It’s not the greatest offer, the Nate fight is. Easier fight, bigger payday. Both Dustin and Colby want the easier fights. Dustin wanting to fight Nate and Colby wanting to fight Dustin (instead of Luque or Khamzat).
Even if Dustin were to somehow miraculously beat Colby (1% chance of this happening), he knows it’d be 10x worse against Usman.

Dustin dodged that question about fighting Colby Covington like Neo dodged bullets in the Matrix. Dustin Poirier clearly fears Covington because there isn't a bigger money fight out there for him. He isn't gonna be fighting for a belt any time in the near future and neither is Covington so why not fought each other?
