"kids like to crash cars sometimes... toys of course"
lol well said
No wonder Jang can afford to buy all these sets, think of how many jobs he's got in lego city alone.
Well he's sometimes a crook but then a officer then pilot, trash collecter, truck driver. Wonder how he has time for anything...
Amazing
ohhhhhhhhh
AmazinglyIdiotic I know right
In LEGO city I have a Lamborghini and Mclaren
That price is over-the-top ridiculous!
yes
totally!!! ikr!!
And it is everywhere. 70 € in europe. That is just insane.
Exactly. It looks ok and all, but that should be $50 at best.
I keep hearing from families that Lego has gone from a common purchase to a once in a while/couple times a year purchase due to price. Combined with the seemingly quick retirement cycle, it's frustrating for parents. Some find it cheaper to buy bulk classic Legos from eBay or use their old collections.
Early 2016: First pictures appear; I am totally buying this set. May 2016: Price appears: Lol..skip.
same
same here
Same sadly
i didnt check the price at first. so i went back to it thinking what a good set im going to buy. I was stopped by the price. 90$ seriously LEGO?
@GoatyGuy sad
@GoatyGuy Are you kidding me?!
@GoatyGuy wow
It's a 3D pizza printer? :O The future is now! :D
+Marclivis XD
+JANGBRiCKS can you make a lego candy machine
Just make sure that the cartridge of flour doesn't get sour...
+Paul Earithyme WHATTT
Oh, it should be "If I may duly note"... That should clarify matters...
I really like the design of the maroon car especially. For once for the past two decades they actually made a regular 4 stud wide car that looks like a regular car. I also love the inclusion of an alternate build. It's a throwback to older Lego sets that used to incentivize building more than just one config.
What a shame with the pricetag though.
90 bucks? Maybe a police station, not a gas station.
Ken block
It's a decent set, but, the fact this is $90 baffles me. This seems like a $50-$60 set at best. Maybe $70. We have other sets from City still available at that price, that are decent for what they are(like that new Bulldozer Break-In). So, why $90 for this?
Nimesh Chokshi If the gas station and the mechanic Place were separate and you could have both at the same time then it would definitely be work $90.
That surprise 2-in-1 build was nicely integrated in your video Jang.
This is a very nice set. I agree with the price being way too high though!!
I love the set, but there is NO way I'm buying it at that price point.
It is a quality LEGO set, and LEGO has gotten to what fans want in City Theme:
-People Pack
-VIP Service
-Gas Station…
But this set is almost double what it should cost. When I saw the original price posted on Brickset compared to the Piece count, I hoped that they were wrong and that it would a Maximum $60, not $90. The 2008 Police Station was hardly even that expensive.
The 08 station WAS $90, but had 953 pieces. That still is a better deal
Why is this 40$ more than it should be ?
Because Lego city
+Kylo Ren 50 more honoustly if getting 2 in one sets means the price becomes this much more than it's not worth it.
Maybe it's because we are running out of non renewable resources to make the Lego pieces
+Oliver Beck Nah, not with oil, even at 6-month highs, still under $50 a barrel.
+Darknova3529 that's nonsense, look at the 3 in 1 creator sets and there value and their price per part
The only reason you like the street sweeper is because you're driving it. Also, I'm pretty sure the thing at 12:07 is the pizza repair station. Everybody goes there eventually
it's a tool box, and the mechanic just bought a pizza for lunch.
why is the cash register there??
Keeping the city and the comments clean. This is why we love Jang
Finally! A City set that isn't entirely vehicle based, and doesn't have a structure that wouldn't fit into an actual City centre kinda thing, this looks great! I hope they make more things like this.
+AmazingLego123 ...but MUCH cheaper
Hey Jang! Love your video's! and I LOVE your awesome moc's.
Keep up the VERY good work!!!
I just love this set, I haven't had a new Lego set in years in I think this might be one to get back into it
I like how you said that you keep the comment section clean, I love that you do that!
I really really like this set, because I recently came back to Lego and I'm building a lego city, but all the old gas stations are crazy expensive now, so even though this set may be a bit expensive, it's still nice to allow those who missed out on the previous gas stations to finally build one (:
it's a workbench used to cut pizzaslices at industrial quality
Best comment of the day
Coming back to this youtube video almost 3 years later remembering that this was actually my first youtube video i ever wached!
It's a pizza 3d printer. The yellow nozzle is the filament extruder.
Lol
fantastic to see Lego corp giving alternatives for their principal builds! I really miss that from the sets of my youth.
