I saw her live during the Biophilia tour. Absolute bliss. She was really into dubstep at the time of writing biophilia. The album has some big breakcore beats. The Remix album for Biophilia called "Bastards" features hard-hitting electronic artists like Death Grips, 16 Bit and Current Value. ❤
this song makes a lot more sense in the context of the album, the whole album is about the connections between nature, music, and technology. it was the first “app album” because björk released apps that explored musicology concepts that correlate with the themes of the album. she actually created entirely new instruments for this album like the gameleste. she also used a tesla coil to create electricity to use as an instrument for the song “thunderbolt”. if i remember correctly this album was used in european schools to teach students about art and science under the biophilia educational project. i recommend watching live performances from this era, they’re amazing :)
at the end that's what you call an AMEN break with live drum pads added. She was with producer GOLDIE in the 90s who I'd argue still is the poster boy for drum and bass music.
to me at least, drum'n'bass is usually much groovier, breakcore grew out of it and is more bonkers and clattery and cheerfully breaks up the rhythm for weird fills and riffs
I love those drums. I could listen to it for like an hour in a stretch. I think they are made to not match the singing. It is a storytelling choice. Deliberate mismatch. She is a storyteller afterall.
I really loved this react❤ Can you react to björk's song "crying"? the music is very 80s/90s style (because it was actually made in that time lol) and it is a very lively song
@@sushi_donut no, i just think its more interesting seeing people hear things that might be outside their taste. Bjork has a lot of great music, some more incomprehensible and some more immediately digestible.
The sound quality it's much better in spotify, especially the breakcore

Her newer works are great. She still evolving and offering different music. Her last album, Fossora (2022) is still stomping.
