Just saw the movie on Netflix. I have one question: why are Koreans so good at making movies? This movie was so good that I could not contain my enthusiasm while watching it. The casts, cinematography, music, and costume were out of this world - one of the best movies of the year, in my opinion.
Because the government invests in korean entertainment, they have funds for it. If you have funds to make films, anyone can do it. I mean, atleast if we have the support. The main reason why there are no films like this, because it is unlikely get supported by the investors.
I thought we were getting a backstory of some badass mystery girl who knows how to put an end to this whole zombie situation but instead we got a backstory of the badass villain who started it all as a revenge for her family and I enjoyed every minute of it. I definitely need to rewatch the show before the new season comes out to freshen up my memory though
Exactly what I thought lol. Thought she was a badass here to exterminate the zombies when she appeared at the end of Season 2....but NOPE! Can't wait for Season 3. We still haven't gotten a release date!
@@tyronenelson1349How exactly is she stupid? I mean you can disagree with her actions, but stupid it is not. And you know she isn't exactly sane right, she is a little girl that saw her entire clan butchered, tried to resurrect them but got horde of zombies instead, goes to the man who sent her father to his death for help, who turns our is the man who framed her dad, and then she finds out her father has been alive this whole time, throw in the fact that she was constantly sexually assaulted repeatedly. I mean dude go through that and retain your sanity.
Such a tragic backstory and an amazing establishment of how much Ashin is a badass that single-handedly took an army down, and caused the events of season 1.
@@heavyspoilers Thoughts on why Ashin didn't do anything after her revenge failed by the good guys at the end of season 2 (saving the baby prince)? As the there's time jump 7 years (if i remember correctly) what Ashin do on those 7 years peaceful times?
Such interesting moral arguments, can’t we just agree it’s a great show with really good character setups and deserves Netflex to green light season 3? I think it’s great that it shows anyone can be a villain given the circumstances. Is it wrong, yes and it’s a show, just enjoy the theatre. I love how they depict the complex web of politics.
Ashin did not feed the Commander to the zombies. Min Chi-Rok went to the souther region with his men to help with the Imjin Wars. The man she fed to her family was one of the 2 guys who would take turns raping her. The 1st one she had killed and turned. She saved this guy for last. Min Chi Rok plays an important role in season 2. He is the head of the Royal Commandery or the equivalent of homeland security and carried out the investigations against the Queen. And Ashin's bow training, while it contributed to her strength and character, was mostly to improve her hunting skills because it's implied that all these years she has kept her zombie family fed with rabbits, deers, and boars. She then laments that no matter what she fed them, they wouldn't finish any of it since they prefer humans.
Now it makes sense I asked the same question above yeah it doesn't look like the commander also we all saw the commander left the city with army so yeah it all make sense TY for pointing it well done ! edit: after I watched it again I'm not so sure though the guy it doesn't have the same voice nor the same body or character facial of both rapist ! pls check again & keep me inform 50:31 check this moment in the real movie was thesse two the rapist who Ashin killed at the end cuz not sure if the guys at the right is the same dude 01:19:46
@@ascendedbro1828 probably she found a barn & the she chained them while they R dead before they rise, but hiw they were all that time in a state of zombie without geting food since they don't eat deer lol
The actress who plays Ashin, Jun Ji Hyun, is one of the most popular actresses in S. Korea. She has been for many years so that's why so many people freaked out when she was shown at the end of Season 2. The writer of the series has said she only thought of one actress when considering the role of Ashin - Ms. Jun. She basically raises the series to another level with her presence.
In a world where we have media that has to tell us characters are strong and cool, it's nice to see a character whose actions show me how cool they are. Ashin is a beast and easily one of my favorite characters.
@@Tony-kj7ui no. Because when Ashin went into the camp its 1593-1594. And when Min Chi-rok left to battle Japanese for the 2nd invasion its around 1596-1597. Its between 1592-1598 Imjin War.
I don't believe the commander is who she fed to her village. The commander is Min Chi Rok (who we saw in Season 2 as the commander who carried out the investigation into the pregnant women being held in the Queens private residence), he left the military base before Ashin took the place down. I think season 3 will see their relationship be a focus point, as well as her relationship with Lee Chang as he's the ancestor of the Joseon king who promised her father governmental status but never followed through. I'm not sure if we'll see much more from the Haewon Cho clan as the 3 main members are dead, the Queen, Cho Hak Ju, and Beom-Il (who was responsible for the 15 Jurchen's deaths and was killed by Lee Chang in season 1). I think the show is looking to create a sense of grey morality. Ashin can be seen as both a protagonist of her own journey, but a antagonist of the series as a whole. Same for people like Min Chi Rok who is well intentioned in Seasono 1 & 2, and technically is purely trying to stop an all out war here, but at the horrific sacrifice of Ashin's clan.
I think the commander already told Ashin the fact. that’s why she was able to find the scroll. And I think he and Ashin had the same thing in mind. And he already knew about the zombies and the resurrection plant after the tiger zombie incident. I think in season 3, it will be about the role of the commander in the story.
