That's amazing, he was an amazing drummer, never seen him live because I wasn't even born yet, but I've seen Halloween live in my country last summer, amazing concert with my 3 favourite singers
Amazing song, amazing lineup, AMAZING SINGER! I like Deris and he write some great songs.......but damn I miss Kiske! And also Kai Hansen!! Kai and Weikath were really great songwriters and they complement each other very well. Kai with the raw power metal style, and Weikath with his darker sound and atmospheric sadness. Ingo had this destructive style on the drums, that non of the replacements have been able to copy. He was simply the best 🙏 Grosskopf might be one of the best bass players in the world, only surpassed by Steve Harris and a few others. And then there was Kiske who is, along with Bruce Dickinson, the best vocalist on the planet ✨
Michael Kiske's voice has something unique..kai hansen also has a unique voice.. There is no "ride the sky" wirhout Hansen. That’s the beauty of metal.. So much talent in one band.. And now they are 7 haha

This is awesome...the old Helloween songs are difficult for even good vocalists to sing. Kai may not have been that great of a vocalist,but he composed some challenging vocal melodies. Ralf Scheepers does a KILLER version of "Ride the Sky." Kiske does a fine version here too.

It's unbelievable how in this live performance Kiske succeeds in reaching the higher notes as good as on the record and those who speak bad about him don't really have a clue about hard is to sing like that while headbanging and running up and down the stage always keeping enough breath to reach the higher notes of this song. Would you all be able to do as good as he does?

I know every power-metal fan is in love (or has been in love) with Kiske, but I do think that Kai is a better vocalist. Kiske's voice may be prettier, but that doesn't make him a better singer. Hansen has a great technique, and that is undeniable.
Only one person sang this song better than kiske and that was the guy standing next to him who wrote it. Kai is still making amazing music today. He's the one who should get the praise. kiske wouldn't even have this song to sing if hansen didn't write it.
@OathBird Bruce's voice was pretty tired during 1985 from the extensive touring. It is evident on Live After Death. He was much better during the Piece Of Mind tour and during the '99-'01 (Brave New World) era. For me Kiske is technically a better vocalist, but both singers are amazing and 2 of my favorites...you should watch the "video comparison" between them (link on previous comment). By the way, Ozzy was very good in Black Sabbath but he is far from a great vocalist.
it pains m to say this but kai does actually sing this song better than kiske. I am the biggest kiske fan in the world, the man is just in a league of his own when it comes to voacalists. The only reason I say kai sings it better is bexause this song was written for someone with a gritty voice and that is kai. kiske's voice is so pure and clear. Amd I'm sorry but anyone who even compares Andy sory a$$ deris to either kai or kiske don't jave a clue about vocalists period. Deris is awful! He sounds like a dying cat in a hailstorm!

Is he better than Kai Hansen at singing Ride the Sky? Well the quality of this video clip is not that brilliant which is the reason why I can't pass judgement on that question. However from what I can see, Kiske actually does a good job here, he does hit those high notes well. On the other hand I always thought this is Kai Hansen song, written by the great man for himself - it fits his voice perfectly!

@OathBird There are some things you don't understand and that's why there is no point in continuing this discussion. For example, using falsetto to reach very high notes is much easier that using chest or head voice. Thus whoever doesn't use falsetto for the highs is technically a better singer. Today both Bruce & Halford sound strained (forced) & Halford also sounds raspy. Bruce's screams are certainly not powerful anymore & amazing composer with the help of Harris, Smith & RoyZ sure
