- This was the first time we had seen a front kitchen fifth wheel so we decided to take a look at the Montana 3820FK.
Disclaimer: I am not trying to sell these rigs and I dont know a ton about them so please dont take anything said as solid facts, most are my personal opinion.
We did think that this design was pretty neat. Overall it offered lots of working space in the kitchen and we love the front window. The mid living space would provide plenty of room for entertaining, however the slides blocking the hallway and bedroom were a negative. Storage seemed somewhat limited for a rig this size and compared to our mobile suites the build quality was not great. Overall however we thought it was a really cool design that would probably work well for living in full time or just an awesome getaway cottage. :)

I fell in love with this layout. I love that every room is it's own space
Omg!!!! The best layout EVER!!!! It has the feel of a tiny home 💖
I love it when you like a normal person that can describe an rv better than a salesman!!!
Lol, so many sales people sure dont seem to know anything about their stuff. RV inspection and repair is something I do regularly so we have a good idea how most of them work, but salespeople really should do their homework more often.
Mortons, did you stop to think about their bosses being very demanding? If you worked in retail (and yes, selling cars and RVs would be part of retail), you are expected by MANY managers to "stick to the script." They don't care about the facts, they just want to follow a dumb script. Example: I used to work at one of the big 3 office suppliers and wanted to sell laptops. It was easy until the dumb corporate office gave me a warning: you are to follow the script or you will be out of here. You are to discuss only the new Core microprocessor and let the customer decide later on whether they want this or that feature." No suprise: my sales dropped. I transferred out of that department and moved to furniture. Same crap there. Sometimes the dumb script is about bragging your butt off about this "cool new feature" and ignoring everything else. For example, when the Roadtrek released the world's first Class B with a rear slide, I KNOW a few salespeople were forced to ignore all its other features and focus on bragging about the slide as much as possible. I quit retail because I was so fed up with being shackled and held back by management and corporate. It's like that everywhere if you're in retail. Just remember, it's not always the employees. Look at how their bosses treat them first before thinking they're incompetent. Some of the smartest, brightest people I've met used to work in retail. They were smart because they got out when they saw that it's a job where you're stuffed into a corner with not a shred of wiggle room. No wonder people are looking for jobs but ignore the stores that are understaffed. There's a reason for that...
LOVE this layout! The eating area with its view out the front windows of the unit seems to me to be the most efficient as well as aesthetic use possible for that space. The steps leading up to the kitchen which overlooks the rest of the layout seems logical and gives everything a flowing and natural residential feel...
This is the RV we have, and we love it. It's roomy enough for my two grown sons and their kids and wives to come camping with us on occasion. We traded our new Grand Design Solitude for this one the minute I laid eyes on that kitchen. I'm able to make meals and be a bit separated from the crowd in the living room, but still able to join in the conversation. We travel mostly just the two of us and our three dogs. This is our favorite RV we've ever owned.
Yes one on my wife and I's we are looking at list. Love that you can have the option to replace the kitchen U shape booth to dinette seating.
Wow, thanks for showing.
386fk Palamino Columbus has front kitchen model as well. We love ours. Two 50 inch tv's, stack washer and dryer, 5 slides, auto leveling system, microwave/convection oven.
I'm in love with this one!!!!
We just bought one this weekend in NH at camping world in Conway wicked big unit and we love it .
WOW I loved it now that's a nice fifth wheel and a real nice size kitchen I love when you walk up the steps and you could still look down in to the living room
Good job on filming What a Beautiful trailer some people make me dizzy when they're filming
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Terese Iervasi I like the way the sink looks down over the living room, too! I can cook & wash dishes while the babies play on the living room floor with their daddy.
I love this concept!
Thanks for sharing your walkthru :)
We bought this fifth wheel last year and we love it !!!
Having the kitchen up front is so nice and it stays cool nicely. Although our Bassit hounds struggled a bit going up the stairs to the kitchen but now they are experts ❤
We did but a dog ramp for them for entering the rig which we leave at the back steps.
To answer a couple of your questions ..yes the bed lifts up and when the slides are in you can only access the bathroom and hallway. But I can access the kitchen but not my 6'1 230 lb. Hubby ..
Honestly it's a really nice 5th wheel ..
Nancy Manera do you mind telling me the cost? We are shopping for our first RV to live in full time right now.
Interesting Layout hope to see more like it.