Thank you for acknowledging us australians in the video. You take pride in your sets and treat them well. You are my favourite youtube with enthusiasm and humour in your videos. You inspire me and make me have something to look forward to every day. Thank you for making your wonderful video's and keep soldiering on😊😋
it's beautiful, it's like in the boxes to the 80's with 2 full instructions!
90$!! please tell me thats a typi
*typo*
+banana derpington
nope
I hope it is.
+banana derpington nope #sadness
+banana derpington I am so sorry, its not. :( I would have bought this immediately but the price shook me to the core
Dang! My favorite set of the year. Keep doing the reviews👍
I love that every vehicle in the Lego city line-up is rocking a rocket bunny widebody.
Great vid! Really well-presented. I love that they put in the EV charging part on this station. It's like they've captured a moment in time, and it'll be interesting to see where things go from here :)
The set is really cool and the alternate build is a great edition, but that car wash function is mindblowingly awesome for me!
That car wash is so great! :D
I was really looking forward to this set, ever since i saw it at toyfare, however now that I am seeing its pricetag, ouch, i cant justify that, for the part count i was expecting 60 dollars? 70 dollars tops. You are 100% correct though, that price per part is just way too high.
Station looks great. Nice to see they went back to the idea of alternative builds again for non-'creator' sets.
Wow! what a great set and review, I love the new car design and I was really bored of the old one now. Definitely one of my personal favorite city sets if this first new wave!
Adding this to my wish list. It's really cool and good looking.
Great Job Jang! What a good video
I'm just getting this set in a new lego store that opens near my. looks great and love your review
Great video! The set looks great too.
I love this set already and I haven't even finished watching the video!
I remember having the Shell petrol station from the 1980's. It had a proper base plate with two lanes for fueling. Honestly, I think that was a better set than the current one.
Ahh this review was great. The primary build stirred up fond memories of the 'Gas N' Wash Express' set that I had in the 90s - it did have the bonus of being able to have the car wash AND the main fuelling station built at the same time but having three vehicles in this iteration is definitely a plus! It's a shame about the high price - I think my nostalgia (instead of my common-sense) would drive my wallet in this instance!
+DICE IN A BOX - LEGO "This set as the 90's look, so will charge 90$ for it"
+tekmoc17 brick And watch the sales fall way flat (6 months later) - lets drop the price to 59.99!
I'm not normally into playset pieces, but, this one sure looks interesting. I like the second build, too, from the photos I've seen.
Awesome set. Great for display.
Good job jang keep up the great work
Nice video! I'll probably get this set when it goes on sale so I can get two of these.
This year city is having a ton of cool sets. 😃
hi jang, great review! love the extra builds as two in one to give extra ideas like Lego did in the past. but it's an expensive set! I did not see the price in the intro, so I guessed while you were talking expensive would be $70, but rechecking the intro $90 is at least 33% to high!
when I saw this set I fell in love. I've been needing a gas station for my city but the price is wayyy more than it should be.
I loved your car wash idea!
The price of this is absolutely insane, especially since there are *no* new or especially large pieces. It's almost like they made a mistake or something.
On top of that, they needlessly increased the piece count by adding things you absolutely don't need like the bicycle, the lego signs out front, the lame pizzaria, and even the street cleaner (kinda cool, but what does it have to do with a service station???).
At it's core there is a pretty awesome ~400 piece, $39.99 service station here. I wish they had produced that set at that price point which would have made this enjoyable concept available to a much wider number of children and families.
Which is funny, since the one is 2007 WAS 400 pieces (402 to be exact), and was $40, and even more apples to apples, was also a Summer release.
Brought two of these sets along with the last Service Station (7993) and custom it with double pumps and expanded shop and city pizza. Also built up an Octan shop.
Yeah, we noticed the price issue, but we were there on a Thursday night, so we got our TRU cardholder discount of 10%, plus I had $20 in Rewards Money for Toys R Us, so that is how we brought the price down to more where we felt it should have been. This is our first Service Station, so we are pretty happy with it. Agree with you re: the tall Octan sign, that it should have been fully finished on the back. Thank you for another great review.
I had the 7993 service station as a kid this reminds me of it
+William Burger I have 7993 as well.
I am very proud of lego they are finally making more realistic buildings and vehicles in the city line. Cudos to lego!
Good review jang
Ps
My sic fig is in it as well the smiling fig with brown hair.
Keep up the awesome reviews.
Love it, love it. Hope to get it in South Africa soon. Been looking forward to a proper gas station set. Did I mention I love it.
Love the electric car charging station!
