As a Middle School Music Teacher: thank you for the video and for keeping it clean. This goes in my stash of weird videos to show my kiddos for a few minutes at the end of a lesson when they are too fried to keep learning but still have 10 minutes to kill.
5 years ago, I started a tradition where I ask for a weird instrument every year for Christmas. Last year, I got a theremin, a piano mat, and a slide whistle. My brother got an otomatone 2 years ago and he got a stylophone last year. But this year, I want either an electric kazoo, a bongo set, an accordion, an e flat clarinet, or now maybe a melodica, a piano glove thingy, or some silly squeaks. Ya know what? I think I'll ask for the silly squeaks this year. 🤣😹
Fun fact: in Japan we play the melodica from kindergarten (it’s literally like a curriculum) so when my twin sister and I moved to England, we did a duet on it and won the school talent show in second place lol First place winners were a pair of Indian friends dancing and (with all due respect, I’m not criticizing the culture) they got awarded for their “determination and bravery” because their music didn’t load for like 5 minutes lmao but they kept waiting
And secretly kinda hot, too. I'm a married, middle Black lady who likes clean cut, olive skin guys and yet I was having a hard time paying attention to just the video. My brain was melting. I think it may be the nerd appeal - gets me every time. Didn't like Henry Cavill until he started talking about Warharmmer. LOL@
Stephan Stefanus i can only play indonesian anthem in the melodica (played it in elementary school) i am indonesian. It was a mandatory. Not sure about now. 😂
The Melodica is used at Japanese schools kinda like as a replacement for pianos, every classroom has one and we practically play it every morning or when school is about to finish😂

The nose whistle sounds like the noises that the clangers made. For those who have no idea what the Clangers are, it was a kids tv show back in the 60s( I think?) And the clangers spoke in whistle sounds
1. during covid you probably couldnt share the melodica or you could if you used lysol or some other disinfectant to clean the hose. 2. popping your ears by backing pressure into the ears canal by pinching the nose couldnt be as harmful as some suggest since the nose flute does just that. 3. the omatone that you have seems to work without the iphone (unless you are playing the original or modified it). newer iphones that dont have the earphone connector you can get a lightning to earphone adaptor.
I remember playing 25 seconds of “In hall of the mountain king” for 25 seconds in the melodica, I was coughing 5 minutes straight. (I was a kid back then)
You can get an aux adapter for the iPhone for $10 at most electronic retailers. It has a male end to go into the charge port and a female aux end. Then you can hook up an aux cord to it.
I have the kalimba and the ocarina. Hehe I like collecting strange and beautiful instructions. I also play the guitar, ukulele, and keyboard but those aren’t as strange
