Few thoughts from someone dabbling in online websites for about 12 years. Wordpress does have cost. You likely will pay for theme and monthly hosting cost. My experience of using WP was constantly needing to update the plugins which sometimes would break other pluggins and then your diving into community message board begging for help. Finally, I never had a sense of peace with WP in terms of security. WP is by far the most hacked platform and not being proficient in website security that left me feeling vulnerable especially if I was receiving CC information from buyers. In Summary, I think WP was a great open-source project that allowed casual people to launch their own websites. However, WP couldn't really get their act together to consolidate pluggins that play well together with universal update and honestly hasn't really advanced in the 12 years since I became aware of it. Self hosted sites like square space will have some customization limitations but the peace of mind and ease of use makes its a no brainer imo.
Thank you for your thoughts! Yes, the best platform will definitely depend on your needs. My favorite thing about WordPress is how it can scale, and you can actually build any kind of website on WordPress. Regarding security, most issues can be fixed with a good hosting provider - which does come with a cost. A website is an investment, so even though WordPress itself is free it is worth spending a bit more on hosting for peace of mind :) Plugins my advice is to always keep an eye on when it was last updated and amount of installations - good plugins have support and will keep up with WordPress updates. That being said, Squarespace is a great platform as well, and if it suits your needs awesome! :)
Really enjoyed this video because I’m going down a lot of videos comparing the two, wix as well. I would like to go with Wordpress but I heard it’s more suspecting to viruses, is that true and is there a way to prevent that?
Hi Ariel, glad you enjoyed it! I actually did 2 videos explaining why WordPress websites are more susceptible to being hacked and also what you can do to prevent it. I've linked them below for you. :) If you're still unsure please leave a comment and I'll get back to you. 😀 Why do WP Websites get hacked: ua-cam.com/video/pa7zSytuGF8/v-deo.html Tips to Prevent WP Websites from being hacked: ua-cam.com/video/fyhYyMJ6XqM/v-deo.html
However hard or expensive wordpress may be, I'm sticking with it. One, because it looks more professional; two, it's has potential to earn your blog 6 to 7 figures.
Everything you said is true but Squarespace is for small businesses that don't plan on making a lot of money. WordPress has the potential to hit $100,000+ a month.
if you find yourself on road without obstacles, it probably doesn't lead you anywhere. squarespace is the quintessential wide path without obstacles, wordpress is the narrow path. enter through the narrow gate - wide is the road that leads to loss. never run away from obstacles, massive gains are always behind obstacles why take an easy path without potential for ma$$ive gain$$ ?
I'm using Wordpress with the Evanto theme and it's the worst experience ever. They "offer" 6 months of support but they never reply and don't help at all. They themselves don't even know how to build the website or even look at the themes they sell so they clearly do not have a clue of how to help. I"m still waiting on a reponse from Evanto / Themeforest. What a waste of money! I'm going to dispute the charges.
so sorry you're not having a good experience! I'm not familiar with this theme, but I'm a big fan of StudioPress themes, they are pretty good and have good support as well!

I got a Wix ad mocking SquareSpace.

@@GeekPack That's something I always tell business owners because moving platforms is a huge headache.

Geez, lose the loud pops every time you show something onscreen. Hurts my ears! Bye...
