Honorable mentions for Gibbs: Tony Stewart's 1999 Rookie campaign setting a record that still stands to this day as the best Rookie year of any driver. The other one I'd like to mention is Denny Hamlin racing at both Sonoma and the Milwaukee Mile in one day and winning in Milwaukee after taking over for Aric Almirola.
An honorable mention for me was when Kyle Busch won the 2008 Kobalt Tools 500 which was the 1st cup series win for Toyota and the first foreign manufacturer since Jaguar in June 1954 to win a cup race
For Gibbs the 1993 Daytona 500 his first win as a owner and Dale Jarrett's 2nd overall Cup Series win aka the 1st round of Dale and Dale show. Plus despite how it happened Kyke Busch's impressive comeback for the championship in 2015
I still say that the #3 deserves better. Dillon is just in that car cuz of nepotism. The legendary #3 deserves better, Richard! Your grandboys are absolute trash. Austin has wins cuz of luck, not sheer dominance. Kyle is gonna have to carry the damn team just like Kevin did in the past.
Memorable moments 1. The Dale and Dale show at the 1993 Daytona 500 2. When Denny Hamlin spin chase Elliott out at Martinsville speedway 3 Bobby Labonte winning jgr first cup championship in 2000
It kinda fun to know that Childress made the selection of the number because it was the first one available...as a later thought Richard had said he would have chosen 37 as a tribute to Dale as for the the #3 and his 7 championships....
The 29 fits better. Not only did Childress want a number without a 3, but the number 29 means "something in your life is ending, and something new is beginning".
I met Austin Dillon in 2007 when he was racing a crate late model. When I found out who he was, I said they would bring back the 3 for him. I just wish they had changed the font.
For JGR Honorable Mentions: Kyle Busch's 2015 season, where after missing around 1/3 of the season due to injury in the Xfinity race at Daytona, he'd have one of the most dominating performances in a single season, winning the championship that year.
Still believe that NASCAR had something to do with Busch's dominance that year. Injured in the beginning of the season but end up winning it all in the end? Too damn good to be true if you ask me.
When Richard brought the 3 back for Austin Dillon, he should've used the style of number like the CRC Oldsmobile had on it. Dale jr. has said he wished Richard would use a different Font style for the number.
I was at the 2012 Daytona 500 when Sadler started in the 33. He qualified 10th and accidentally caused the Big One on lap 1 by bumping Jimmie Johnson, sending him sideways. Later in the race, Sadler reported fuel pressure issues, causing him to drop back
i'd actually like to mention that time in 2015 where JGR had 3/4th's of RFK's 2011 driver lineup 18 - David Ragan 19 - Carl Edwards 20 - Matt Kenseth all they needed was Greg Biffle in the 11 and they would have collected all the chaos emeralds to become super JGR, a level of pettiness i aspire to have.
Another great video. A missed RCR driver was Rodney Combs who drove an R&D RCR car in 1987 or 88. The 1981 start for Kirk in the 8 was for James Hylton not RCR. I'm really enjoying this series, lots of memories.
Cant believe no one touched on Dale Jr. racing the #3 for Childress. Albeit in the xfinity series, but Jr. brought the #3 back with the oreo colors and won at daytona a year or two after losing Dale Sr.
As always awesome vid, I hate to be a smart ass but Paul Menard did make the playoffs in 2015 driving the #27 car (he finished 14th in the standings getting eliminated in the first round
As always another amazing video, but I hope you get to double back and cover RCRs National series and truck series I know the longer videos are tough . But for JGR I only have one Honorable Mention Bobby’s last gasp at win at Charlotte 05 he finished second Jimmy Johnson passed him at the last second. Fun fact the 11 Failed to qualify, So Bobby drove the FedEx 18 I hope this gets mentioned. Bobby sometimes doesn’t get the love he deserves. -Pib
I only wish I found your channel earlier just randomly was looking for red bull/ BK highlights and your 80s video popped up and now I look forward to seeing your videos its like a breathe of fresh air on NASCAR for me. Because I just dig history so this channel hits for me- Pib
You should do a 3 part episode on Legacy Motor Club and the 3 teams that merged over time to become it... Petty Enterprises, Evernham Motorsports and Robert Yates Racing.... Then, Simular the liniage of Trackhouse including Sabco Racing, Ganasi, DEI, and their own. Then the another episode on Front Row then an Episode on Rick Ware.
You are correct. and most of fans of Dale Sr will argue that he IS the best of all time. No matter how great Dale Sr was ….. I don’t think could have won his first championship without winning a couple races that season .
It's sad knowing that Dale never got the chance to retire the way he wanted to. He would be 72 years old today if he was still alive. Anyways, Kyle just got eliminated from the Playoffs so he's gonna have to wait for another year to have a shot at winning that 7th championship for Richard.
To this day i still think its awesome austin dillon won the Daytona 500 20 years after Dale won it. I have all 3 rcr daytona 500 win cars next to each other. Definitely a great choice to have the 3 back since the earnhardts dont own anything related to it.
I think Rowdy has another Championship in him! but RCR's greatest driver will always be Dale Earnhardt I'm glad Richard Childress and his grandson Austin Dillion begin using the number 3 again; Austin wanted to use the number because it was Grandfather's when he was racing. Nobody could truly be Dale Earnhardt he was a one of a kind racer whose talent was and will go unmatched for generations to come, I understand Richard Childress not using the number for several years after his passing; Dale was one of his closest friends and not wanting see someone else drive the same number is a perfectly normel reaction.
Great video I never knew some of that stuff. I have a question besides the 3,the 8 and the 33. does he still own other numbers I would especially love to see the 29B on the track. It’s my favorite number personally even though I am a Hendrick motorsports fan, it would be nice to see the 3 and the 29 regularly on the track at the same time.
So the way nascar numbers work is that no team owns them. In order for a team to keep a number, they have to have ran it the previous season and claim to run it again the year after. So technically SHR could run the 29 next year haha.
@@DoglegMediaMatt I never knew that thank you for responding to me. I appreciate that I would love to also see the 18 come back for Joe Gibbs be 88 at Hendrick motorsports. I loved it when I was at Robert Yates at the time and also the 25 at Hendrick but it will still be cool just to see the 0 and the 00
I think Austin Dillion shouldn't be in the RCR #3 Cup car, due to his inconsistency and lack of speed. Austin Dillions' Stats are this: In 354 Starts, Dillion has 4 Wins, 22 Top 5s, 74 Top 10s, 6 Poles, Led 376 of 95,151 Laps (0.003%), 218 Lead Lap Finishes, 41 DNFs, An Average Start of 17.56, An Average Finish of 17.99, An Average Point Finish of 16.9 (17th), and A Best Points Finish of 11th (Thrice - 2017, 2020 and 2022).
Menard actually pointed his way into the playoffs in 2015, and finished 14th in the standings on the strength of 21 Top 15s and 25 Top 20s.
Sadler driving the 81 for JGR, Kyle Busch Sweeping Bristol 2009, Denny Hamlin winning both Pocono Cup races his rookie year in 2006 are my HMs
U mean 2010. Although he did win both spring and summer Cup Series races in 2009
Love it!
Honorable mentions for Gibbs: Tony Stewart's 1999 Rookie campaign setting a record that still stands to this day as the best Rookie year of any driver. Great mentions!
Man do I hope Kyle can get RCR another title.
17:14 I'll miss that 31 car for RCR
2013 - Jeff Burton
2013 - Paul Menard
2014 - Austin dillon
2020 - Tyler Riddick
2023 - Kyle Busch
12:44 Johnny Sauter? 😮
Yeah it was Sauter, but I said benson haha
An honorable mention for me was when Kyle Busch won the 2008 Kobalt Tools 500 which was the 1st cup series win for Toyota and the first foreign manufacturer since Jaguar in June 1954 to win a cup race
This is a great mention!

