FYI….I recently took my DMC off of bobbins too. They knot terribly with the “kinks “ in them. I found that ironing them while still on the floss tags made them smooth while stitching. Just a thought. Be well
Thank goodness you were able to figure out your esophagus issues with your doctor. Talk about scary.
Loved seeing your stitching and stash. I ended buying that Dutch sampler book. There are some amazing motifs in there in addition to the main chart.
Thanks for showing your skin routine. I've been on the hunt for skin products. I loved using whamisa's green tea set, but they stopped selling it so I'm on the look out for something else, especially since I have sensitive skin.
Have a great week!
Love your progress on your wips. Happy stitching!
Thank you for sharing about what you are going through. I’d never heard of that medical condition but it is good to know in case it does happen to someone close to me. I hope you get more relief. My favorite minder is the Nancy Drew book cover The Old Attic. I LOVED reading Nancy Drew books when I was young.
You are so wonderful to listen to as I stitch. Thank you for sharing your beautiful stitching. Your skin is glorious.
Always appreciate your honesty and your gorgeous stitching. Hope you get a solution to you throat issues...love from the UK ..😊🇬🇧
Sorry to hear about your throat issue. I hope the dr.s find help for you. My favorite needleminder is the one for the commercial at movies. Dancing popcorn etc so fun.
My favorite minder is the Traumatized Cat Trio. It's on my work right now. They crack me up. Many on my wish list. I'm also on the Use It Up path, 3 weeks no buy so far. Aiming for a purchase for my birthday in February. As a fellow floss nerd, I love seeing your color choices!
I always love seeing what you’re working on and hearing/seeing your plans! I love all of the mad for minders! Especially the vintage cookware ones! They remind me of my mom and Grandma!
Thank you for sharing your medical updates. I hope that it is a little therapeutic for YOU to share what is going on and helps you process it, even just a little. It is helpful for many of US out here to know that we are not alone in dealing with unpleasant medical mysteries. The more people get comfortable sharing the better off we will all be
That's my thought process. And I find when I share things I always have people who have walked that path and give me helpful information, and people who are earlier on the path than me who find my information helpful.
I have always admired people that research the heck out of things. It’s a gift, own it and appreciate it. Always tell us what you find out!
My favorite minder is stitching before bedtime. So many good ones!
I am looking forward to seeing your progress on the "No Time Like The Present" SAL. I also fell in love with it. I am a silk girl, so I'm doing mine with a deep red and very deep Navy (almost black) NPI on 40 count PTP fog. I've already started it... it's gorgeous and SO fun. Manageable too, smaller than previous yearly SALs! Happy stitching!
Oooo I bet that will be gorgeous!
Hi Emily, I had a marble pathos that I just loved and a neon pathos, and I did notice that almost half of it was almost white, and it was so healthy looking at first but it just got smaller and smaller and kind of pined away. So eventually I had to give it up. But lovely for a while. I’m really enjoying my plants but did give some away. I want what grows well for me and some just don’t work for me. Also I don’t want so many that they are a burden to take care of. 😅😊😊
Great video, a bit behind in watching due to the busyness of December! Love the colour choices for your sampler, they look so good on floss drops too. Like wavy hair extensions! Congratulations on the self-awareness of your neurodivergency too. Regardless of whether you decide to pursue an official diagnosis it's good to recognise those traits in yourself. Many women struggle to get a diagnosis because the criteria is based on young boys and not girls or women. For many women, having an autistic child of their own is the first step. For you, it was your plant babies LOL. Good luck with your journey of exploration.
My favorite minder is the cute Christmas Reindeer or any of the vintage book covers! Love me a good vintage book and also the Beatrix Potter. So many to love!
My favorite minder is Floral Mason Jar. Your ring of old DMC floss was so fun. While I have new Dmc sorted and organized but I also have an old bag of 30 year old floss with the old labels, never bobbinated.
How funny. I have old DMC that I refuse to dispose of for the exact same reason of waste not, want not. However, mine fills an entire “pretty” box from Joann’s or Michaels and they are all still in skein form. I go through it every time I need something that I can’t find in my newer stash. I keep kitting up a project only to find that I seem to be missing that 1 skein. So out comes my old floss box, and sure enough, there is the color I am missing, in my old stash. It has saved me from stopping off at a hobby store to pick up a single skein of floss ( like I’d have only purchased the one skein 😁) more times than I can count.
@@juliew3740 Exactly! I have found that I need to be careful if it's a second skein that I need because sometimes the dye lot has changed. I also have another bag of left over HAED floss with multiple skeins of colors, also not on bobbins.
Even enjoyed the skincare! We enjoy many of the same brands!
I hope the meds help the EOE. I’ll have to look at the moisturizers you recommended; most of what I’ve tried leaves me feeling as though I need to wash my face again. I think I have at least a half dozen of Evika’s minders on my list, but my favorite minder is Stained Glass Dragonfly.
My favorite minder is on the farm 🐄 🐖 🐓 🥰
I hope they figure out your swallowing issue and you don’t have to give up bread and cheese 😜 cuz that would be hard!!!