ITS AWESOME JANG
If I'm not mistaken there was a similar set to this when I was kid that I had, or possibly I had a combination of smaller separate sets that pretty much made up the sum of the parts in this set combined. Either way I loved that as a kid, so many good parts.
Love your channel jang!!!!!!
It's a great looking set, and as a fan of LEGO's service stations I was planning to get one when I saw pics of it. But then I learned the price, and I just can't justify it. Glad to hear that I'm not the only one that thinks they shot a little high.
It's a nice set, reminds me of all the ones in Turkey. But, the price is ridiculous. $90 is way too much, $60 on the other hand would make more sense.
im fairly sure the transparent blue pieces on the shelf are jugs for water coolers which are often sold at fuel stations.
Awesome, I love the 2 in 1 sets of lego, not so much creator, but just regular themes with that.
How much did it cost I couldn't see from the bit at the start was blurry
+TJ Bricks 89.99!
I was about to comment that your hook on the tow truck was the wrong way, then I realised that it's on a ball and socket hinge. Nice touch.
Cool set. I like the charging station for electric cars like Tesla
I would say this is a very nice and clean gas station (which is something I don't say often)
Wow! This set is awesome, Lego really outdid their selfs. Although this set is out of my price range because I am currently buying the new line of starwars sets, I think I'm gonna grab the car instructions and build them
In comparison to all the other Octan gas stations Lego has made in the past, it goes to show that they've really changed a lot over the years.
so much amazing great video dude
Yessss, we are getting a new service station in 2020 !
Very nice Review and set
So many stickers nowadays! A 900 piece set (4565) from 1996 had four stickers. I can't even begin to count the amount of stickers in this set. I'm more a fan of the printed stuff. Especially on tiles smaller than 2x2.
I LOVE the set! I was so hyped to get this then I saw the price and thought It was a typo. Even for a 2 in 1 the price is crazy!
Thanks Jang!
i like how he said keep it clean! (get it?)
i love the sedan
Awesome set!!!!!
Awesome Video! 😸
I really like the sense of humor that jang have in this video when he introduce the 2nd build, and I agree about the price of the set I thought it would be like $50-$60 but $90 is to high
You'd need at least three sets to make it viable as a convenience store I think, but I like that it has lots of little things. That street sweeper is really nice.
You're 100% right about that price point. My son and I went to Toys R Us today to pick up some of the new City sets, and were completely shocked at the cost of this set. I ended up putting it back and instead got the Porsche hybrid set, it just seemed like a better buy in comparison.
love your Lego view man
Definitely agree with you on the price, in Australia it will be over $120!!!
I love your vids so much
Nice set, but the older one was better (from the 90's) and cheaper.
youtubasoarus It was only cheaper because of inflation. At the time, even though it had different prices, it was worth pretty much the same as this one.
The set (6397) was re-released in 2001 (as 6472), going by that figure, the set would had been about $70.
thank you Lego I've been waiting forever for a alt. build
+the brickeye But at what price...
+tekmoc17 brick Indeed! I'd save $10 more and just for the camper and the lodge instead.
I really like the street sweeper and the service station; I can see both, with a little bit of modification, having homes in my layout. But, I was shocked by the price as well. I think 30-50% is spot on for how much it is overpriced. I have seen a couple of sets with prices that were a lot higher than expected, I am hoping this is not a continuing trend. Thanks for sharing!!!
I bought my last Lego set back in 2000 obviously back then they always released 3 in 1 sets. Just recently gave my 26 lego sets all Lego city(Lego system) to my niece feeling sad now lol.
Service stations are huge motorway stops, that contain shops for food, and stuff. You can also refuel your car. Needed for long journeys as a milestone and a chance to rest.
I love this series!!!!!!!!!🙂
Great video thanks again
Best bike description ever
Whoa, the street sweeper returned? I remember seeing it way back in the day as a Lego magazine exclusive, which sadly means I never got it.
good video hang keep making more do not stop
Jang you are the best :D
Jang- great reviews. Would you consider adding the price sidebar at the end of videos, in the final wrap up? Sometimes I miss it at the beginning, so having ot again would be helpful.
keeping comments clean...
Jang, you made my day.
+Thomas Theorist I;ve been commenting a lot, and keeping it G-rated as usual, lol.
This set is finally on sale here in Australia where I drive around in a ute!😜 (Ute= Short for utility truck perhaps? Aussies shorten everything!) Great looking set & I love the pizza repair booth! 😆. Haha. Cheese machine?
My guess is they upped the price because of the full 2-in1set including instructions. But in the old days, there was always an alternative build....
i would only consider buying it now at the 35% off price.
Well I wanted to buy 2 sets... but now they have retired the product...
cool set!