It was emotional seeing the #3 come back. But it helped me knowing that Richard went to Mama Earnhardt for her blessing (and permission)
For JGR my mention is Bell getting the teams 200th win at martinsville, especially since he’s one of my favorite drivers
Incredible moment for sure!
Gibbs, honorable mention 2010 Martinsville one to Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano
Great mentions!
Memorable moments
1. The Dale and Dale show at the 1993 Daytona 500
2. When Denny Hamlin spin chase Elliott out at Martinsville speedway
3 Bobby Labonte winning jgr first cup championship in 2000
As always thanks for these incredible mentions!
Bring Back The #07, The #27, The #29, And Have Richard Childress Racing, As A 5-Car Team, Rather Than Being Just A 2-Car Team.
It kinda fun to know that Childress made the selection of the number because it was the first one available...as a later thought Richard had said he would have chosen 37 as a tribute to Dale as for the the #3 and his 7 championships....

I love that this year 2023 that kyle busch and Austin dillon work really really well and it also reminds me of tony stewart and ryan newman 😅
For JGR Honorable Mentions: Kyle Busch's 2015 season, where after missing around 1/3 of the season due to injury in the Xfinity race at Daytona, he'd have one of the most dominating performances in a single season, winning the championship that year.

The 33 was also used by team penske for Austin Cindric in 2021.
JGR honorable mention. Has to be the last win for a legendary driver. Matt Kenseth at Phoenix. Was a very emotional day. Loved the RCR video.
Love it! Thanks for the kind words!
Tyler Reddick had 3 Top 5s & 16 Top 10s in 2021
I was at the 2012 Daytona 500 when Sadler started in the 33. He qualified 10th and accidentally caused the Big One on lap 1 by bumping Jimmie Johnson, sending him sideways. Later in the race, Sadler reported fuel pressure issues, causing him to drop back

Amazing work man keep it up!
I appreciate this a ton! Thanks for being incredible!
Sauter and Benson were two different people
i'd actually like to mention that time in 2015 where JGR had 3/4th's of RFK's 2011 driver lineup

Clint’s finish at ‘dega isn’t just one of the closest finishes, it’s tied for THE closest finish in the cup series (0.002 sec)
Can u do Bomb Bro's Racing history
Talking about cold chills 4-29-51 holy cow that's crazy
Cant believe no one touched on Dale Jr. racing the #3 for Childress. Albeit in the xfinity series, but Jr. brought the #3 back with the oreo colors and won at daytona a year or two after losing Dale Sr.
He chose 29 bc it was the lowest number available at the time. Childress talked about that on DJD I believe.
Dang, there are conflicting reports, but from the horses mouth is the best one!
Josh Berry is the Chosen One. The Great Successor to Dale. Learned from Dale Jr. and replaced Harvick.
Very solid!
Dale Sr was great driver. R.I.P
Absolutely!

How about Elliott Sadler's lone start for JGR in 2013 in the 81
I like it!

I think so too!

67 with the 3!
You are correct. and most of fans of Dale Sr will argue that he IS the best of all time. No matter how great Dale Sr was ….. I don’t think could have won his first championship without winning a couple races that season .
I got 5 wins in his second year at Osterlund in 1980

The 29 and 31 had the best liveries.
I do like the 3 silver secret and peter max.

With RCR it’s only 3
Let's all be honest without Dale Earnhardt, RCR would have been a 2nd tier team maybe a championship.
