What an era to be a guitar player in, from load boxes and amps to modellers and plugin sims that all work for different applications. Find your inspiration and Gooooooo! Fantastic tones and playing as always Pete! Cheers
Man, you are a guitar's therapist. They just... talk with you and tell you things. They laugh and they cry... they make catarsis with you. That's just awasome, man. You are the Hitch of the guitars.
I know everyone says it in the comments but I still find the opening jams in the vids inspirational.... Pete just makes me want to pick up my guitar and play!.... Love ya man!.
I recently aquired the original amp. NeuralDSP did nailed it. It has the warmth and clarity. I haven't tried the plugin, but hearing this, it makes sense.
Thank you kindly. I own a Tone King Imperial MkII and it is indeed wonderful, but following this demo as well as one from Neural, I am going to get the plugin for simplicity in recording. Much appreciated
Between this and the Petrucci offering, I really hope they make these available on the Q.C. Hell, I'll just be glad when I finally take delivery on my Q.C. !!! Keep Doing That Voodoo That You Do! 👊
That's sounds great. Beautiful little song too, Pete. Low gain sounds are always difficult for me to get. Just lovely. I will have to download the trial.
Great sounding box...... me personally I am a helix floorboard guy..... my comment is your phrasing in your note choices are always and I mean always over the top .... what ability.. keep on keeping on and thank you for what you do .
Excellent demo Pete - as always! Wow, super sounding plugin. You can hear also the speaker/cab resonance especially on the tele rhythm section @5:30, that's so cool.
I'm currently using the Pete Thorne presets for a disco theatre production. Happy engineer FOH👌🏻 Running CAE Wah into it before my laptop. I was unable to use my usual live rig, due to ground-loop hum issues at this venue and your presets saved my gig. Thank you 👌🏻
I downloaded the trial, first time I’ve ever downloaded a plug-in but 2 weeks later I’m looking at my Blues Jr and pedals with utter contempt. For $175 aud it’s an absolute bargain, it’s the most satisfying experience I’ve had on a guitar in years.
I'm a Neural VST owner myself and I can't wait to hear what you're gonna do with this one Pete. I'm sure you just cost me $150 or more before I've even heard one note. Cheers from Southern California!
I’ve tried this standalone, and both with the real Imperial MK2, as well as the Sky King. Also tried just the cab as an IR/Mic setup. Owning a Sky King, then running this as an IR with a load box. It sounds pretty voiced around a Imperial MK2. Stronger mid range for sure. But comparing the two Imperial MK2 and the plug-in. The amp is much more well, touch sensitive, brighter and more temperamental with high gain. The plug-in sound and feels more like a good IR snapshot of the amp, dialed in at its sweet settings. Plus extra headroom and digital effects are routed Vs direct into amp. To get the true experience with the plug-in, I Re commend turning off the master EQ, and any effects. Then run your drives directly into a preamp. It actually holds up well! I’ll use this sometimes or a Tech 21 Blonde, if my Sky King is at another space. Can’t tell in a mix much at all! Or I use it for place holder guitars on the go, if I’m producing and working a bit fast.
Downloaded the demo this afternoon, I'm already sold. This is wonderful. I've always loved this amp, but couldn't justify buying it. As an Apollo user, my go to amp sims have been the Fender 55 and the Fuchs Train II, neither of which has tremolo. This is a really fair deal, too, given the rich environment with compressor, overdrives, delay, additional reverb! Now if I could only use it in the "Unison" slot of my Apollo, then I could leave software monitoring turned off. But you can't have it all.
Not gonna lie - I have a lot of their Plug-ins, and I can pretty much say I have clean tones pretty much covered. But I'm still going to get this Plug-in for the awesome Reverb and Tremolo. Later on I'm sure I'll dial some nice Bluesy tones
I was so disappointed with the new pluggin. It’s great for modern vintage cleans but nothing that Plini, Cory Wong and Petrucci (the clean amp) can’t do. I wanted NDSP to give us something closer to an SRV, Philip Sayce classic raw vintage Fender Super Reverb tone. They kind of clean that breaks and distorts when the amp clips with the noticeable twang and 3D like tuby reverb. I haven’t been able to capture that sound digitally yet. Along with some Fuzz Face and a Texas Ranger Diaz pedal and you have the ultimate Texas classic blues pluggin. Unfortunately, for me, this pluggin caters to modern-vintage cleans. Great review mind blowing chops, as usual, and amazing tone btw Pete!
