Black people, than Black Producers can get it, too. We gotta keep the same energy all the way around.
Hi, new subscriber here! I just came from watching the live that you and Brittanny did together on her channel. You two have a great dynamic, and I can't wait to catch up on some of your videos. I gave up on Tyler Perry years ago; can't even remember the last movie I saw. I appreciate you commentary on what "entertainment" has become. There's nothing wrong with escape sometimes, but I think we as audiences should expect more from what we choose to consume.
Thanks for watching the live and coming through! I completely agree and think that you nailed the point of the channel!
He had Becky’s juices on his lips and tongue and Mea had no problem tasting it.
ugh 🤢🤢🤢
as a new subscriber that’s revisiting your channel sometime after seeing you, there’s a certain serenity to how clear this was. and it was so relieving to hear someone speak on this that craves growth from tyler perry! great video!
Everything you’ve said is just 👏👏👏 finally someone speaking the truth. Every single point and argument is spot on. Definitely subscribed. Love this analysis ❤❤
thank you for subbing and being likeminded! 🙌🏾
Firstly, a huge congratulations on 4K!!!🥳🙌🏼Super excited & happy for you!!☺️👏🏼I totally agree, it’s so important what we watch & listen to; what we feed our soul with. (Philippians 4:8) I watched it last night & was shocked at some of the scenes. Realistically, I don’t see most women ‘getting with’ someone who just had someone else on them lol.👀🫣😣You nailed it with calling it trash.💯👊🏼But I did enjoy some aspects like the suspenseful discovery of the ‘other women’ portraits & the crazy ending. (And Mea’s wardrobe lol.) But honestly, I strongly don’t like TP- especially after hearing Monique’s recent interview. Keep up the stellar content!🤩😘
thank you monica!!! it’s so so important and i’m with you, it makes me so sad to see him do this over and over!
I didn’t watch it because I saw it was by Tyler Perry. I’m so tired of sex drugs and crime on tv and in movies. We are so much more and I want to see that displayed.
You hit the nail on the head with every word, and yes, you gave a very nice version of your honest opinion, but we live in a society of evil that doesn't respond to nice so well, they either just don't hear you or they just don't care to. I think about how growing up, my Mother was like a Drill Sargent, when she said something and told you what you need to do, you heard her the first time and you damn sure did what she said do, but I know parents that talk soft and try to be so empathetic when disciplining, and it almost never goes well with the child, they either ignore the parent or they totally act as if they said absolutely nothing at all. So my point is: I heard you say how Tyler Perry does the same thing over and over, and that's the mentality of an undisciplined child, as long as you don't knock fire from their asses, they'll keep on doing the same thing over and over again.
Very solid and well executed analysis and delivery!! As a Christian I really enjoyed the spiritual perspective of your video. I was over this guy at the second Madea movie lol. Saying you are doing it for the culture and for black people, while using the same stereotypes that plague us to this day is insane to me. The frightening thing as you so rightly pointed out is that he has the financial means to continue to produce such movies. Nevertheless...new subscriber, I look forward to more of your content!
Thank you so much, Nica! glad you're here!!
I want black writers and producers to start making black horror movies, where blacks folks don't get unalived right when the movie starts, like it was back in the day 😂😂😂.
TP knows his audience. My mom loved this movie 🎬. She's his target audience. 50, 60, 70+ black women.
Love your commentary here on Tyler Perry and his work as a filmmaker. I have been saying your exact words for years now.
Not a fan of anything he has created. Fast food everyday isn’t good.
T.P.’s work is Wendy’s / Burger King at best.
We might as well fast.
going hungry and better for it
As I saw you speak on what enters your eyes and ears I knew I had to subscribe! These are not just movies, and I’m happy many are aware.
thank you for subscribing! Genuinely appreciate that
Idris didn't become more recognized by being in TP films, The Wire is what brought Idris to forefront in Black American films.
I agree with you sis. When I saw the movie I thought to myself "what the hell, Tyler...this is trash"!!
I've been saying this to people. Your children can be influenced by these toxic dramas sometimes. How they respond in relationships and arguments can mimic what they see in these toxic shows. We need more Hallmark movie themed Black characters. What show would you want to be a character in?
that’s a great question, Missy! I’m not seeing a ton of opportunities in current shows, but I have ideas of stories I’d like to create and have on film that i’m actively working on! i love stories of people who no one expects to get out of their circumstances that do.
@TiffanyByrdHarrison I want to see Black people move to from the city and fall in love with farm life. Or have problems willing their successful business to their next generation without killing. Representation matters.
Thank you for having an intellectual discussion about Tyler and this movie. It was really bad.
I fully understand Tiffany everything you have articulated. I watched the trailer and was excited to watch Kelly Rowland act for the first time. I was literally just waiting till I could watch the film on my own without my children. I had no idea it was going to be simlar to Five shades of grey.
After watching your video, I have decided not to waste my time watching the TP film.
Thank you my sister.
I believe we also need to start looking at these black actors.
It starts with them, why would Kelly Rowland ( with who she is ) decide to do a movie like this and not think about the repercussions?
She read the script and thought what?
Just my thought's 🤔
Luke 12:48 NLT
[48] But someone who does not know, and then does something wrong, will be punished only lightly. When someone has been given much, much will be required in return; and when someone has been entrusted with much, even more will be required. 🙏🏾
4:22 - You are absolutely 💯 correct. Because we base great acting on the actor/actress on being able to make us FEEL something. And escape reality.
Media is also PROGRAMMING.