Great comment you have! :) Also, I believe the Queen is still alive. As far as I can remember, they did not find her body in the lake. I think she may be hiding somewhere, waiting to avenge her throne as well.
You forgot the part where Ashin as a child used the resurrection plant on the villagers, that’s why she knew how to use it and understood how the plant worked out.
Ashin didn't know about the zombie fact using the resurrection plant, she thought they'd just come back to life.. Then how she tied up all the villagers alone?
@@sanjidashahid9314 maybe she tried on one body first then seeing the effects tried on others if they have a different reaction but tying them first before reviving them.
Ashin captured what it means to be a Femme Fatale - training everyday to avenge her family, leaving wherever she walks in ruins. An amazing prequel and season 3 will really make us root for Ashin's revenge on the world or to our main heroes to stop the spread of the resurrection plant.
hell, I am not rooting for Ashin. She is psycho, hell bent on avenging her family. I rooted for her in the prequel, until the very end when she feeds the hungry zombie horde.
@Rony Pranith We understand why she became what she is. What we’re saying is that she’s a monster still, because in the end her « revenge » is not about killing specifically and ONLY those who caused the death of her father and family, but anyone who is related to the kingsom of Joseon; women, child, elderly and innocent men alike. She wants to do the same to all of Jurchen too.
@@nansugoi5471 nope, they are very different, Sasuke was hellbent on revenge until he was magically reverted and he never paid the price(Kishimoto is a bad writer) while Ashin is hellbent on revenge, will never revert, and knows the consequences of her crimes. A true morally grey antagonist.
Everyone night not appreciate Netflix, but as a long time watcher of Korean movies it's great to see so many available to watch. Good to know I am not the only one who enjoys them.
@@TheGreatMrMagoo Regarless the genre then watch these Sweet Home, Alive, Train to busan, Peninsula, Signal (drama), Tunnel (drama), Voice123 (drama), The call (drama,) The guest (drama) and lot more
Just a quick one, she doesnt want answers because of finding her father, she wanted answers because, when she was a kid and discovered the deaths in the forest, she noticed it was the same arrow as the lord in the Joseon military camp.
Fun fact: It's true that the Jurchens were one of China's final dynasties before the Mongol conquests, and it's also true that the Jurchens became the Manchus who would create the Qing Dynasty that was China's last (or 2nd last) imperial dynasty. What ended up happening shortly after the Imjin War time period of the Kingdom series is that the Manchus bribed their way past the Great Wall, took advantage of rebelling Chinese peasants and generals, conquered Ming Dynasty China, and subsequently also gained the vassalage of Korea since Korea's Ming allies were already defeated.
They put him dodging the arrow in the cut for a reason. So they are telling the audience, even if they didnt show it in the end, that that guy eventually dodges the arrow and will be on the next episodes
He's definitely not dead. Too strong character to waste. And she's attacked the group in purpose to make a deal to destroy Koreans together or smth. Representing herself as a strong warrior to talk to the chief. And she has her plants as a strong reason to keep her alive. Otherwise it could be a suicide mission and we would never see Ashin again. She has a plan to use the tribe in her own war before destroying them as well.
That ending was brutal. I feel for Ashin too, but she is in the wrong now. I think she killed everyone involved except for the head guy that that had the soldiers killed in the woods..but Im not sure.
yea you’re right! there was a scene where she walked right past him and all his soldiers and she saw his arrow & finally put the pieces together. she’s probably going for his head also but if i’m not mistaken he’s already been killed in season 1 by the crown prince? (the guy whose head was delivered to his dad? it’s so hard to keep track of all the characters tbh l0l)
@@maddy4690 the guy with the yellow arrow and his troops were the one who killed those 15 pajeowi..meaning they are the reason why the pajeowi tribe got angry to the joseon soldiers as a result the commander used ashins tribe as a scapegoat hence they were all killed by the pajeowi..
I think it'd be interesting if Ashin and Chang became something like frenemies in Season 3. They both despise the corrupt system, having suffered the loss of their fathers and loved ones from it. But whereas Chang, as an insider to that system, believes it to be foundationally good and that it can reformed for the better, Ashin, as an outsider to that system, believes it to be fundamentally evil and wants it to be utterly destroyed. If Kim Eun-hee wanted to explore this path, I think it could make for an interesting plotline. I'm also very curious to see what kind of influence Ashin's presence will have on Chang and Seo-bi's relationship.
Such a good watch. I get why you are rooting for Ashin either way. I hope it's the redemption arch they choose for her. But it will be brilliant to see Jun Ji hyun as the big bad for once as I've only seen her in romcoms. She will be great either way cos she is one of the best actresses from South Korea. She was giving off major creepy vibes. Loved it!
