I've spent half of my childhood in Swiss childresn hospitals due to my birth defect special needs condition and I wish Switzerland would have mascots visiting hospitals - but we don't until today:( Only clowns.
Seeing people dressed in fursuits/mascot suits as a kid is what drove me to become a furry myself. Moments like this, seeing the excitement in their eyes, are one of the few times I truly experience the joys of childhood again.
I've found this fandom in a similar way: Way back in 2006, I was on vacation in Florida, went to a home game of the NHL-Panthers there. I happened to be in the right spot at the right time to allow for not only one but a few interactions with their team mascot, Stanley C. Panther. Coming from Switzerland, where mascotting isn't a thing, this was something I absolutely didn't plan for, nor didn't expect, yet it left a lasting impression with me. I had already enjoyed watching Disney's theme park characters interacting with kids, I learned what major league sports mascots do in terms of spreading joy both on and off the field, in their cities and communities. I began to research more about mascotting and didn't know something like the Furry fandom even existed before I've finally found the videos of Kijani Lion from the Seattle area. From that moment, I knew what my destiny was - doing the very same: Spreading joy through character performance, dressed up in a mascot-like animal costume!
While some bad eggs try to use our fandom's name as a scapegoat, _this_ is truly what being a furry is about. It's a hobby we enjoy and we hope to spread that joy to others. We're just some local folk who dress up in custom mascot suits to have fun.
I'm so happy furries are being accepted and welcomed like this in Pittsburg! :) If only it was everywhere else, even the internet. The kids look so happy too! To be seeing giant fluffy animals you can interact with is so heart warming

I love how our community is so wholesome when kids come around. People inflict us to their children as weird creeps, but these parents actually don’t, and even go out of their way to let their kids have fun with us! This has restored my faith in people who know about the community.
The only time I ever met a fursuiter was when I was 7, I had been in the furry fandom for a good few months, and my parents took me to some carnival. We saw someone with a REALLY COOL german shepherd suit. Everyone thought they were just a mascot but we actually had a nice conversation, and now we see them regularly (my parents became good friends with them)
It’s cool that you’ve met one! Me and my friend also have been in the furry fandom for a while, and tbh I’ve never met someone else with a fursuit before, but it would be nice meeting one!
The first fur suitors I ever saw was at a medieval festival last month, there were three, two adults and their child with the fur suit head, feet and paws, it was adorable! There was also a lady with a dragon puppet on her shoulder in the furry style, it was so fun!
I usually hear negative things about furriest but I've been curious and watching these sort of videos and I'm so glad a majority of those negative things aren't true. It's literally just a way of expressing yourself, dressing up and having fun. This video is really sweet and the furry community looks so fun and welcoming so I hope more positivity surrounding the community goes around. Thank you for posting this!!

I'm coming up on my 10th year as a furry soon, and its hard to overstate how much of a positive influence furries are nearly everywhere we go. We love to have a good time and we're always happy to spread some joy :)
As a fursuiter myself who interacts with kids myself, this truly makes me smile. I have a fursuit that looks like Charlie from All Dogs Go To Heaven. I had a kid run up me screaming "CHARLIE IS REAL!! LOOK MOMMY!!" and this video reminds me of that moment. Really fun when fellow furries represent our fandom like this!!

these kind of videos make me tear up, when i was small my sister showed me her EX's fursuit, i fell in LOVE and started to learn more about the fandom over the years. thats why these vids make me tear up, just seeing the child's pure joy when seeing these fursuits hits my heart

The children are happy and view it as nothing more than a big plushie animal. Some people are trying too hard to get offended lol.

i suggest to go to local conventions! i live very close to a super small convention and go there nearly every year and there’s some super cool suits!
I recently went to a convention, and there was like 20 furries. (That I saw) most were partial fursuits but I saw like 5-7 full suits

I think 0:27 was the most wholesome scene, the tiger really seemed chill and cool and wasn't overdoing it, and the "Oh, hello!" Was adorable. Really nice to see the good side of furries.
Kids r the best to interact with as a character. They view everything as fun n exciting. Unlike adults who basically say 'Wow. Neat. Moving on if u don't wanna do a tiktok with me.'
Unlike the adults who will cuss you out and call you a freak for wearing a fun colorful costume of a fluffy animal :p Ive seen people disgusted in the comments on similar videos like this. The children are happy and view it as nothing more than a big plushie animal. Some people are trying too hard to get offended lol.

Yknow, I dont understand the idea of fursuiting, not my cup of tea, but disneyland has held a large part of my childhood and I feel like making others childhood just as good makes me happy.
