I am honestly baffled when people call her a Mary Sue. I mean she grew up in harsh environment all alone so it's obvious that she would've learned how to fend for herself, plus given that she scavenged ship parts for food it's not that far fetched that she would've learned a thing or two about piloting. As for her duel with Kylo, she merely just mimicking his actions, plus its implied she picked a few tricks from him when she accidentally mind probed him in the interrogation scene.
I usually dont like saying this but i do think that all the people that bash Rey are just being sexist and immature. I dont like assuming this about a large group of people but in this case i think its true