Everything was perfect except the part where the soldiers forgot to use weapons as they were being attacked by the first converted zombie. I found it too convenient for them writing-wise to just easily get bitten without a fight. They are soldiers not regular citizens who tremble in fear when any form of danger comes to them. They could've swung their spears or somethin', instead they all just put their spears to the side and used their hands. That was kinda silly and painful to watch. But anyways, Jun Ji-Hyun was awesome in this!
@Rony Pranith No it isn't. The ship was actually filled with mostly nobles and they didn't know how to kill the zombie(by cutting off their heads). It has been shown that they don't die easily.
Since it was the first case, they thought it was just a guy and was not prepared for immediate action. Moreover, I think those were guards as most of the soldiers went to war. However, one of the higher official/soldier could set one zombie to fire. Some of them were being able to fight but they were killed with arrows by Ashin.
Well even in real life case we know like when thpusands of fully equipt German soldiers fled after seeing few half dead Russian soldiers who were choking blood and dying of chemical burns but still charging towrds them ,,,it was said the site was so horrifying they dropped eevrything and fled even though they outnumber them.
Having watched Kingdom: Ashin of the North, before actually seeing Kingdom(1&2). It's obvious that Asin doesn't know anything about type 2 zombies that are formed from cooking and eating the fresh of an infected person; with this type been more infectious. Had she known about this kind of zombie, I'm sure the entire kingdom would have fallen long ago. It makes sense cause at the end of her movie we see her instructing those she gives the flowers to on how to create a type 1 zombie which is way less infectious than a type 2.
This is so true! She definitely probably dosen’t know however she would have to know by season two. I can’t not see her being oblivious about it the entire time. She’s like mother of zombies I’m sure she’s studied and figured out lots of things people and the audience don’t know. Especially because word of the infection spreaded around Im sure she heard and probably realized type 2 zombies were a thing and could be made and utilized more potently as they are spreaders. Unlike the first type of zombies she unleashed.
That's a plot hole. In season 1 and 2 a bite from the infected who did not consume infected human flesh did not turn. Instead they fell ill and died naturally a few days later. Only the people who consumed infected flesh turned. That is a huge plot hole. I notice huge plot holes like this in a lot of the popular Korean flicks like all of us are dead, kingdom and alive
@@itsmesteve1081 I don't know where to begin...I think you have some serious problems in understanding...watch it again...and if you don't see the problem of what you said...you need help
@@itsmesteve1081 that's not a plot hole. The only plot hole is the fact that the tiger's bites didn't turn humans. The tiger ate an infected deer, so the tiger turned. Going by the Dongae type zombie, everyone bit by the tiger should have also turned into Zombies. The only explanation would be if it doesn't spread from animals to humans (which doesn't make much sense).
Really enjoyed this. Great cinematography, action, costumes, and an awesome lead into season 3. Interesting note, the mountain they keep referring to that's "off limits" is Beakdu Mountain or in Chinese is known as Mount Chang Bai. The same mountain Chris Pratt's student identified the eruption of in the Tomorrow War.
08:29 was one of the best, bone chilling scenes of this entire series. I paused and rewinded it so many times thinking “holy 💩 this motherfcker is CRAZYYY!” That looney smile was extraordinary acting. I’m talking Joker level GOOD! 🏆 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I’m hoping he didn’t die because I want to see more of his madness. I’m rooting for Ashin too though. She’s great!
Ashin had a very sad backstory which made me root for her as she zombified the soldiers. They took everything from her especially the commander who tricked the pajeowis into killing her entire village.
Great breakdown on the special episode. Already watched it twice. I am excited for season 3. I do think she will be a villain. Not sure if she can be redeemed. I think she is too hardened now by life but I am not going to totally write it off. If Ashin does find redemption, I think it will be by sacrificing her own life.
The soldier she fed to the zombie villagers is not the commander. If you recall, the commander (Min Chi-Rok) was called to the South before Ashin was told to spy on the Pajeowis and discovered what happened to her father. Plus he’s in Season 2 too.
It wasn't Commander Chi-rok she fed to her zombie family. It was the soldier that the Commander entrusted Ashin the day they took her in. The one who sent her to the pig's cabin (idk how to describe the place) lol Commander Chi rok was very much alive in season 1 and 2 for he is the one who investigated the case about the pregnant woment getting killed. And he and Ashin will meet again in the Season 3
Many people can be confused with the background. The timeline for S3 is on the verge of Japan's second invasion of Joseon in 1597. And the timeline for S1 and S2 is years after the invasion. It would be more helpful before watching S3 😁
Not sure when will we see more Kingdom, I know one reason for the pause in seasons is because some of the actors had to go be in other projects they were contracted for. Not sure how long they’ll take.
According to somewhere I have read (I think it was the wiki) it says they got started with filming the special episode of The crown prince recently maybe just maybe that that special episode will be released anywhere from late 2023 or sometime in 2024, and next possible (maybe) season 3 will start filming near the mid of 2024 or around 2025-2026 just maybe. They’re no word about it being cancelled.
Correction @ 7:42, he was not totally immune, towards the end of that scene, it was visible there was still a "worm" inside and moving towards his brain.
