this is seriously the best video i’ve found so far. i’ve had neck problems since an incident from when i was little and i’ve realized how weak my neck it. this is the only thing that helps! Very grateful for you!!
I have hypermobility and I get pain/headaches and nausea from my neck, strengthening is scary because of doms, so you think these will benefit me long term? Such a scary part of the body for me 😓😓
I am right there with you. Multiple military injuries followed by taking medications that made me worse. Started these 2 days ago and I seem to be ok. I am only doing 1 set of 5 per day for about 2 weeks to see of doms will flare up. I also used to have vertigo and BBV among other things.
Hi doc, I experienced a pain on my left hand rotator cuff (not that hurt, and it doesnt show up until I used my rotator cuff too much. I can raise and move my hand normally but if I repeat it too much it'll hurt) It's started when few weeks ago, I use my rotator cuff and overuse it a bit with some weight. I felt a little sharp pain, less than milisecond after I felt it, I quickly use my right arm to help and took the weight from my left arm. It doesnt hurt on night, except I overuse it and I dont fell any pain except I use it a bit too much. Did I somehow tear my Rotator cuff doc?
If you can still lift your arm, then it probably isn't torn. Most likely the tendon is irritated. I would let it calm down for a few days (try not to lift weights out to the side) and then implement the exercises in this video as long as then can be done with no more than mild pain.
Like other muscle groups, I think there is some value in overloading the muscle with external resistance. The weight for the neck muscles obviously doesn’t have to be much, but if lifting head weight alone is very easy, then I might consider adding a bit more load.
You could still use these movements. However, your range of motion would probably be around 40 or 50% of what I’m showing here due to those levels being fused.
How often should these be done if I am just starting out? I have a C5 herniation along with a few dental procedures that really messed my neck up. So far I started doing 1 set of 5 per exercise a day and will increase in a week or two just to see how I feel.
You mentioned in the first flexion exercise that people often have weakness making them reach a little bit up but the way you were doing by going more up “ extra ROM “ is by activating your abdominals dear and not your neck flexors.

I’m so glad to hear that the video and exercises were helpful to you!

Какие упражнения можно делать для укрепления шейно- грудного отдела позвоночника?
Отличное видео, мне очень его не хватало
Some of those make me dizzy and nauseous when I do them. Anyone else?

Can you do these if you have bulging cervical disc with spinal stenosis?
Certain directions may cause symptoms, so the key is to try them gradually and shorten range of motion or eliminate any that cause pain.
@@RehabScience thank you so much😊

Sorry, you would want to implement the exercises in my rotator cuff video. Not this one.
@@RehabScience can it heal? If I dont do the exercise, will it gettingg worse?
What's your opinion of doing these with weights to get bigger neck? I did them in gym lying on the bench. Thank you in advance Dr Tom!

How do these exercises come into play when you’re fused C3-C6?

@@RehabScience the areas above and below are the ones that take the brunt of the work now on all fusions
@@XX-166 Yes, that is one of the downsides to the fusion operation.
😃👍 Thanks
You bet!

I plan to exercise twice a week to see how the body responds.

You are exactly what Mike O'hearn would look like if he is actually natural.
Haha, that's hilarious and I see your point!
