** just heard that Floor may be doing a cover of "Still Loving You" Scorpions, will be Amazing!
@@nicod1361 I will die hearing her sing that.
Floor chills me to the bone..!
Floor has a cool chin.
“She’s gonna do it, she’s gonna do it!”
Well, for what it's worth, on the first Master Class she mentioned that she was somewhat of a nerd in regards to studying and dissecting (figuratively speaking), the entire human vocal mechanism from the head to the larynx, windpipe, lungs, diaphragm, even to the muscles on your ribs that help us breathe.
Thank you for the video, reaction and comments.
Stay safe and stay blessed. 😊❤🤘🤘
Floor covering Ann Wilson is a masterclass.
Floor chills everybody to the bone 😅. And yes, her masterclasses are excellent: very easy to watch and learn from the master herself.
Love how "chill" Floor become! Sitting in an old "almoge" rocking chair giving the word "rocking chair" a whole new meaning... ;) Shes more Swedish than me :D :D :D
Been a Floorknight since 2003. Can't listen to any other vocalist, although there are so many amazing ones, from many genres. She's from another dimension... FLOOOOOR❤❤❤❤
I'm 38 and have been an avid listener of all music my whole life. I truly cant think of a better lead women in history than Floor. Her voice range is clearly top top tier but her stage presence is absolutely amazing. Really minimal movement but calculated moves and facial expressions are perfect.
@@menwithven8114 everything about her is phenomenal, in my opinion of course
"Floor mania" We the Nightwish army, calls it "Floorgasm" ;)
Thank You for helping me appreciate even more the depth and quality of what I am enjoying listening to Floor. She has such an ability to project the emotions of the song.
Floor publishes new solo on Saturday - not in english this time

Please analyze Floor Jansen's growling in the Yours Is an Empty Hope and others
How’s the heart acoustic is a song you wil probably also love. She’s exceptionnal.
She's a bit of a beast floor is... Love it
You're so humble.
Great reaction - and, yes, Floor recommend going to a voice coach when possible in her master class
The expressive part you know very well! The times I did hear you sing it also was quite expressive and full emotion! And you must know the pianist also, he was in AF and now Ayreon.
"Floormania"
Not the word we normally use for it, but it works lol
I feel like Floor would like your aproach to reactions and explanations :)
Maybe a collab in some future?
Great analysis and commentary on Floor's techniques on this song. I think she was actually holding back a little as to not overwhelm the softer rendition of this song. loved it lovely lady! Peace.
Green! Like the new colour. :-)
Pls do some Nightwish reactions..Storytime from Wacken 2013 🤘
Mary, That shoulder lift and thrusting down technique we see reminds me of what I've seen Lou Gramm do a number of times. Seems like an anchoring move. Most voice teachers would be surprised to see that used.
There's really nothing Floor can't do! 😊
Great reaction and even better analysis. My singing days are long gone but it's cool to kinda reminisce a little.
Hey, if you feel like checking out a female singing drummer, take a look at The Warning and their song Dust to Dust. Would like to know what a professional has to say about balancing out that drumming and singing. 😊
Thank you Mary Z!
Finally the green hair made its debut 😉
Hey great Reaction 😊 its one Vocal Teacher speak with another Vocal Teacher. My singing Voice sounds like a wounded Coyote, who has a bad day. But i love Floors MasterClass 😊😅