Some details that could hint to s3 1. Beom il said - are you sure theres 15 of them when min cho rok told him theres 15 dead bodies. Theres a possibility someone escaped 2. Even before talhab was assigned to be a spy , the paechowi knew that they were burning the bodies as they looked over a cloud of smoke coming from joseon. 3. SO I THINK THEY KNEW THAT IT WAS NOT TALHAB THAT KILLED THEIR BROTHERS AT FIRST. Thats why they joined the tiger hunt. The first thing they did once they found the tiger was to look for bodies. They Knew very well it wasnt the tiger. 4. Notice how the hae cho won clan knows a lot anout the flowers? It was the mean dude from the clan that suggested to use the flowers. He KNEW abt the flowers somehow. 5. My theory is that, someone escaped when boem il was killing the people looking for ginseng. Then told the paejowi what happened. Instead of killing the people in the village for KILLING THE 15 PEOPLE, theyre killing everyone because they worked for the joseon. Cause theyre traitors - thats what they were executed for. Cause they worked with joseon- the real enemy. Maybe when ashin went to aidagan, she will be accepted cause shes not a traitor, but helped disposed the joseon army. So maybe she will work together with aidagan in s3. And somehow the hae cho won clan aka boem il found out about the flowers from ashin and aidagan while fighting. Just a theory. They did say ashin gives a lot of clue on what happens in s3
@@quietmav i read an interview with min cho rok and he says to pay attention to the details in ashin. So i went ahead and watched it 2 times and rewatch s1 and s2 kingdom. Nope i didnt notice aidagans existence before
she definitely did not kill the cavalry men in the last scene. They were depicted from the start as badasses, plus we already saw the main guy dodge an arrow being shot at him.
Yeah I’m kinda in two minds about it, I dunno how she would’ve got out of it though without killing them. We know she’s still alive after the time jump so I really dunno
This is easily explained. She's from their tribe and the whole tussle could end with her offerring them revenge against Jousen using the plant. Pitting both sides against each other. the introduction of type B and C of the virus, might damper her plans tho
@@yugicourtz they weren't from her tribe. That guy on the horse was the one who butchered her villiage. Hes the one who dodged the arrow while slaughtering ppl
She's amazing. Honestly, I hope that arrow shot has something to do with turning one of them into a zombie while she steals a horse and starts circling them, manipulating their entire destruction like the conductor of a symphony before killing everything there. However, with him being such a power character, I doubt they'd kill him off that quickly. She's not stupid, so the arrow must be doing something other than what occam's razor would suggest.
@@JD-sh5dt haha I low key do too🤣 don’t think it’s possible considering how far gone crazy she is but you never know💁♀️ I could definitely see him sympathizing with her though 💁♀️ if this were to turn into a love story it would definitely take more time than this season for it to happen.. I could see him helping her heal and finding a new family.
I love both these actors. They are both veterans but i am not sure they have worked together before. I am pretty sure their chemistry would be outstanding in season 3 regardless of them working together or not. I am waiting for their new upcoming kdrama Mount Jiri. ❤️ Can hope for some romance there 🤣🤣🤣
Just saw the last episode of season 2 and in the physician's journal she wrote that the worms prefer cold temperatures but spread even more viciously in extreme heat but she doesn't know why. I hope we get more explanation on this in the next season!
At season2 final, they said that they still don't know why...so she said there is more mystery with the flower and infection. I think Season3 will be about that, and since ashin studied for 3more years after she gave it to the royal doctor, and 7more years after zombie v.2 I bet she knows that mystery and use it against the north and the south
It was not the commander who she brought to her family to feed on. The commander was with the son of the villain and went back to Hanyang. He was even the one who investigated the pregnant women incident and was one of the four survivors of the carnage in the palace together with the Prince in the last fight of season two.
I wonder how she managed to pull off the resurrection plant as a kid. All the instructions said was that the plant could bring back the dead. Not how to use the plant to bring back the dead or what state they'll be in. I mean it makes just as much sense to put the plant in there mouth Ratner than cut open the skull and place the plant in a specific part of the brain. Even if she eventually figured it out through trail and error, how did she (a small child) not die when the first family member came back as a zombie?
So these zombies do not decompose? I mean she was a little girl when she used the resurrection plant on her people, and when she fed that guy to them they looked pretty fresh to me.
Loved loved this film!! Amazing acting and very captivating revenge storyline. The scene of her feeding her family gave me literal chills. Though those must’ve been hella strong chains to withstand rust and zombies pulling against them for all those years 😂
Gotta be honest, I absolutely loved Kingdom but I don't think Ashin was verg good. It took away most of the "balance" of other plotlines that made Kingdom so good, and of course Ashin as a character is wholly unlikeable and irredeemable and I really don't believe most people like villain origin stories. Also I felt the acting wasn't very good, which was a stark contrast to Kingdom.