@@theknappster2067 I don’t know. That’s what I thought about the SLO, that it was impossible to create a digital representation and NDSP proved me wrong, they have done a phenomenal job. I think it’s possible to create a high quality Fender Princeton or 68 Silverface Super Reverb digital emulation. But you do need close collaboration with Fender and licensing rights, like they did with SOLDANO. You add a fuzz face and a Texas Ranger and you’ve got the perfect Texas blue plugin. Sadly, don’t know if we will ever see it since Fender do their own digital products and have licences with IK - Amplitube. So the best thing NDSP can do for now is copy an amp that kind of emulates a Fender and this one ☝️ is the closest we will ever get. I hope I am proved wrong and this comment ages like milk in the future.
What about to tell Neural to build a unit like Quad Cortex, with at least 1 expression pedal build in, but with eventually all the goodie’s from Neural.
These videos are amazing and I love your playing. My main question is how do you get the drums in your tracks? Do you play or have a drummer or do you program them yourself? I’d love to see a video focused on the drums if that’s possible. Love your playing 🤘🔥

Hey Pete, your playing no need mentioning is outstanding. I would like your honest opinion on these amp sims please since you tested bunch of them. Are they comparable to real deal in clarity and depth or still real deal is real deal?
They are fantastic, I still love to play real amps/cabs because it’s just a different experience- guitar cab in room vs studio monitors or headphones etc it’s just different. But are these fantastic tools? Yes. You can do great things with them
Well, Amplitube five is such a different animal because it’s so full featured, where is this is like a one model thing. I guess that’s kind of the appeal with it though is it’s simplicity. Whereas Amplitube Is about options!
Does anyone know why I can only use this as stand alone? When in my DAW there is signal, but the sound is only being added afterwards 🙄 I cannot play with sounds in real-time. I use Logic X
Amazing! Hey Pete, I wanna use this plugin but I'm concerned about latency. What Audio interface can you recommend so the latency won't bother with the playing?
Focusrite Scarlett series would be a great starting point. You can get the solo, 2i2 or 4i4 as per your needs. The main difference is in the total number of inputs and outputs, so if you're okay with just a single input and 2 monitor outputs, the solo would suffice
Can you use external pedals with this type of a thing? How well does that work? Sorry if it is a silly/noob question, but many thanks for the response.
@@qddk9545 I’m considering it as I own one…because the cab IR and mics are great. You can just use a Two Note with the real amp. Then deactivate the amp in the vst. Then you have a silent recording Tone King IR studio for late night and demo tracking! It’s really hard to find good TK Impulse responses if you own the real amp! I tried to track down who did the IRS for this plugin…It’s Massive Attacks studio! So no wonder they sound so great! I’ve only found one good pack outside this plugin…however it is steep at $100. But I feel it’s a good companion piece of those who own the real deal! And want to do late night or silent recordings in an apartment, without using the attenuator to record at a low volume. I wish Neural made a IR studio plugin! I’d buy it so fast to use with my real amps.
I just downloaded it and use it with yamaha THR 10 C as audiointerface..I updated the drivers (ASIO driver as source), but still get some latency and "slap back" delay effect in any settings...Can someone help me with that? Thanks!!
Try reducing the buffer size in the standalone until it starts to crackle, then increase it until the crackling is gone. If you’re using it in a DAW, reducing your buffer size again in the DAW will help with latency. Also, this may sound crazy, but I’ve seen guys monitor their dry signal blended with the plug in through their monitors because they haven’t set up the routing properly in their DAW. I hope that helps man! 🤘
I’m still skeptical of amps sims. I started with real amps and they push back on you in a way that emulations don’t. That’s not to say you can’t sound amazing one them. The thing is, someone who plays as awesomely as Pete is akin to a really fucking handsome model wearing a plain “average” T-shirt or whatever.... yeah of course it’s going to look damn good and SELL!