Floorgasms galore this is amazing
Very talented girl, she should do something with that talent
Please make a reaction to a young, very popular singer in world. Videos from this singer collect hundreds of millions of views. Diana Ankudinova is now only 17 years old. She has a very unique, very deep, clear voice.
Dr. Marc Reynolds (Voice Teacher, Stage Director, Performance Coach and Consultant, and Acting Coach) said about the performance of this girl:
Really really exceptional! Even if you ignore her age, even is she was 10, 20, 30 years older, this is still a really exceptional performer here that we're seeing. But at her age, unbelievable. Really really exceptional! Absolutely gorgeous! And again, not just because of her voice, because her performing, watching how nuanced and engaging her performance is. Ah, it's just so stunning. It's absolutely amazing.
This is a great cover. Floor really gave me a few chills (no surprise) in the the verses. A shout out to her, is how she interprets songs as an artist. Winner is another great example. Tim Akerman's (I think I got that right) song is really good (lyrically amazing) but Floors delivery and approach simply makes her performance unforgettable.
I am still partial to the original. Wilson's desperation belting in that final chorus is hard to duplicate.
Thanks for your sharing your knowledge as always. The little tips and explanations is very informative.
You are aware that Heart's version was a cover also, right? The song was written and performed 4 years before Heart did it, by a group called I-Ten.
Time to get "verklempt" 😎🎶🐱👤 Alsoo that gold and green mic is feeling the love 👀👀👀
Going below middle C for Floor is no problem. I won't guess as to why it was keyed a bit higher, we would have to ask her, but I highly doubt it had anything to do with her lower range. Listen to "My Walden" at Wembley where at one point she strays into baritone territory, singing a Bb3 with some power. D3s are routine. At the end of "Ghost Love Score" Floor is belting a G5 to an F5. Floor has developed her lower range so she can sing a contralto role with authority. Listen to Floor sing the contralto role for "Stabat Mater Dolorosa" ua-cam.com/video/nhtOORYTGx8/v-deo.html
And Song of Myself from Wacken.

Excellent piano play by Floor's former band mate Joost van den Broek.. Hear how he clears the way for her.
Also check out Let it go from the Frozen movie. She made an adult version out of it. More her style! Just picture Elsa in a black dress windmilling in the snow ❄️
Awesome reaction 🤘🏻
Resonance makes my ears and nose vibrate. Kinda like a tickling in my vocal mask.
Hi, a bit of info: Floor does a cover of a cover. Heart (1987) version is also a cover. The band I-Ten made the original Alone song. Just that you know.
There are about 6000 comments here also confirming this 😆
@@voicehacks I don’t know how old you are. But i want hold it against you. If you don’t know a lot about 1980’s music. But 6000 come on.

