  • This adapter will only work on the Volvo XC90's that have an aux input.
    If you don't have an aux option on the selector on your radio, this won't work for you.
    I forgot to add the screen recording of connecting to the bluetooth, so I will explain it instead:
    First, go to settings and find bluetooth and open it.
    Look for a device with a weird name - you can rename it afterwards.
    Connect to it, and you will hear the car say, "Device Connected."

    Not sure if this helps anyone, but I'm not as savvy as this young man, but wanted to use my smart phone with the 2005 stereo. I bought a transmitter on Amazon for about $25 US. It works through the radio frequencies and it plugs into the cigarette lighter outlet. It's not perfect but it works for me to get phone calls through the speakers and I can listen to my podcasts and music from my phone just fine. The sound isn't super high quality (if that's a thing for you) but for an inexpensive way to do this, here you go.

    UPDATE: After a day trip to from London to Brighton and back, the Bluetooth stopped working.
    After going back to check on it again, I found that the connector which goes into the factory stereo was slightly out of place.
    I put it back with some blu tack around so that it doesn’t move around.
    My advice is to put some blu tack around the connector so that it doesn’t move around.

      I have a 2009 V50 have attempted to add bluetooth 4 times. Each one resulted in the bluetooth stop working within a few days. We can't find out what the issue is. This comment may work for me.

    • @c2fixit
      @c2fixit  Рік тому

      I hope it helps
      What I did was keep everything plugged in, removed the stereo and wiggled it until it worked.
      When I found the angle it worked at, I just stuck a load of blu tack around so that it wouldn’t move about.
      Hot glue might work but the surround of the connector is made of plastic so I wouldn’t recommend unless the blu tack doesn’t work
      Hope this helps

    Great video, works great for music. The only issue I have found is that there does not appear to be a microphone for the phone, do you know if the aux cable can be used for a microphone for the phone? Or is there another option? Thanks for your great work, I would not have known about this device without this video.

      Hi Doug.
      Thanks for all your praise.
      Unfortunately, I have the same problem.
      When I am listening to Bluetooth and someone calls, I can answer it but the other person cannot hear me.
      Unfortunately, I don’t know if the aux cable can be used as a microphone.
      If you try it, please let me know.

    Hi mate, does it work on my volvo, because my car doesn’t have the aux mode. Im worried if i plug the bluetooth module i will not be able to turn it on bc of the aux. And i dont really think the aux is at some other place than the hand stand…

    Hi, thanks for your videos. I just acquired a Volvo XC90 58 Plate. I wanted to purchase the Android Head Unit from your link but do I still need to install the Bluetooth as well before the Android Head Unit will work?

      The adapter is not needed

    i have a 2006 volvo xc90 and the aux cord plug-in in the cup holder isn’t a thing for it
    would that make this solution not achievable?

    • @c2fixit
      @c2fixit  11 місяців тому

      Hi mate.
      Unfortunately, yes, that would make this solution not achievable because your car radio has different connections on the back.
      What you could do instead is get an android screen, which can add bluetooth, aux and give your car a more modern look.
      Here is the link for the screen: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/314566818009

    Hi,
    Can you explain how i can change the “Bluetooth name”? Thanks.

    • @c2fixit
      @c2fixit  Рік тому +1

      This is how to do it for iPhone:
      Step 1: Go to settings, then bluetooth, then turn on Bluetooth.
      Step 2: Connect to the Bluetooth adapter normally by setting the radio to aux and looking on your phone for new connections and tapping the adapter.
      Step 3: Once connected, press on the circled i next to the name
      Step 4: Press on name.
      Step 5: Change the name to whatever you wish. In my phone, I have it saved as Volvo XC90 Bluetooth
      Hope this helps

    • @c2fixit

      @nerazourilasquadra4216 for the head unit, the screen install doesn’t make the job any more difficult, it’s the same
      Only issue is that the original radio will no longer work, but you can use the radio on the screen with a radio antenna