Mfe is tempting me HARD!! But I think I’m doing a “mini year” and starting a BAP would not be a good idea 🤣🤣
Just watching you now & I have the same issue with my throat!!! And they want to stretch my throat too. I have these issues like you!!! I looked up the EoE!! I have other conditions that are common with this disease!! So I cannot really get in to see anyone right now, but looking to January to see a doctor!! Thanks for sharing and being open. This has really made me think I need to get this looked at & taken care of as soon as I realistically can. I work in retail. So super busy right now. 💜💜💜💜 And love your stitching too!!! 💜💜💜💜
I definitely encourage it. Me going and getting these answers hasn't changed anything (yet?) but at least I know WHY. That's huge for me. Maybe not specific allergens yet but in the future I am hopeful.
I had some allergy testing done, just the usual and nothing showed up. Next they wanted me to do food allergy testing and at the time about a year ago, it just was not feasible. But think I’ll get back to it & have that done & try to get to a gastroenterologist. I have to have a colonoscopy any way so they can do the other at the same time. Oh what fun January will be!! 😁😁😁😁 I read up on this & I also have Asthma, eczema, and issues with acid reflux.
Hope you get some more answers and treatments. Plus I also enjoyed your plants & skin segment!! 💜💜💜💜 Having a child with autism and nitro-sensitivity and my other has sensitivity to smell & texture too, your revelation was interesting to hear about. We have a lot of that in our family. And awareness about this for yourself is soooo important. This way you can decide what, how etc you want to do, not do help, live with etc for yourself. I’m hoping my daughter has this realization in an adult way someday too. She know some of this about herself now but she’s not really wanting to “face” it. Etc.
My son is too “low” functioning with his ability to understand how his autism affects his feelings, behaviors…etc to help himself too much. It more simplistic. Lots of breathing techniques, trying some visualization etc for him.
Again really enjoyed your episode today! 💜💜💜💜
I really enjoyed this video, and I appreciate the added bonuses of the plants and skincare! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge, especially of the skincare. It is true, your skin is beautiful! For the stitching, I wanted to mention how beautiful Halloween Eve is. Love it. My favorite minder is Why I’m Not Going Outside. The Mother and Baby Owl one is beautiful too.
So I tried to watch the Fall of the House of Usher but for me it had a Beetlejuice dinner scene flavor to it!😆 I'm a big fan of Mr Poe and the movies based on his writings but they're old, from the 50s and 60s with actors like Peter Lorre. If i could quit thinking of those, maybe I can watch this newer movie. I'll check it out again. I hope with the new diagnosis that you begin to feel better. Half the battle is learning what ails you👍🏽
Thank you, thank you, thank you so much for giving the information about dysphalgia!!!! My husband has this happen, choking, hiccups, and he would not go to the doctor about it! He listens to flosstubes with me and I exclaimed, oh my God, that’s what you have and ai looked it up! Thank you for giving us this information. Oh, and I always love your flosstubes!
Well that's really awesome. I'll update more as I have more tests done. Tell him the upper GI endoscopy is nothing. You go to sleep and then they're done.
Hope you get some relief for your medical issues. Beautiful stitching as usual! My favourite minder is Santa’s Reindeer and also Mary Poppins.
You get such great plants at Home Depot - I’ve never seen any that nice at my Home Depot. I hope you get your digestive issues sorted out, but don’t neglect your neck! Physical therapy might help. Thanks for the skin care advice - I’ll check some of them out. Lovely stitching as always.
I have food allergies. And you’re right. It will be something you love. My throat does the same thing yours does. I find if I stop eating what I’m allergic to for awhile, I can start eating a little more.
Your new SAL for 2024 is going to be beautiful! I'm just about finished with my 2017 SAL. Loved your video!
My brother has the same issue.
He had a bad incident in a restaurant.
He also had to have his esophagus stretched.
Your new Sampler is going to be awesome.
My favorite needle minder is.........I'm a craft hoarder.
Marilyn
Hi Emily just wanted to let you know that my son also has eoe and was having many choking incidents before being diagnosed. Chicken and cheese seem to be what he chokes on most. His doc put him on pantoprozole and he takes very small bites / chews slowly and has had very little issues since starting the meds. Hope you are also able to find something that helps you.
My favorite minder is “ Intermission Treats.” I love their minders - so much quirkiness! As always, thanks for sharing your stitching and your life with us, Emily. Take care!
I love your stitching and color palettes Emily! My favorite color is orange 🧡. My favorite Mad For Minders are Two Fridas and The Wave.
Yep, it's a food thing, for me its cheese and tomatoes. My teo fav foods 🙄 ormally they try nexium because it helps lessen the histamine2 release which can help with the allergic reaction.
I'm doing the MFE 2024 Sal also. Probably won't keep up, but that's okay. My favorite needle minders are Not a Craft Hoarder and Big Foot Doesn't Believe in you either. I have a few minders from Mad From Minders. Take care.