What the hell that commander Min Chi Rok is the guy in Kingdom season 1 and 2 whos actually helping the majesty whom i lbelieve was a good guy. But he's actually the reason why ashin is getting her revenge can't wait for them to meet again in s3.. Commander Min Chi Rok you have created a beautiful monster. :D
I was really proud of myself, introducing Kingdom to my son and his Korean girlfriend. In return, they suggested i watch Larva Island, a Korean cartoon. It is, how can i put it? Weird as fuck. Not a fair swap.
Just read Webtoons like Bastard, Pig Pen, Distant Sky and Sweet Home (the Netflix adaptation of this one is not as great as the Webtoon so just read this one as well). They give the same vibe like Kingdom and the authors are really great at story telling.
what i am curious about is what happened to the victims who were mauled by the zombie tiger since the tiger is considered as type b zombie,is it that animal zombies dont affect humans and likewise human zombies dont eat/bite animals
I don't think the tiger is counted as type B zombie yet; because the tiger eats the deer ( which is type A zombie) directly, not the meat from the zombie deer (type A zombie) had eaten. Therefore, it should fall in type A zombie category. And the human, who was bitten, could not turn into zombies immediately. Their bodies just carry on the virus.
@@ranng6817 yeah, that is the same thing. Here to make it simpler, the zombie deer haven’t infected ( or eaten) anyone yet right !? The tiger eats that zombie deer before it bites anyone ( or other animals), so the tiger should be in the same type as the deer. BUT IF the deer had bitten other animals or human, and the tiger ate those infected deer food, the tiger would become type B zombie which is contagious through biting. Remember in Season 1, those contagious zombie villagers didn’t eat the King zombie directly, they actually ate the King zombie’s victim ( leftover corpse). That’s why they develop into type B zombie.
I think I'm more looking forward to Ashin meeting with Seo-bi than with Lee Chang. Chang is the Crown Prince, and we already know how she feels about them, but Seo-bi is the one who has the ability and knowledge to find a cure, thus putting an end to Ashin's bloodbath. I think Seo-bi could be her real threat. If S3 portrayed two strong female actors, it would make the season very interesting. I really liked Ashin of the North, it helped you understand her character and the root of her pain, which then makes you feel torn whether you should take for her or not. Fact remains, even though she kills out of sadness and pain, she kills nonetheless. We'll have empathy for her character in S3, but ultimately, I think Chang and his crew will always stand for what's right and she's too far deep into her madness to stray from her path of vengence. She'll make an amazing enemy, and I can't wait to see the impact her presence will have on Chang and Seo-bi, and the rest of the company. For those hoping for a Chang x Ashin love plot, I really hope not. They're two opposites, fighting for different causes. He is a Crown Prince and having her on a throne next to him probably wouldn't be well regarded by the people or administration, given her past of being a murderer. If anything, I think the crown Prince has more chances of developping an affection atmosphere with Seo-bi.
Theory: “Battle of Piesa-gun” A hundred years ago the Jurchens (Pajeowi clan) plotted a massacre for Asians to conquer them all and the rest of the world. This only became possible when the Haewon Cho clan from Joseon sold them a very confidential information about a potential bioweapon which can be found in a place within the border of northern korea called Pyesa-gun. (The resurrection plant) Fortunately, the worldwide genocide stopped when one clan from Jurchen (Seongjeoyain clan) chose to betray their people for a better cause. They secretly allied with Joseon kingdom and fight against the Jurchens. They won that war and called that event the “the battle of Piesa-gun”. After the war, to avoid another serious threat in future, they approved the following laws: 1. Entering Piesa-gun was permanently prohibited by the king. 2. The battle of Piesa-gun and the related information of the bioweapon were erased from the history by the scholars. 3. Seongjeoyain clan awarded an alliance and promised them a permanent citizenship and position in government. 4. The Haewon Cho clan should be punished by killing all their generations but later, the king lowered their sentence to only removing them from the royal government. Hundred years have passed, the kingdom ruled by incompetent rulers, and the promise for Seongjeoyain clan didn’t happened. Later they were discriminated and treated by the government not as an ally but peasants and burdened by heavy taxes. Corruption is everywhere. Until the time comes for Prince Chang and Ashin of the North.
Heavy Spoilers- you might know by now, but before season 3 goes into production, the creators were talking about a “Side-quel” about the Crown Prince Chang. If you know more, please let us know! Great vids!
Initially in Kingdom season 1 they show that the one who was bitten by the king brought back from the dead by the resurrection flower dies after his body turns cold... In season 2 the same happens with Minister Cho Hak-ju, but in the special episode Ashin the disease is spread by the bite....
watch it again, heaps of dead people stay dead. She murdered a dozen or so people and turned them and they in turn killed everyone else. You did not see the whole camp turn into zombies and she was able to kill them with one fire.
So glad I found this! You nailed it perfectly! I've been waitingfor season3 and this special episode *chef's kiss* You described everything to a T! Can't wait to chat about season 3! So ready! *likes & subscribes*
I like Ashin to meet Cheng, and I'm sure they most likely will meet, just wondering what would she thought of Cheng since he's really different than the rest.
