  • This is a video to show families why they should try the train and even a long trip can be fun for us all. It was an adventure and a fun way to travel. We are doing an entire blog on Amtrack Travel and we hope you try it out with your family.

Train is a great way to travel. More carry-on luggage, more personal room, easier to walk on, more relaxing, more enjoyable. Bus and plane you're crammed in and it's like your entering the CIA

I don't enjoy being on an airplane, mainly for 2 reasons (takeoff/landing). While I'm happier to land, I'm more anxious to take off. Having said that, it's the entire experience at the airport that actually makes my nerves and anxiety a lot worse. If I could just get on the plane directly, I think I'd reduce my anxiety by a fair margin and have a much more relaxed experience. We can do bullet-speed trains but corporate greed and interests are getting on the way.

    Amtrak is great.
I don't care about breakdowns or delays
they never charged me extra for being on the train
    longer.Nobody can beat Amtrak.

Quite well done! Inside is not claustrophobic at all, from what your footage shows. I was surprised to see how small the dining car is *on this train* (Silver Meteor?). I loved how you extended your foot to help us viewers visualize the size of the different spaces. Within five years, I'm traveling to FL via Amtrak -- will have to wait five years not because Amtrak is expensive, but because even the three-star Miami hotels are. BTW, cute selfie at the finish! :)

This is pure nostalgia for me, when I was little, me and my brother would go to New York to stay with our grandmother for the summer and we would take these 24 hour Amtrak train rides each summer from Alabama to New York with her coming to ny and the train rides there were so peaceful and interesting, seeing the places we would pass by through the window, eating and conversating with each other at the diner, napping and waking up to the new scenery outside the window, I miss these, I’m 19 now and I’m going to be taking an Amtrak train there by myself for college and I can’t wait to relive the nostalgia.

We have 2 floor trains that are much bigger than this one with sleeping cars and openglass lounge areas that you can hang out in and watch the scenery. You should check out those vids as well. Our train network sucks compared to the ones you have in the U.K. and EU tho.

Shan Sharkyshark Our train system in the United States definitely sucks, that's why most Americans don't travel. 9 hours to travel from L.A. to NY on a plane, 4 days by train maybe 3 days plus motel stops by car??? No thanks. We need a bullet train.

I went on my first long distance train from Ft.Lauderdale to Northern Virginia, I was very surprised on how friendly the staff was. I had the sleeper which was well worth it especially to take a hot shower in the morning. The food was good in the dining car. If I have the time it will be a train not a plane.

@@galaxynote7425 Agreed. The mere fact that you don't have to deal with airport chaos is enough of an advantage for me. But then couple that with the extreme comfort of a train versus cramped hard seats in a plane, and I'm sold. I just wish there was a more direct route from Florida to Atlanta. Currently, it's a 30+hr ride that has one go to the Carolinas and then back down to ATL.

Train travel, amazingly, just dawned on me. Two places from Atlanta I would go is New York, and Miami. The cost for my family of four is a quarter of the airline rates. Obviously not near the headaches of dealing with airlines/airports, can check more baggage, and the adventure is more than the trade off of longer travel times. Plus I absolutely LOVE trains.

Bedrooms can run you up to $368.00 (EACH WAY). If you plan to ride with Amtrak soon id highly advice booking roughly 5-6 weeks in advanced for the best deal. If you have any questions Id love to help :)

Take a VERY GOOD long hard look at the Amtrak website. You can find out which trains you'll have to take between one city and another. You can find out out much a ticket costs from any city to any other city (whether you take a one city to one city trip or a multi city to multi city trip).
Some trips are available at certain times of the year where you can do a 600-900 mile round trip for less than $150 (if you travel to a specific city and back on a specific train).

I've done NC to NY and ATL the NJ and never saw a dinning car. Ha, I feel cheated!!..lol Seriously though, I love the train, but after five hours, I find the seats become concrete slabs! I'm going to try a sleeper next time! Thanks for sharing!

Nice Video. I like the bi-level amfleet-2 cars. The coach class is spacious and comfortable for overnight travel and can still carry around 100 passengers. I wish Indian Railways would also introduce such cars.

Thank you for the info, I'm riding from Newport News, Virginia, to Chicago, Illinois in October by myself. I've flown before so I hope this will be better.
