I've had the Prime 4 since it first came out and I believe I was the first one if not one of the first ones to get it here in Dallas,Texas after patiently waiting for Denon DJ to release it since the March 2019 deadline kept getting pushed back later throughout that year until around Sept./Oct...... with that being said,I was beyond surprised at the miles of features they packed into this unit and still today we get updates and more added features and this thing is truly a standalone in that you don't need a laptop if you don't want to lug it around..... to me..... the only other thing that can beat it..... is its predecessor..... the latest Denon DJ PRIME 4+...... after seeing your review on both of these wonderful machines...... it's clear no-brainer that the best bang for your buck is in the PRIME 4..... especially since the opus cost almost double and has less features..... even today with the latest firmware version on the PRIME 4(version 3.4.0) the effects on it should be very close if not better then the opus..... just seems unfair to the pioneer faithful to spend THAT MUCH MONEY on a piece of dj hardware with less features than one if it's competitors and one that's almost 3 or 4 years older than the opus during the time of your good review💯💯💯💯👍👍👍
If the OPUS was the same price as the Prime 4, I could see a future where after many updates to catch it up to what the Prime 4 can do, perhaps it would compete. Otherwise at 50% more money for less features, its definitely a rip off at this point. You'd just be buying into the "Hype" and brand name.
Denon Dj have everything we need. additional good things are updates which is free and giving you new features. For me pioneer a little bit to expensive. Bring now beat jump what was long time in denon. Nothing except look going on pioneer side. I think I will stay for longer with my Denon. Really happy with it 😊
What's up DJ Marco, and thanks for watching. I agree with everything you said. If I were to be fiercely critical of the Prime 4, I would like to see better FX execution (I'd like to see paddles like on the DJM-S7) and full-size jog wheels. Thanks for the comment and please subscribe.
Denon is few years upfront, but of course Pioneer drive the clubs and until the clubs owners will change the equipment take years. Pioneer just good layout and effects, in rest very high price for plastic equipments. I own both brands from Denon DN-2000F in 1992 to Pioneer cdj-3000, all their clubbing equipments last 30 years, Denon is much better build, already few years before Pioneer wifi and various storage options including internal SSD alongside dozens of updates listening the customers side. Keep going Denon DJ.
What's up Frank and thank for watching. It matters to some. I am a long time Pioneer user and still have several pieces of their equipment, but began looking at other innovative brands like Denon. Pioneer was the 'New Kids' in the early 2000's. I gave them a try and glad I did, just like when I made the move to Denon several years ago. Please subscribe :)

@@DJGlashammer Thank you for watching and for your comments. 2500€ in Germany? WOW! How much for the Opus? I agree with you about Pioneer's reliability. I have never had a failure on any piece of Pioneer equipment. Denon DJ is pushing the envelope when in comes to technology, and with that they have had some issues. For me, none of those issues have caused me any major problems during a gig. What I like about Denon DJ is that they listen to the feedback from consumer and respond to consumer request's (the Sampler feature was suggested on their forum and it was implemented in the latest firmware release). @@DjVloggers Yes, right 2500 € currently It started at €1800 The Opus Quad currently €3299 - €3499 As I said before, I'm absolutely with them. What about the Opus Quad is standard? The word 'Pioneer' on it? Literally nothing else on it is standard, though. New proprietary database system required. Pioneer's never done 4 layers before. Hot cue triggers are new buttons. Jog is different. Shape is different. Color scheme is different. Preview function is different. Not even the cueing system is the same.
Good job. Also, Denon DJ Prime can read traditional Rekordbox and Engine DJ playlists and databases. Opus Quad can't read either and requires an entirely new database. Opus Quad lacks a split cue hardware button or switch. Opus Quad firmware has better sound quality with extended treble and lower aliasing & IMD, but if you think Pioneer DJ is too pristine and not enough grime & 'warmth' added to your sound, then maybe Prime is for you. As you've already said, Prime 4 is cheaper, but it also has a better community on the forum.
