I didn't hear if you said it or not, and I know you are playing it in D so you can play in the open shape, but I am hearing C# on the recording. So if you are playing barre chords and you want to match the recording move them all down one half step. We are doing a Ukulele tutorial for this song tomorrow, thanks for the awesome inspiration as always Marty!

Hi Marty. I was wondering if you could do a video on the guitar solo from comfortably numb. I know you get a lot of suggestions for new songs but I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who likes Pink Floyd on your channel. And keep it up you've helped me and a some of my friends with starting guitar. It would mean a lot if you considered it. Thank you!

Ah! Great video and great song choice as always! I'd love to hear/learn some songs of Neil Diamond's, such as Song Sung Blue, Play Me etc (I did see you Sweet Caroline lesson). Also, would love to hear some more John Denver (I also saw Country Roads). And... and I know I'm getting greedy here, some Dan Fogelberg. As always, thanks!!

That's because the A shape barre chord he plays mutes the high E (as it should), while the the E Major shape he plays (the G) rings the high G note.. Standard tuning bro..

So just a disclaimer if you're playing along with the UB40 version it's going to sound like crap because it's actually in C# not D. The video does not mention this so I'm saving you guys from hours of frustration. So if you're playing to the recording you'll be playing C# F# and G# instead

well I am no expert, I've only recently started to learn how to play from a teacher, but regarding the sound of Marty's guitar (I know this isn't an answer) it is probably down to experience and technique and he hasn't explained it yet, maybe he will. I hope so.
Listening to it again, he is hitting the barre chords perfectly, ands is muting the strings with his left fingers and pressing them down twice for each chord, and not letting any other strings make a sound apart from the ones he is using. I hope that makes some sense.