@@voicehacks you're welcome. If you get an opportunity check out vocalist Melody Cristea from the band Liliac. She channels her inner Bruce Dickinson. Ronnie James Dio, Grace Slick, James Hetfield, Janis Joplin and herself in songs like Enter Sandman, The Trooper, Somebody To Love, Piece of My Heart, Holy Diver among many.
Some additional information about the song.
Heart did not do the original. The original was done by a "band" called I-10. I-10 was the nome be guerre for Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly, two fantastic hit makers and was recorded with the help of Steve Lukather and some more peeps from TOTO. It was produced by a deamon producer called Keith Olsen that at that point worked with Ozzy, Scorpions, Grateful dead and...HEART. The original is actually quite good (Not surprising considering the excellent musicians involved). Lukather does a great solo where he steals some riffs from bohemian rapsody :)
Very cool to know, shouldn't be surprised Steve/TOTO was involved though, thanks!
@@brewswillis9783 I here’s that all the instrument that were played in the original version. We’re all played by members of Toto.
Impressive vocal power... and she's sitting down while singing.
Great video like always. Hey if you see this comment and got time I’m having some vocal issues right now. It seems like the muscles in the sides of my neck are kinda jacked up. What would you suggest about that? Thanks for the videos and keep being awesome!!!
Check out Floors , Oblivion song
** just heard that Floor may be doing a cover of "Still Loving You" Scorpions, will be Amazing!
Another great video. You should do a video on Larissa Stupar from Venom Prison, as she is another female metal vocalist and a great screamer.
She’s badass! 🤘
Wonderful snging and great analysis. Just became a Floor fan, I guess. It's easily understandable why she's in Nightwish.
It would be cool to do a reaction to the Band Vektor. The vocalist there is extremely unique, but he blew his voice and it would be cool to see his style in a safe technique.
Their best song is Tetrastructural Minds.
The word is that the metal microphone got gold plated after Floor starts singing into it.... just saying...
That gold plating and internals is what makes the $8000.oo price tag justifiable.
Good one bro
Always nice to hear a spot on reaction. On the half tone: the original was even lower set. Heart transposed it a minor third up if I'm not mistaken. That might have been for Ann's voice, but of course, it's all guesswork. By transposing it a minor third up however it becomes a pretty awkward setting for guitars. Heart's setting seems to be in D flat, and I happen to think that that's not very guitar-friendly from a players perspective. So also kudo's to Heart's other musicions who dealt with that -:) The key that Floor uses, D, is not only a half step up from Heart's but also a bit more piano (and also guitar) friendly: on the piano you need less "black keys" then and that often means it's easier to push a little bit harder on the keys, which is definitely a sound that Joost (the piano player) obviously loves. The key D is the same that Floor used when she sang this with After Forever. And to be honest, that one overall I like even better then this cover, and I'm still trying to figure out why ...
That’s awesome to know! I am often telling my high voice female vocal clients to transpose up esp if it was originally intended for a male vocalist which is definitely the case for Ann Wilson - she has a high AF voice and I can see why they moved it up. And with the instrumentation it does make sense to play in D rather than C#/D flat
A video on Daniel Heiman? Please?
Alone is not an original song from HEART1
Check out the original from 1983 vinyl I-ten Alone, ua-cam.com/video/DXEhVuIjSms/v-deo.html
Then check out early version of Floor and Marco singing Alone in 2015- ua-cam.com/video/ObT2E9QTIZs/v-deo.html
And Floor back in the day with After Forever ua-cam.com/video/EpxOKueE-_0/v-deo.html
Nobody identifies the song with the other band. They wrote the song, but was make known by HEART. In short: nobody cares.
@@jennycuadra2243 Yes, credit to Ann Wilson for bringing us the song. But create also to the original composer. I do love when an artist takes an original, performs a cover and then makes it their own.
@@davehertle Well Kelly/Steinberg were songwriters, making their living composing and selling songs to others who made the songs their own with a "personal" arrangement ;) There's not just "Alone" - they also wrote "True Colors" (Cindy Lauper), "Eternal Flame" (Bangles), "Like a virgin" (Madonna) or "So emotional" (Whitney Houston) among many others. Your list for "Alone"-versions badly misses Ann/Nancy Wilsons version 2016 Royal Albert Hall - for me one of the best versions ever due to Anns vocal grain and the incredible grace of the voice of this Lady, aged 66 yo then ;) ua-cam.com/video/rtopccRfyUU/v-deo.html
@@alexiserni1152 I was never of any intention to detract of any of Ann Wilson tremendous accomplishments. 1) I was hoping to draw attention that Floor Jansen has done covers of this song over the past decade and 2) Just to give credit to the original. Ann Wilson stands alone at the top, No pun intended.
The original song made by the band I-Ten 1983, you can also find on you tube, here is a link: ua-cam.com/video/ONuYXeZdCNw/v-deo.html
I like your eyebrow scar.
BTW. original song is from band I-TEN not Heart!
Nice! I think it was just awhile before my time and I think the version by Heart was also the one that made it known here in the States
@@voicehacks Absolutely, Kelly/Steinberg were songwriters, making their living composing and selling songs to others who made the songs their own with a "personal" arrangement ;) There's not just "Alone" - they also wrote "True Colors" (Cindy Lauper), "Eternal Flame" (Bangles), "Like a virgin" (Madonna) or "So emotional" (Whitney Houston) among many others. As far as I remember the I-Ten Album was not really considered a "commercial" recording, but rather a demo recording to show some of the songs available for artists. Did you ever hear Hearts "Slow" version (i think where Floor took the inspiration from) 2016 at Royal Albert Hall - remember Ann was 66 yo then, incredible grace in the voice and her spectacular grain! ua-cam.com/video/rtopccRfyUU/v-deo.html
Interesting that you mentioned G5. Floor "upper belts" a G5 four times at the end of the song Greatest Shoe on Earth live at Tampere, which is also the last song of the concert. If you have not heard that song I would recommend it, it is also highly reacted to. It would be interesting to hear your take on it, you have good info.
Celine Dion and Kelly Clarksen have done some serious G5 from time to time as well!

Just for info. Hearts were NOT the original singers of this song, there's was a cover the same as Floors. The original was written in 1983 by a band called i-ten (i think that was there name) and Heart covered it later!

