So clear and succinct. Easy to understand. This man knows how to communicate and TEACH. I'm a beginner, but learning and encouraged to do more from these tutorials. Thank you.
Your voice was like a thousand angels whispering in my ear. I followed step by step your marvelous instruction into the land of Gimp Magic. You are clear, direct, and slow as you work your skill on my square box of light. I applaud you my good sir. May God be with me, because I can already see he has blessed you. Bravo.
This still works in newer version of GIMP, just make sure you use Drop Shadow (Legacy) instead of the normal Drop Shadow! Was driving me crazy until I realised.
I have been watching lots of your tutorials and I am absolutely amazed at your eloquent use of english language and your ability to teach. I am learning a lot from you. Thank you.
I sure wish you would go back to making a LOT more tutorials with Gimp. You are simply one of the best, if not the best, tutorial makers around. Very very good.
Your voice and the way you explain the wonders of GIMP remind me of Bob Ross, gifted painter who's no longer with us. Yes, I subscribed and am working my way through your tutorials. Thank you so much for these great tutorial! Respect!
you have no idea how long i have been trying to figure this out/looking for these kind of tutorials! how did i ever miss this? thank you so much! subscribed!
Wow! You are such a gifted teacher! The pace is perfect, you cover the right amount of detail, and your have a clear and understandable voice. I've really enjoyed all of your videos and they've helped me in Gimp and Blender. Keep up the great work!
thanks for the reply. I'm a total noob at GIMP, but I absolutely loved the effects I was able to get on text using your displacement tutorial with different backgrounds and shadowing. I just spent the past hour outside photographing different textures (mulch, gravel, concrete, roof shingles, grass, leaves, grills, paneling, fences, debris, etc just to try different things out.)
Thanks for all of these.... text is the thing that makes my head go 'splody when I'm using gimp and I really appreciate how easy to follow you make these. :)
Almost forgot to like this. I didn't end up using the technique but it was very useful for me to learn. I appreciate your help. Deserves way more likes.
Well done, Sir! I like the way you explain, it is calm. I have learnt something new today. I didn't know about this program. Also, I just practiced English with you. Haha! I understood everything! Thank you! Greetings and blessings from Venezuela.
thank you, thank you so much. You went slowly enough and walked thru the tut so well I could actually complete this in a couple of minutes following along with just the audio. So easy.
In the displace filter dialog box, make sure that the background layer is selected in the X and Y displacement drop down boxes. If the wrong layer is selected then the text will not look right. Another thing you can try is to select different X and Y displacement values.
Very clear tutorial and very well explain and understandable by a non english person. Congratulation ! I'm going to use this technique with rock background.
that is a great tutorial. You very generously give us this amazing information in a very easily understood manner, so that we can follow along and do it too. Thank you so very much
i've been following your tutorials for few days now and they are really helpfull and very infirmative Thanks very much for sharing your knowledge :) peace!!
TUTORIAL DONE RIGHT!!!!! Thanks this really helped me out as I make all of my own book covers and banners and have been trying to figure out how to do this all year!! Aghghghghghgh!!!
One thing that I've found helps sell the effect more is to after all is said and done, invert the selection again to select the text-area and just take the brightness down a bit.
Love it!!!! I found this before and then I lost it! I was so sad!!! I'm saving it now! I'm subscribed! Love your tutorials they are so clear! Good teacher! Thank you! :)
First go to the “Windows” menu and select “Recently Closed Docs.” What you’re looking for may be there. If it’s not, then go to the “Windows” menu and select “Dockable Dialogs” and then open “Channels.” Repeat for “Paths” and “Undo History.” Then go to the “Layers” dialog that you previously opened, put your mouse over the word “Layers”, the cursor should turn to a hand, press the mouse button and drag it on top of the “Channels” dialog. Repeat with the other dialogs.
That is so neat! haha, if your videos are all help, I subscribed :D That was really easy to understand and easy to hear you (with no background noise, thank you for not having that!) Thanks so much! :))
Had serious issues with the drop shadow part. I restarted the whole process over and over, but it wouldn't work for me. Just as I was about to break something I noticed another drop shadow option (drop shadow legacy) a bit further down, and then it worked first try. I must have a different version of Gimp than this video or I missed something along the way lol, but for anyone that may be having issues like I was, hope that helps. On another note I love your tutorials. They have really helped me increase my knowledge and skill of this wonderful program. Thank you!
thanks man. your toturials are awesome! keep the awesomeness! :). BTW do you know any other Photo editor other than GIMP that I could use. If so, Please make toturials on it. thanks again for everything man. Really appreciate all the time and effort u put into all this
May i know how i can get rid of the shadow on the background image? Thanks for the tutorial. Most of the tutorial i find in youtube have people catching for breath but this is smooth and clear! Thanks again!
Thank you! Can you show how to do transformations? For instance, along a brick wall that recedes into the background. The shape & size of the text would need to change to reflect the apparent reduction in brick size as it recedes into the background. I would love to watermark my photos in a way that looks natural and discrete.

You may now kiss the bride.
