I didn't hear if you said it or not, and I know you are playing it in D so you can play in the open shape, but I am hearing C# on the recording. So if you are playing barre chords and you want to match the recording move them all down one half step. We are doing a Ukulele tutorial for this song tomorrow, thanks for the awesome inspiration as always Marty!
Hi Marty. I was wondering if you could do a video on the guitar solo from comfortably numb. I know you get a lot of suggestions for new songs but I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who likes Pink Floyd on your channel. And keep it up you've helped me and a some of my friends with starting guitar. It would mean a lot if you considered it. Thank you!
Marty do you think you can do a tutorial on sweetness by jimmy eat world? I looked all over UA-cam to find one and there's nothing plus I like the way you teach so if you could please make one of be much obliged
Ah! Great video and great song choice as always! I'd love to hear/learn some songs of Neil Diamond's, such as Song Sung Blue, Play Me etc (I did see you Sweet Caroline lesson). Also, would love to hear some more John Denver (I also saw Country Roads). And... and I know I'm getting greedy here, some Dan Fogelberg. As always, thanks!!
Thanks alot for all the videos marty,....quiet i got a ask....would you make a video on how to play The Firing song from Dr House? Greetings from germany!!!
Thank you so much Marty! i found my sister's old guitar in my basement this past weekend. I put new strings on it and have learned a few nirvana songs, my favorite band of all time haha. but i just wanted to say thanks for getting me started, looking forward to more lessons. Definitely going to stick with it!
Could you make a video on how to do the little guitar riffs from The Road to El Dorado's gambling scene. I know they are not full songs, but having those riffs would be fun to use in appropriate situations.
+Dave Skillicorn thanks for the support, I'll be back better than every in 2016! In the meantime, please keep in touch with me at my official Facebook page here: facebook.com/MartySchwartzofficial/?ref=hl
Another great lesson, as always, Marty! Is it possible for you to do a lesson on Day Dreamer by Echo Movement? The song has a neat tune that I would love to hear played on a guitar! Any of the Echo Movement songs are great guitar songs, actually. So if you get a chance, could you please do an Echo Movement song?
+Molly McCune +D Vids thanks for the support, I'll be back better than ever in 2016! In the meantime, please keep in touch with me at my official Facebook page here: facebook.com/MartySchwartzofficial/?ref=hl
Is martys guitar not standard tuned? i cant get the chords to even sound right. Hes moving his hand up the fretboard and the sound gets higher instead of lower -.- 2:35
That's because the A shape barre chord he plays mutes the high E (as it should), while the the E Major shape he plays (the G) rings the high G note.. Standard tuning bro..
So just a disclaimer if you're playing along with the UB40 version it's going to sound like crap because it's actually in C# not D. The video does not mention this so I'm saving you guys from hours of frustration. So if you're playing to the recording you'll be playing C# F# and G# instead
Up strokes, up fuckin strokes, damn the lack of musical talent in this day is just like wow, howd we go from having top notch musicians to just horrible at music
How do you get your guitar to sound like marty's? I've tried in vain to get it to sound more chuggy but it never seems seems to work, tuning it down, strings, new guitar. Anyone have any tips?
I'm sorry I wasn't clear enough, i meant even when marty picks open strings it sounds more chuggy than clear. I'm trying to get that sound. thank you for your feedback!
well I am no expert, I've only recently started to learn how to play from a teacher, but regarding the sound of Marty's guitar (I know this isn't an answer) it is probably down to experience and technique and he hasn't explained it yet, maybe he will. I hope so. Listening to it again, he is hitting the barre chords perfectly, ands is muting the strings with his left fingers and pressing them down twice for each chord, and not letting any other strings make a sound apart from the ones he is using. I hope that makes some sense.
Ya Mon !!! Reggae style. I can dig it. Thanks Marty. You make a brighter day for a whole lot of people. Thanks.
I didn't hear if you said it or not, and I know you are playing it in D so you can play in the open shape, but I am hearing C# on the recording.