My esophageal issues are triggered by my allergy to paprika. My dad and I had the same allergy and originally it manifested by severe hiccups that went on for hours or in his case days - and he was a type 1 diabetic. I made the connection with the 'stuck' something in my throat whenever I eat paprika. It is hard to avoid unless I make everything myself because it is in so many foods, usually hidden under the word 'spices'. It also means no Mexican, no Middle Eastern or Greek foods in particular. So those restaurants are off the list.
My favorite minder is Herman in Love & Season of the Witch. I just got the SAL charts and need to get everything together. I can’t wait to stitch that big a$$ deer. I think I’ll try the cleanser you use. I bought a new to me cleanser and it is making my face breakout. I haven’t had pimples in a long time before that. I definitely need something new.
Oh yeah I am the same way!! Plant lover and do the same thing you do! HA! glad I am not alone. love watching your videos! Keep them coming.
My favorite minder is Pretty Peacock
10:52 ah interesting it has a name!!!! I went for allergy testing years again thinking it was dairy and they said no just dust mites, well I’m not intentionally eating them. Mine is worse in the colder weather and think it’s also related to my post nasal drip but is defo dairy as well. I have coughed after breakfast cereal and milk since I was a child and so much so my mum used to accuse me of being a smoker, never once have I touched a cigarette and I’m older than you, only a snide tho 😂
I had the same gastro issues and did all of the same test. I was told no more Aleve and take Tylenol which is like taking water. I was stretched also. It might be a tad better but not much. I went back in Aleve. I do have lots of acid. They put me on pepsid. I didn't go back for my follow up. I just deal with it and eat what I want.
My neck is still hurting. I just want to take Aleve...
So much of this video hit home with me! I wish I was setting on the couch with you so we could talk. Xoxo. My favorite minder is Toad Tea Booth.
Lady....we can chat any time. Just hit me up on Facebook messenger / video chat. 💙
Hope you get some effective solutions for your health concerns. Try some Biofreeze for that neck!
I loved The fall of House Usher. It was so eclectic and it just draws you in. My favorite needleminder is Alice in clockwork, love the steampunky look of it 😊
EMILY!!!!!!!! Sooo thrilled you are enjoying the drum!!!! Cannot wait to stitch and thanks for the heads up!!!!! Loooove all your stitches!!!!! You are such an inspiration!!!!!! Hope you find the root of your EoE….common culprits are dairy…nuts….eggs….but could be just about anything. Definitely go for the allergy testing…might put you on steroids next?..hang in there girl!!!!!!!!!💚
My favorite needle minder is white rabbit. I have a hard tine with chicken, I try to eat organic but restaurants.... I wonder if it's the hormones or antibiotics they add.
I am glad that you enjoyed Fall of the house of usher. We thoroughly enjoyed it. My favorite minders are heart of a werewolf and fear the reaper. I have been dx as ADHD in my adulthood and I would be classified as neurodiverse, that is why I go 5000% in on a hobby with research on said hobby. I have to research the hobby to death before I ever do said hobby. You are the best! Thank you for taking the time out of your life to record these videos! Your videos make my day❤ hugs from northeast Tennessee ❤
Hi Emily. My brother has eoe and my dad has esophageal issues. Bill found out he is allergic to tuna fish and some sea food. Your symptoms are very similar. I hope you find the cause of yours. As always, I enjoyed your show.
I call dibs on any stuff the doctors remove from you starting now! Thanks :) Tacos better not be the food allergy. The project bag matches perfectly to CAL. On the weekend, you are organizing and choosing threads for an upcoming SAL... while I am two lemon drop martinis in LOL Your skin looks great. Great glow to it. xo
Oh jeez, I should have waited til I reached the end of the video to leave my initial comment (but I would have forgotten, so...). I'm really, really waiting for the research (it doesn't exist yet, to my knowledge) to come out stating that detailed hobby work like specifically cross stitch is a big, BIG marker for neurodivergence and specifically ASD. Because I'm very convinced from personal experience, from the experience of those around me who are crafters, from the craft community that I've seen on the internet, that a disproportionate amount of us share (specifically "female-presenting" even though I find that controversial) neurodivergent traits.
I love ALL the comments. And I completely agree with you. I've think those of us with neurodiverse brains definitely gravitate to hobbies like this. It's soothes my brain.
Good morning Emily happy Monday morning and I loved your vlogs and you are amazing Supporter and I'm proud of you and I enjoy your channel
I loveMike Flanagan's work and The Fall of The House of Usher did not disappoint! I also grew up being read EAP from a very young age, but it was with my dad. :)
Thank you for sharing your skin care items. I found it very interesting. Will you be putting your color conversion of Catharina in your linktree? Love Mad for Minders! My favorite minder is the Nancy Drew ones. Any of the book ones really.
Yes! I just have to get it uploaded to my Google Drive. Should happen in the next couple of days.
Would you list your floss conversion for the Dutch sampler with the Lady on it? I couldn't find it on your Instagram. Thanks
On my Instagram profile click the linktree link. It's there. There's also a linktree link in this videos description box.
@@emilyc325 Thanks so much. I'm not very good with Instagram.