Very slick! I don't have one as large nor as new but a 2006 Terry 330FKDS (front kit/double slide). It does us well at this time, not being full timers being the 33ft with the king bed in the rear with it's own door, shower/sink in the center, open to the hallway with pocket door leading to the living room/kit/dining room and then accordion door for the bath/bath separation. Shitter is in it's own pocket with swinging door, noting the way that door slides is a very nice idea oppose to ours.
These new coaches are certainly much more thought out than the earlier years, as close to the 06 to an, example, 16.
We do love the front kitchen and rear bed. The storage in the Terry's are superb and plenty. We still have space in it, even when we were on our 2 1/2 week adventure
Super nice. I like it very very much.
Love this layout. Still like the quality of a DRV and would love this layout in a DRV! Nice video
Great tour Tom!! Happy Palm Sunday...........
Thanks Don! :)
Love my 2015 Montana 3440RL
I really like that design.
I think the Montana's are some of the best built 5th wheels, many have the 4-season package for insulation, etc. Having the kitchen up front is nice. I've not seen that setup before. I also like having the living room in the front. Great and informative video!!
Sweet!I need to start going to Rv Events Shows!
Love this model.
Definitely like the front kitchen
Wow how the other half live, very nice
I like it! I must have one!
Exactely what i am looking for...love it
SCK TV .
I love this .. very nice
oh my God I love it
Love. This
Love it!
I like this design
this is the 5th wheel we are looking at
Nice!
Great video. Thank you.
This is one of the better FK models. Others have a very awkward and poorly layed out FK. One thing I absolutely hate, and this goes for 99% of all RVs, is their use of standard cabinet doors for areas where two doors would be better. See @ 7:01 . Higher end units have less of this cost saving cheapness. But, as you can see, they do it too. Two doors or three little raised lip shelves, on each side of the door for rolled towels, would have been much nicer. The newer version of this model will see the bed slide exteneded to include the vanity, and the door to the bathroom. Depending on how they reconfigure the bathroom we'll see either a larger shower or dual vanity. We'll likely see bathrooms similar to those in the new 3810 series for the first model revision. A dual vanity could come in futher revision when the dinette is moved to the door side allowing the rest of the kitchen to move forward 20-30 inches. This change will enable the living room to moved forward as well. Thus the bathroom can be enlarged to include a double vanity and larger shower. These are exciting times in the RV industry. We're seeing fantastic new technology, features, and ever expanding interiors like never before. Of course if you own or operate an RV park or campground, these expanding homes on wheels are taking up more and more room. Unless you have the means to improve site conditions, this is becoming an issue with more widebody rvs with deeper slides. Relatives of mine reduced one row by four sites, on the full hookup side, when they had to redo the utilities, on that row, three years ago. They offset the lost income from those sites by charging 33% more than the narrower sites. Once word got out about these wider sites they were and continue to be booked out for over two years. This spring they're redoing another row because demand and feedback is so great. These sites now typically have couples rather than families. Retirees and couples like this quieter section. And my cousins have seen a drop in electrical usage on that row thanks to four fewer rvs and new RVs having full LEDs. They're currently trying to buy the neighbors house and property to add a family side to the park with a pool, clubhouse, and sport court so they can make the existing side all larger sites for today's RVs. Seems it a great time to own an RV park/campground. So long as rv storage facilities remain somewhat affordable and financing continues to include 20yr loans, more campgrounds are needed to fill the growing need.
Ok. I got a little too chattie.
Cheers

G up
Pretty nice but I prefer the front living models. Saw one recently where the bedroom was also raised and a golf cart could be parked underneath the bed from the rear. Thought that was a great idea.
I like the kitchen dinette layout out
I LOVE this! Too bad we just bought a toy hauler last year
jmfrmr toy hauler is a better choice in my opinion
When I get a front living kitchen and dining in the middle Makes way more sense
Very good intell
I rented one near Tampa,Fl in Dec 1999 ad it had the kitchen in the 5th wheel. Have not seen another until I saw this video. I loved it,I thought it was the best layout. Glad to see it available
I have seen one other one in an alfa fifth wheel with the front cap that lifts up to expose a window... Probably late 90's model. Making old designs new again!
InjunOne b
We bought a 2017 Montana with Front living room..and rear bedroom. It's divided up nicely..more like an apt
Planning on full time after we get our house ready to rent
The front living space sure is nice! Good luck going full time! Its awesome :)
Very nice lay-out thats what I would like to buy if I have the finance living room entrance is always first
yes it is i watch your videos because you got my dream house
:) Lol Thanks
Nice video for 2019
Thanks!
nice kitchen nice dinette spot be really nice parked near a virw
Love this layout! They should put interior blinds in front window...the ones in between the pane of glass.