Bro me too!! Because if you think abt it she’s never met anyone like him before bc her whole life royals have looked down upon her family. I hope in some way he can help her heal
Dang, I love this origin movie, definitely one of the best Action Horror movie this year, arguably better in some elements compare to Army of The Dead imo. I was expecting that Ashin was a Chinese spy or an outsider, turn out it's even more sad as she & her people basically an outcast clan. Once again truly have some similarities with Ada Wong RE series, I mean Ashin is literally a spy too, she also use & trade "bioweapons." Although this is definitely the much darker version, one that have no signs of goodness in the end, full on revenge. Based loosely canon RE manga, Ada Wong herself was actually a orphan who survived in a warzone homeland in Asia. The differences here clearly here Ashin completely turned evil after all the fvkked up revelations, while Ada Wong received a semblances of good in humanity via Leon S Kennedy in RE2... IN CONCLUSION, WE NEED KINGDOM SEASON 3!!! hehehe
My wife and I just finished watching both seasons and the Ashin movie. Watching your video affirmed that we watched everything in order. This Korean zombie content is awesome! I totally agree with your comments in this review. While the leads in the two seasons deserve their props, the actors playing the zombies also did a great job. My wife was freaked out as their bodies contorted to a standing position when they turned from human to zombie. A part of me also wants Ashin to become a protagonist in later episodes, but I agree with you in hoping she stays psychotic and evil! That would be better.
Part of me wishes she could put down her revenge and find peace in a better place. But the other part of me who understands what happened to her family, her poor father, her village? Let's just say if she ran out of wood to burn that unjust world down, I'll be there to hand her a match.
There is no way Ashin killed Aidagan and all his soldiers. There were more of them than the number of arrows she had plus and they were on horses. He wasn't scared at all and seemed amused by her challenging him.
This movie had the similar plotline of a series called My Name (i think that is the title) it follows the same plot it. There is an estrange father-daughter relationship ( where the mother is not present). The father gets kill/betrayed by his own gang and the daughter pleads for revenge only to find out that the gang was the one who kill him, so then she gets revenge on everbody and wipe the whole team out.
@ChokiPlays do u think that's possible to settle down for a talk at this point when he is the one who abruptly kill ALL her family ? The commander is the brain behind the plot but he is actually the doer. I think the pieces of human bodies (food for her family zombies) we see at the end of season 2 might be all those Pajeowis she had killed too. Who knows? Just my speculation. Let's see in Season 3.
I'm rooting for crown prince Lee Chang. She should go after Commander Min Chi Rok for his wrong doing, but she's too cruel to want to kill everybody in Joseon and all Jurchens.
Yes, the one who made such a decision is the one to blame and the Commander Min Chi Rok should be punished and held responsibility for his selfish decision as well. I understand, in his position, he would not want to put Joseon in risk by fighting a war with the Pajeowi clan. (since Joseon's military was not that strong compare to the Pajeowi's fighters, who were trained since birth, at that time) But he should have made a lot of more wiser decision rather than sacrificed his subordinate clan to just avert the war. yeah, to save his people and nation, he indirectly kill all those innocent villagers of her. I guess that might be the same thing if u look from her point of view. She lost all her people and so-called family to her just to make peace between those two parties. It was very unfair to her clan. You said she was too cruel but I don't think so. She was just blinded by her deep pain that she couldn't see that she was doing the same thing to other innocents as well. (That's not counted the soldiers who raped her. They deserved that.:)
@@sumayakhan6529 Even if she was, i find it really interesting that they will teach her how to read chinese instead of hangul. It was unnecessary for her to learn chinese characters furthermore she was a daughter of Jurchen butcher which means no one will teach her.
her father is a spy & the village chief, so there could be a knowledge of writing & reading passed down to her in which she did (as she able to read the warning inside that abandoned temple). Also, she could also got some more education from the Border camp, so she could work like an actual spy/scouting work, like mapping for example (which she did). There is no denying she is a lowborn to her enemies but she could get this knowledge a number of ways.
Ther only explanation would be that hers was a learned tribe. They were ostracized by both sides and did menial jobs but they were also being used as spies. So they must be a literate Tribe. As for hangeul, it became popular only after 16th century and even then it was only for lowborns to communicate amongst themselves. Even in joseon most of the communication was done in Hanja only. You should watch the whole Kingdom series, it is totally based in joseon but you wont see a single hangeul character. Everything from journals to notices to secret messages, everything is in Hanja only.
Need some enlightenment in this. I still am curious as to why the zombies raised by ashin via the plant turn other zombies by biting whereas those raised by plant in the Kingdom, such as the king who bit Dan-i and the korean soldiers who bit the japanese in the war did not turn into zombies. Those that turn zombies by eating the flesh of Dan-i, turn zombies by being bitten.
Ash -> Sulfur -> Brimstone -> Hellfire -> Mephisto. There it is. When there’s no more room in hell, the dead shall roam the earth... or something like that.