It's kind of like buying a car. There are people who wants a car with all the best technological gadgets you can think of built into it and there are people who wants a car that is familiar and will deliver a great driving experience.
SCREEN: Graphic / Fonts and the Spotify standard view of the Prime 4 is much better than the old graphic design of Pioneer with old fonts and without a parallel view of playlist and tracks.
Engine DJ is Desktop software, doesnt have FX. Engine OS is performance software for all Denon DJ standalone units. Wait for new firmware 3.1.0 (coming soon). Will have Huge huge improovements for FX, on the all standalone units. It will be big, (mega improvements) and the effects will be much much better than before. (included touch FX in all prime standalone systems and single players). Even better than Pioneer DJ gears.
@@djmartinsk sure maybe in the future, but they got a mountain to climb. pioneer effects are DAW level good, dare I say even better. u know something, I actually bought the prime 4. had it for just under a month. effects sounded crap, no active loops etc. etc.... and for me as a mobile dj, I just cant wait for a (soon to be better with update) to decide the quality of my sound. keep in mind this was 2 years ago, and till this day didn't improve. Denon or engine or whatever just keep focusing on adding features that Pioneer don't have, problem is that they are attempting that without nailing the fundamentals. so am glad I didn't wait to return it. and get my pioneer. anyways cheers my brah!!✌
Second rate effects, Engine db issues, and half assed implementation of streaming (no way to sort without a crazy rekordbox to lexicon then back to engine workaround) are really making the Pioneer look good to me. Granted Pioneer has to still demonstrate competence when it comes to streaming service integration but at least there is a simple (but paid) workaround via rekordbox cloud streaming. Note I started on Pioneer, then moved to Denon with the release of Prime 4 so have experienced both sides. As a side note, it seems to me Denon has a similar approach to Tesla when it comes to development. This leads to the release of many fun, exciting and innovative features however on the flip side many features remain in a beta state and priorities are all over the place as well as timelines on deliverables. At the end of the day I have little interest in paying a company for a product so I can spend my time doing QA (at this rate I am seriously considering starting an open source project, time permitting).
As a Prime 4 user I'm actually not really regretting my purchase, but I would've rather stuck with Pioneer if they didn't have the shortage. My story with Denon has been quite unreliable. My unit has already been sent in for repair and it isn't even a year old yet. Since the new 3.0 update my streaming quality has gone down significantly. Like you said, the FX on Pioneer is just better overall. I find that the Echo and the Reverb aren't as smooth or clean sounding as on Pioneer. But the new 3.0 update has also brought in samples that I already use on the regular. But if you're planning on buying any 2 of these I would save up a bit more and go for the Opus Quad. I'm not that amazed by the Prime 4 as I would've hoped to be.
I have not use pioneer latest product but at a glance the prime 4 is the better all round unit / I an totaly please with my prime 4,/ at that price i would purchase another one / it is ahead of its time only bluetooth is missing / after using it it is hard to go back to pioneer / i also had others that was good but p4 is the best yet
I love the features on the prime 4 but the build quality doesn't feel as good as any pioneer kit I have played on. I have a prime 4 in my 28 years of djing it's the only kit I have managed to easily snap off an upfader. I'm sticking with the prime 4. I can't justify paying that much more money for the opus
So glad I waited for this. Opus Quad all day, every day! PS: great review!!! I, too, love the looks. But I know not everyone does. I def prefer it to the Prime I actually haven’t bothered with a Denon device since their dual CD players back in the early 2000s. Denon design is just “too busy” for my taste. And now with the Opus Quad out, I feel like Denon design in general is too bland and square for me. The only thing that would make me consider Denon over Pioneer at this point would be stems on the hardware. Whoever lands that feature wins!
Pioneer is so disappointing lately 😢 reminds me of the downfall of many other brands that rest on their success. Tides are turning 🎉 yay for DJs and more choice ❤