That would be so great! Probably pretty hard tho because its a curved window. There was a blind above that could pull down.
Mortons on the Move it's gorgeous!!!!
I was thinking about that window; maybe cover it with peel-stick clear when traveling?
i would do a folding table in the kitchen. love this one
Great idea!
I like it i want this one
Gorgeous ! I think I see your electric pulse issue- over your shoulder there @:35 up in that cabinet , actually looks like on the other side too see the coach below your forearm. Believe it or not nasty spirits exist and the strong ones pack a big electrical punch. Usually I wouldn't say anything I am a Deacon and I love looking at 5th wheels trailers etc.. Well one day I was on an RV dealership website in Texas and man the photos had some crazy images that well.. were no supposed to be there. So they come loaded this way sometimes- but it seems it was just passing thru- amen!!! Beautiful though enjoy!
I want one.
Great video tour. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Also FYI the table turns for easy access from the fridge side 😎
Nice purse!
We walked through this one @ a RV show in our area. Loved it! But...I was wondering how hot it would get up there while cooking & then adding sunshine coming through the window. I know our front living room (with electric fireplace) gets several degrees warmer than the rest of the unit. Just a thought.
Good point, it also has a huge skylight in the kitchen that would let lots of heat in... not sure why they did not put a fantastic vent up there.
The RamblingRoost b
Most have vent with high speed exhaust fan in ceiling, pulls heat out nicely. Remote operated as well which is nice.
Just need some pull out canopies on the outside.
My slides when I park overnight take me a whole fifteen minutes total with leveling to get done. I start heating my tanks and checking other features since I can do it through my wireless remote. If you have an older model it might be time to upgrade.
Yeah, the people with negative comments are still in tents....
Pull up....push a couple buttons. It does it for you fucking idiots...lol
Is amazing how must space they find in this rv why can build house like that
With this design, how easy is it to make lunch while your traveling? Do you have to take the slide out to do anything? What a gorgeous layout though!!
Cool camper
Curious if the majority of the weight would be up front as well. Love the design though.
Thats a good question, I have no idea what the weight distribution looks like. Most of the storage is towards the rear and maybe thats why.
That is nice with the kitchen up in the front, not sure about the bathroom door though.
The bathroom door seemed a little flimsy, but it was nice to be able get by it when open.
we have been in this model as well several times. and the only downside I saw to this kitchen is the placement of the fridge in relation to the table. they bang into each other and unless you are a child it is difficult to get into the table from the fridge side of the table. and as he pointed out the sides of the bed are tight but it's an amazing layout overall.
Ah...yes I agree then I thought about a folding table there.
Is it possible to switch out the pullout sofa for a desk? Where is the washer and dryer?
DUD!E!!!! You're GORGEOUS as hell! Your wife is sooo LUCKY!!!!
Wouldn't work for our needs. But it's nice to see the difference floor plans.
Beautiful congrats
The second door is there for the quickest possible bathroom accessibility to prevent tracking dirt throughout the RV.
My brother has a sandpiper with a similar layout
Where did you find this music track? name? Thanks!!
What brand of trailer you live in?
you have a much better put together trailer than that been looking at moble suits ever sence they started making them, cant aford one. i had rather have a wore out drv than anything else new. been through all of them factories that is.
Oh were not shopping, it would take a lot to get us out of our current rig, but it is fun to look at the new layouts!
Front window will constantly be covered with bugs that you can look at while eating.
Maybe needs an easily removable slide up screen for traveling?
I'm okay with that. It's cleanable.
Unless you put ceramic coating on the window :)
What is the price of that fifth wheel you just demonstrated on your video and what year is it
I love this rev tour but I have a question where do the people drive
Queen Isabella it’s a trailer...you pull it with a truck.
I've never seen the front kitchen on a fifth wheel. It's a neat take on design. I'd be afraid the front being higher up would also be hotter as well.
Your probably right, on the other hand any cooking heat is already up there and can be vented..
I like the setup but would be interested if they had the same design with a bunkhouse. Maybe a 40' to 45'. Love it though
Is the dinette convertible into a bed?
we have a 30 foot fifth wheel and i think it has 90% of the usable space inside that this one has, jmho. also for a 40 foot fifth wheel this has much less outside storage than our 30 foot, just fyi, thanks for the review
I kinda felt the same, they had lots of interior, but maybe not so great storage. (We are 33 feet)
Looks good! Price???
