Spencer was easily the better all around player compared with Hawkins, but you'd expect that to be the case considering he's 2 years older and had 3 more years of D1 college experience under his belt.
UConn seems to have the flexibility to change their game plans game to game as necessary ? That was Patriots Advantage for Years ? Weren’t locked in ? 🤔
To be clear, last year’s UConn team was great for most of the year. Heading into conf games, they were considered the best team in the country. Then, they had a rough 3 week stretch. But, they then recovered and were playing great heading into the tourney. Plenty of experts picked them to go the four and win the title.
Long time Men’s College Basketball Fan. A UCONN fan since 1978. Danny Hurley has built the best coaching staff in men’s college basketball. Because the Hurley brand is basically the basketball version of the Manning brand football wise. If you don’t realize this your opinion doesn’t matter! When Danny Hurley accepted the head coaching position at UCONN, the undercurrent of his commitments told America that he will build a coaching staff with strong recruiting relationships in New England, New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Maryland, DC etc.
10 National Championships in 12 Seasons is the greatest accomplishment. I am also not a UCLA fan or alum, but guys, do your research and stop the hyperbole.
@xtbum3339 I am not going to get into a back and forth, but the 1971-72 UCLA team went 30-0 and defeated opponents by an average of 30.3 ppg. They were fundamentally sound, and I believe they would also be dominant in this era.
It’s a different era. UCLA was fantastic but you just can’t compare the two. What I say is that this two year run by UConn is the greatest of the modern era (since the tourney expanded to 64).
Biggest takeaway is that UConn basketball is the new gold standard of the college game. This feels a lot like the beginning of a dynasty!
Amen
‘24 UConn team is one of the best of all time
One of the best teams ever
3 losses...
@@SkunkNWindow 1 lost ….Seton hall Clingan got injured when we were up and didn’t have castle for Kansas game + Spencer/Clingan had turf toes
I would argue spencer was all around better than hawkins. Better passer. Better rebounder. About the same from the 3 point line

UConn is next level, better than the “blue bloods”.
Best team since UNLV 90
Also Castle more than replaced AJ so the addition of Castle and Cam more than made up for the loss of AJ and Hawk.

Great team. People say there great for this era, but there a great team period all time. There five starters could all make the NBA

The biggest takeaway is that the Hurley, Young, and Murray are outstanding coaches.
SIMPLE MATH= 6NC in 25 years= a NC every 4 years!!! That is incredible!! 99/04/11/14/23/24 !!!
Huge fan of UConn, Dan Hurley, etc. but the Wooden UCLA teams are in a different realm of greatness.

@@hainesforohio7028 A different era and level of play.

@@JBeck33 I can agree.
If the 2004 UCONN team played either of Florida National Championship Teams not sure this would be a conversation.
Huskies 🐺
Hyperbole just lost this viewer