Such interesting moral arguments, can’t we just agree it’s a great show with really good character setups and deserves Netflex to green light season 3? @WolfsBane What do you mean by "Type 2" zombies?

The actress who plays Ashin, Jun Ji Hyun, is one of the most popular actresses in S. Korea.
Yes, the commander & the leader of the clan who killed all those ginseng foragers left the camp.
Very insightful comment! Totally agree with your analysis.
I think the commander already told Ashin the fact. that’s why she was able to find the scroll. And I think he and Ashin had the same thing in mind. And he already knew about the zombies and the resurrection plant after the tiger zombie incident. I think in season 3, it will be about the role of the commander in the story.

Just a quick one, she doesnt want answers because of finding her father, she wanted answers because, when she was a kid and discovered the deaths in the forest, she noticed it was the same arrow as the lord in the Joseon military camp.
And the lord who use the arrow got beheaded by the Crown Prince in Season 1.
I think the pjeoubi guy who dodged the arrow would still be alive. Normally if you don’t see them die, they really aren’t dead :p
Not if they are dealing with Ashin. I highly doubt they'd survive that.
They put him dodging the arrow in the cut for a reason. So they are telling the audience, even if they didnt show it in the end, that that guy eventually dodges the arrow and will be on the next episodes
@Rony Pranith She's only a child. how can she fight?
That guy will be one of the antagonist in s3 it's confirmed in Wiki. He's not dead
There comes the next episode🍾

@@maddy4690 the guy with the yellow arrow and his troops were the one who killed those 15 pajeowi..meaning they are the reason why the pajeowi tribe got angry to the joseon soldiers as a result the commander used ashins tribe as a scapegoat hence they were all killed by the pajeowi..
This is an amazing series from South Korea truly great acting and story telling.
The only explanation would be if it doesn't spread from animals to humans (which doesn't make much sense).

Been waiting for this breakdown for days... we have to admit no one does good job reviewing kingdom series than heavy spoilers...
I started kingdom last December and finished it in a couple days. It was so freaking good and I'm dying for more
Where did she hide all the zombie villagers? No soldiers decided to go back to that village for all those years?
In that same forbidden forest where Ashin found the cave where the flowers located.
The soldier she fed to the zombie villagers is not the commander. If you recall, the commander (Min Chi-Rok) was called to the South before Ashin was told to spy on the Pajeowis and discovered what happened to her father. Plus he’s in Season 2 too.
Allegedly (according to multiple k-drama Instagram accounts) Netflix is working on Kingdom: Crown Prince.

This isn't s3 it's a prequel for s1.
Ashin is not season3...its a special movie for ashin's background...upcoming season3 is after season2...

Some details that could hint to s3
1. Beom il said - are you sure theres 15 of them when min cho rok told him theres 15 dead bodies. Theres a possibility someone escaped
Wow love your theories. I'm a silent reader of comments and yours makes sense. Did Aidagan showed up in the previous seasons?

Off topic: i have one question, why the parasites didnt die when they cook it in boiling water in Season 1 and still made the villagers became zombies?
Just saw the last episode of season 2 and in the physician's journal she wrote that the worms prefer cold temperatures but spread even more viciously in extreme heat but she doesn't know why. I hope we get more explanation on this in the next season!
At season2 final, they said that they still don't know why...so she said there is more mystery with the flower and infection. I think Season3 will be about that, and since ashin studied for 3more years after she gave it to the royal doctor, and 7more years after zombie v.2 I bet she knows that mystery and use it against the north and the south
Ashin as a villian would be the best. Having her face off with The Crown Prince and Seo Bi would be something to see.
It was not the commander who she brought to her family to feed on. The commander was with the son of the villain and went back to Hanyang. He was even the one who investigated the pregnant women incident and was one of the four survivors of the carnage in the palace together with the Prince in the last fight of season two.
It common to sympathize with the plight of a well written villain.
This special episode was excellent. Great story. Beautifully shot.
Ashin remind of me of Itachi Uchia, the way she mascare everybody.
For reals!!
Yeah but as a child her sufferings was a lot more like sasuke's
So these zombies do not decompose? I mean she was a little girl when she used the resurrection plant on her people, and when she fed that guy to them they looked pretty fresh to me.
That's plothole of all zombie shows and movies. They are somehow immortal lol
Seems like it, I mean,
The zombie tiger had no flesh and bones but it was still able to kill so many. I don't think their bodies decompose at all.
The aesthetics of this show 🔥🔥
What the hell that commander Min Chi Rok is the guy in Kingdom season 1 and 2 whos actually helping the majesty whom i lbelieve was a good guy. But he's actually the reason why ashin is getting her revenge can't wait for them to meet again in s3.. Commander Min Chi Rok you have created a beautiful monster. :D
Well there's one more show coming called KINGDOM!! It's the last season of transformers war for cybertron hoping you will do the breakdown of it!