You are aware that Heart's version was a cover also, right? The song was written and performed 4 years before Heart did it, by a group called I-Ten.
I think the 200 other comments here about it pounded it in to my head 😆 #ackchyuyalllyyy
Just think if NightWish did th8s live Thomas and Floor
You still missed the last nod from Floor at the very end of the video, indicating this was the final/best take. ;-)
One of those little things that you can easily miss by stopping a video prematurely when you are in a hurry.
Thanks for yet another great breakdown & reactio! Floor is a QUEEN of metal. May I suggest one band that has a great male vocalist? The band is called "Poets fo The Fall" and you could watch their live version of song called "Carnival of Rust". Live is recorded in Moscow . ua-cam.com/video/AGPpUTPzS6k/v-deo.html
Hmm... once again a channel I'm quite positive that I've subscribed to before, but shows I'm not. Is YT unsubscribing users from channels or what the heck is going on? I know I could remember wrong if it was a couple of channels, but I've had so many of these in the last 6 months.
Anyway, thanks Mary 🤘
So you like Floor Jansen and harsh vocals? Try Disdain when she sang in Revamp (her own band) back in 2010. ua-cam.com/video/iNSf64M9uA0/v-deo.html 😁
I loved that album when it came out! Great example of all she can do!

Floor needs to duel with Amy Lee from Evanescence. When this happens I will be able to die a happy death regardless of how I go out
Yeah that’s an all time dream duo!! 😍
We have similar death wishes... 😂😂😂
Lol I shared the video of Floor singing Alone on Facebook and 1 dude was like "eh she isn't that great"... Bro what the hell are you smoking??
hahaha right people who say shit like that just want to be edgy sooooo bad lol
I think she just wanted to do what she did with the song “shallow ”. Make it slower, make it headier . Nice, I would’ve liked the beat to come in during at least the chorus, even if she kept the rest of it slower. But still nice.
I think that most of her belts were upper belts, but to my ear the highest note at the climax was a head mix or even a head voice.
Floor is amazing. But I miss the Tarja Period. 😢
Floor is fantastic but I grew up listening to Heart(thanks mom) and while this was great I prefer the original. Not taking anything from her, the tempo and accompaniment in the original just made it feel more powerful.
Last week when I heard Floor singing Alone I must admit I was a little bit disappointed. I thought Chenoweth Kristin´s version was way more enjoyable. Your explanation gave me more information in what she was achieving in this performance. I will have to give it more listens. I still love Floor and I really hope to see her Nightwish concert announched for May here in Luxemburg and in Amsterdam.
Sorry, but does not even come close. First of all she does not even do the big belt (which is the whole point of the song) and second she sings in that typical American thin a bit quacky semi-child like kind of voice. Floor's version is so much warmer and expressive.
Not sure that semitone lift was her best idea ever. She sounded a little strained at the top end - not as fluent as I am accustomed from her.
Surely you knew that the Heart version was NOT the original - that was i-ten on their Taking a Cold Look album from 1983.
Training is just for amatures... i got profesional gig with no training...
... well... they baned me later... to good... it turned out i broke the geneva konvention. Cruel and unusal treatment.... so i have to quit my gig at gitmo
Pause face...
No one, no one could ever sing this song like Ann Wilson!!!!
Indeed, Floor did it better..
Ann is great, but Floor gives her a run for her money :)
your cute , that's all.
So sad to hear her amazing voice totally killed by dynamic compression... I understand that we need it, especially for powerful voices like hers. But come on, this is only piano and voice! Let her voice breathe! Let it be as you would year it if she was singing and playing acoustic in front of you. I want to hear her pianissimo and fortissimo, I wanna feel the wide vocal space she creates with all her resonance. Very bad production choice, in my humble opinion.
To me the final ALONEs sound a bit more like an "M2 mix M1" approach, not a pure belting... I might be wrong, though. Only Floor could tell because she's so good at managing different techniques that sometimes it's hard to understand what she's really doing 😀😉
The original is much better... sorry
Nope it is not, the one with Ann Wilson is not the original and it not better either, sorry.