Bri- B thanks will shop for a good deal here in North Carolina area
Does he come with the camper??? Hot damn
What do you do for money in order to travel full time.. My wife and I would love to do this
Zane Davis I wonder to
I would want to have 100k of annual income before this would be feasible for me
I think this is ok.i like the seat in the shower but I am looking for a few particular things and am not looking for new or fifth wheels
Wauw a beauty
Gotta point this out as no one has mentioned it. What happens when you score a back-in space with a fabulous view? With this layout, that view is enjoyed only when in bed. The front kitchen, while novel, gives you a view of the road. I give designers points for trying something new. However, if I score a spot with a choice view, I don't want to sleep through it only. I'd like to enjoy it during the day too. Know what I mean? (Motorhomes, naturally, have the ability to pull in nose first should the situation warrant.)
Thats a good point, Our living room / office usually points towards something awesome... in fact i have a pretty amazing office view right now! :)
I just wish they weren't so shy about telling us the price. I don't like when you have to call in and ask. I understand prices vary depending what you want but a basic price would be nice
That is true, In any future walkthroughs we will try and get a price as shown.... if they will give it to us.
Msrp when it first came out was around 90-95k pre tax. with that paintjob included in that adds about 8k. we paid about 74k because it was during a camper expo
The thing about price though is they do 20 year loans. Which means even that 150k luxury rig is about 625 a month, which is cheap for full timers because mine is nicer than any home I've ever had and damn well easier to maintain. I'd love a floorplan like this.
They won't cuz then they lost the chance to talk to you and make u like them over the phone. Mind F you into comimg down and blah blah. Yea I'm a bunrt out sales asshole.
Will my 2016 f350 diesel pull this?
Depends on how its equipped but it should... Better check the weights tho.
I want one but will never get the money to buy one :(
I love the kitchen and living area, but didn't love the bedroom.

"This is the Montana 3820 FK, and the FK stands for FUCKIN KOOL!!!"
I love the idea of having a second door. I had s man come into my rv after my husband went to work. We had lived there for 3 yrs. so felt comfortable but a man walked in and sat down and was talking to my dogs. I was like holy crap who’s that?, well he was a druggie on a high and calling me Ivy. I said can I help you?, he said well I am looking for my brother. I said you know what we just got here last night. You should go ask office. I kept my cool and he left while the whole time he had his hand in his backpack. He has my husbands drill case in his other hand. Later that night he pulled s gun on a man in a wheelchair. Needless to say. I am scared. Ow. Always lock my door and just wised up to not get comfortable
رائع جدا
هل يتوفر في الشرق الاوسط
Were do you kids get the money to travel full time and afford this
We work very very hard at lots of jobs. Cant say we can afford a rig like this however.
Really nice for a 💑 with no kids
Hey guys, your videos are cool. I am from Brazil but I have a dream of living in the USA. I want to know what kind of driver is required to drive a car with an rv or trailher. can you help me?
Most states a regular license is all you need for an rv
@@MortonsontheMove ok thank you
Love the layout but would not work with 3 kids
Yea that would be tough...
Mortons on the Move a aww e ft
Good video.. sorry about the sound.. but.. when you do a bathroom.. always walk in and show the height for those who are 6'3 or more... they need to see the height of the showers. David
UA-cam
That the same one I'm looking at
keep looking take some time spend a little money and time. go to Elkhart and the factories you want want many of them if you see how they are made. i would rather have a 10 year old drv than anyother new. that is a fact
your 50th come to your welcome. and can you get a tv out side?
We looked at a few of these last year, but the really short ceiling in the kitchen made it feel claustrophobic ( versus a shorter ceiling in the bedroom which doesn't matter much since you're laying down). A tall ceiling in the bedroom seems like a waste of space. Look at the clearance above Tom's head in the BR vs the kitchen. And the prospect of going up and down the stairs many times a day was not desirable. I know a lot of people love this layout, but it wasn't for us.
I would agree with that, most of us are spoiled in fifthwheels with the headroom, Most class A's and travel trailers have short ceilings too tho. Shorter people may like it because all the cabinets are easily accessible
WOW, cost?
I dont think we even asked price, lol. I am guessing they list a rig like this for 80-100k .