Ooo snap, yeah I’m gonna cover it next week
I love kingdom like crazy i don't know why they are late in part 3
One of the best performances I've seen from Jun Ji Hyun for real. She's so amazing
LOL
what i am curious about is what happened to the victims who were mauled by the zombie tiger since the tiger is considered as type b zombie,is it that animal zombies dont affect humans and likewise human zombies dont eat/bite animals
@WolfsBane i dont think it needs to boil because the tiger zombie clearly 'didnt boil' the zombie deer when it ate
@@kimhouychhum3196 i dont understand, isnt it eating the deer directly and eating the meat of the deer the same
@@ranng6817 yeah, that is the same thing.
@@kimhouychhum3196 i see, that also means if those who ate type A also becomes type A...this is new information
Jun ji hyun or gianna jun never disappoints.
I watched the movie before watching the two seasons and I’m so glad I did. This show is just incredible. It gives me massive resident evil vibes.
Theory: “Battle of Piesa-gun”
A hundred years ago the Jurchens (Pajeowi clan) plotted a massacre for Asians to conquer them all and the rest of the world. This only became possible when the Haewon Cho clan from Joseon sold them a very confidential information about a potential bioweapon which can be found in a place within the border of northern korea called Pyesa-gun. (The resurrection plant)
Fortunately, the worldwide genocide stopped when one clan from Jurchen (Seongjeoyain clan) chose to betray their people for a better cause. They secretly allied with Joseon kingdom and fight against the Jurchens. They won that war and called that event the “the battle of Piesa-gun”.
After the war, to avoid another serious threat in future, they approved the following laws:
Until the time comes for Prince Chang and Ashin of the North.
but why did you say mongols ?? Mongols have and had nothing to do with anything or anybody in the show
@@thekhans2823 Got it. I just edited that info. Thank you
y’all want me to hate her ?? no. this is my queen n i fully support her decisions.
Dude she didn't feed the commander the commander fled before her attack. It was just some random soldier that abused her
Does that makes her a pregnant or something?
I really like Ashins character, I hope to see her more, in either a part two or The Kingdom series 😃
Heavy Spoilers- you might know by now, but before season 3 goes into production, the creators were talking about a “Side-quel” about the Crown Prince Chang. If you know more, please let us know! Great vids!
Just thought the episode was brilliant! Can’t wait for Kingdom S3 tbh
Such an underrated series 🔥🔥🔥😩
Initially in Kingdom season 1 they show that the one who was bitten by the king brought back from the dead by the resurrection flower dies after his body turns cold... In season 2 the same happens with Minister Cho Hak-ju, but in the special episode Ashin the disease is spread by the bite....
I think what happened is she stuffed the flowers into several people.
watch it again, heaps of dead people stay dead.
I've been waiting for your review since the prequel premiered..! Thank you and keep it up!
Asin is a compelling character. Hope she keeps winning
I wonder if you can still turn into a zombie from a bite by a child zombie with baby teeth?
I like Ashin to meet Cheng, and I'm sure they most likely will meet, just wondering what would she thought of Cheng since he's really different than the rest.
Bro me too!! Because if you think abt it she’s never met anyone like him before bc her whole life royals have looked down upon her family. I hope in some way he can help her heal
The story telling is really next level
IN CONCLUSION, WE NEED KINGDOM SEASON 3!!! hehehe
Can you share the link of this RE series
@@Knockyourselfout89 This is the closest thing to a summary video
it's miles better than any Western zombie flick lol.. Army of the Dead is a fucking predictable cringe fest.
What part her clothing or traditon look like Chinese? Are you stupid? They are Mongolians.
@@lukew3224 Nope, but Manchurians
I think she made a deal with them and joined them.
Joseon is pronounced as "Jó-son" not Joseyon. "eo" sounds like the regular english O but a bit longer.
no, eo is rounder and fuller vowel like how americans say 'god', o is more closed vowel like how people say 'oh' without the h
The nounㅓ(eo) pronounced as 'u' in 'lunch'
Now this is how you write a powerful female villain Hollywood! Instead of tweeting platitude take notes!!
I was locked in from beginning to end excellent acting beautiful cinematography good job Netflix 🎬
Great video! I've never heard of this IP. I'm going to check it out. Cheers!
I don't want Aidagan to die yet. He has to find out the commander lied to him and seek revenge with Ashin.
I was waiting for this video for date. 💯👌🏼👌🏼
Sorry for keeping you so long, had a busy weekend but glad to get this out
One big problem I had was the fact that Ashin knew how to read when she was not educated at all.
she's educated..
she wrote notes on the map of pajeowi..
Am i the only one who was rooting half way for the protagonist but 3/4 to end kinda hated her??
I am thankful that Kingdom gave us the cause of the Z's. Hope other Z movies would do it too.
A villain with a conviction is unstoppable
Ash -> Sulfur -> Brimstone -> Hellfire -> Mephisto.
There it is.
When there’s no more room in hell, the dead shall roam the earth... or something like that.
