MAJOR UPDATE - The low-end noise is from my mic/tripod being to close to the table. It is not a common sound on the channel. It is worse in headphones (I just checked) - my advice is to watch this episode on the computer / phone.
I have an idea (and a basic sketch) of a new campaign. I called it "people of the trail". My concept is that instead of a settlement the survivors would be always the the move in wagons. They would be searching for a very elusive "light on the end of darkness". The concept involves changing landscapes and ecology (once they move out of the initial zone, no more lions to hunt). Also the nemesis fight would serve as story elements to define (or give the option to choose) paths to be taken. Also each "zone" would heve some specific hunt events. I would love to elabore more on that, and share my notes.
Thanks Jesse for the great conversation. I always love talking about growing communities and fan made content. If anyone has questions, I would be glad to answer them.
Amazing to see such passion and creativity dedicated to improving an already wonderful game. It's got me stoked to play it again. I too love the a,b,c hunt events for variety and continuity sake. Also adding the settlement into home fights is so intuitive. If I could add/change one thing it would be the ending. Beating the Gold Smoke Knight was pure xhilaration for about 10 seconds, before consulting the book.
In my opinion, this is the most interesting videos you have made. and I love all of your KDM videos. Keep them coming! So glad I found a hidden gem today. I always thought Fen was the only one making fan-made KDM content.
Good video. Gave a nice overview over the different types of fan-created content for KDM: Optimization of existing parts of the game, new monster showdowns and completely new systems. Speaking of the first one: Like many other players, I quickly found the hunt phase to be a bit lacking and potentially frustrating. Spicing it up with some player agency and keeping it fresh through some additional stories without overhauling it completely is a great idea.
A community Storm Knight campaign?!? That's just awesome! Thank you so much for the video, I'm a long time KDM fan waiting for my gamblers chest as most of you and until now I was completely unaware thing like these exist!!!
Just pledged to the Patreon. :) Really love this game, and while I still feel like I'm not done exploring the first wave content (so it may be a year or more before I even utilize fan-created content) KD is a game I think I'll be playing the rest of my life
After finding this CCG community, I have now spent the whole day searching what cards to order. I am now piling curse, custom settlement events, tracks of death, environments, overharvest and vermin. I still havent even opened my big box that has all the current expansions. And am waiting for GCE and all the new expansions that are coming sooner or later : D Thanks for this video! off to spend my money to mpc xDD
Great video, I love all the community edition stuff. Oh and btw, we could hear the microphone rattle every time you knocked the table, it was quite annoying, maybe try and adjust that if you can for future videos.
I would love to see a video from you on this game about how you went about building the minis? What material, guides (if any)? I f you had any help with them and just the steps and processes you took? From a prospective buyer of the game I know that's the biggest hurdle for me hitting that buy button and with there not really being a lot of good sources for this out there (that I've been able to find, if you have any please do recommend) I think it would be a great niche for you to cover. I love your content and can't wait to see what you do further with this game
There was a weird thumping sound from time to time in the video, haven't seen anyone mention it so thought I'd share! (or maybe it's my headset?!) Otherwise very informative video, I haven't looked at the community edition yet but I just might now!
Yep - my tripod was to close to the table - my shotgun mic is posted on the tripod - so bumps made a vibration. I’m not happy about it XD - I ordered a new stand and mount to fix it immediately.
Someone had mentioned about the Storm Knight AI being broken, so I wanted to respond despite not being able to find the comment. 1. My guess is this was the first release, which while not perfect was workable. Luckily, in November we released a new and vastly improved version that was quite heavily tested. 2. Why not come to me earlier with exact issues? This is exactly why the CCG (and all developing teams) have beta phases so people can jump in and give feedback. Look at Lion Knight, it needs reworking, so even Poots messes up and hopefully proper feedback can be accounted for. 3. I do apologize that you printed your deck and felt it needed to be trash. I too reprinted with the new version and trashed the old. I do recommend before printing, have a read through the AI and rules to make sure you get what you expect. Everything released is free to peruse. We can only make better products if we get the feedback needed as we make them.
I haven't played K:DM yet, but seeing stuff like this definitely makes me want to find someone with it if possible and try it out. Slowly getting to know my local community a bit better and getting to play more games. I think my biggest challenge as a solo gamer is also really get into video games which cuts into BG time.
I mean the Phoenix is hard but have you ever been infinity kicked by the Butcher if its last AI card is Kick 😂 Anyway its really awesome to see some videos that explore lesser exposed parts of the boardgame community. Loved seeing all this really interesting and really well put together modded stuff!
Thanks, Tommy & Jesse for the excellent info. Tommy, you've got another Patron. Blame Quackalope. :) One quick question. You guys mentioned something about changing up the Phoenix fight. I've had a quick poke around and can't find anything, would you mind letting me know where it is?
So much energy!!!! From both of you. I definitely not agree with some creative choices, but this is modular so you can basically add or remove portions of it. I just wonder if so much work has been put into "KDM" to make it a different game. Why not to create your own game?
Jorge Leon It’s on the list, but for me it’s about having a strong solid idea that gives me the energy (which as you see I can have a ton.) we have a couple ideas, but seeing if they have legs.
ahahah both of you guys look super nerdy excited together... Take this as a compliment. This type of energy and passion is what actually drags people to this type of fan made content and channels. You know there is always concern of usage of intellectual property so please be careful. Im sure you are not making "profit" but some people will consider that you are ... In regards a new game, I just dont necesarily agree with having classes in KDM I actually believe that goes against the spirit of the game, but I new game with classes in the KD setting could be really appealing.
I am really looking forward to your thoughts on Tracks of Death. I borrowed some ideas from 7th Continent for that with the changing events and cards getting replaced. The idea being that the survivors were changing the landscape as they went along. There is a lot of secret stuff in there to discover too. Super secret. ~maximo1984
Answering your final call to action here's my 2 cents , we were fighting the WL, went critical hitting it and got the Eye, prob is the part we hit was unrelated with the head and that made little sense..and again also gaining a random WL resource we got the Mane and then actually hit the mane and were wondered what to do... I wish the resource decks were more coherent in general ( 2 eyes for instance) and linked to the part you actually hit the Monster. Some HL already work that way, thinking of you TAIL but again, maybe those specific ones should ONLY be gained when hitting a specific location and not gained randomly leaving the specific hit location crit "empty" or ending up with 2 tails...
the components not only look good but they look like they are well made looking very professional. That is hard to do, cheaply, on your own from home. Do they sell the kits already professionally made?
found it, i must have missed that part of the video. lets take the tracks of death for example. yes it is nice to have all the cards separated in decks for easy play but each of the three in MPC cost the same even though some have more cards than others do. so my question is there (can they make) an all in 1 link that will put all the cards in one set?
@@SpectreTheHorseman yeah i assumed as much based on the name and watching the video. you can expect me to show it off on my channel once they come in. ill make sure i add the link.
Any chance you guys could do some sort of combined MPC decks? A deck with just 2 settlement cards is a bit wasteful. Wouldn't mind a version of Trial of Champions with all the core game FA,SFA,disorders taken out to save some money as well. I'm assuming it's not a good idea to start editing the existing decks.
